5 out of 5 eggsGreat UPS

Pros: I bought this on June 21st, 2007 from Newegg. (Newegg kept all the record, so I could find my info)
And, today, after the Hurricane Sandy, this finally died. Looks like the battery does not hold charge anymore.
This means, this one lasted 5 years for me, and that's far more than what I can expect from normal UPS. Now, I am thinking to buy this again.

Cons: Not really any con, but there is no connector for PC, so it won't tell you whether the power is out, rather than some beep noise.

Other Thoughts: It is kind of amazing to see the same exact model still being sold for about the same price after 5 years.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: It got here quickly, did not appear damaged.

Cons: It was DOA. Construction is cheap, RMA for a refund.

Other Thoughts: Im almost glad it was DOA, the moment i took it out of the box i thought, this is what i bought. Looks feels cheap, and obviously it didn't work either.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: Great little UPS. Smaller than expected, and lighter (10lbs). Nicely designed. Works fine for me with a fairly loaded tower (750w PSU, O/C'd DFI Lanparty Opti 170, and GTX 460)

Cons: Well it does hiss a little ... probably the caps charging. Can't hear it really when the PC is on, but you can when it's off. (But, hey, I'm sleeping only 10 feet from it). And of course, no USB connector ... but I knew that when I bought it.

Other Thoughts: Fast shipping of course. It's really just fine for the price. If you need a 1kva UPS, get this one.

3 out of 5 eggsMediocre at best

Pros: Compact design. Still "works" after 4 years.

Cons: Battery life much shorter than advertised -- 10 minutes with the computer on, 20 under a 35 watt load. Also, if it runs out of battery before the power comes back on, leaves the power cut on all devices. You have to physically press the power button after a 15-minute power outage or the protected devices never come back online!

5 out of 5 eggsSimple and works

Pros: Simple, affordable, works as advertised.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: We've been having some nasty thunderstorms and after having a couple of quick power outages in one week, I decided to buy this UPS. We've had about 3 outages since I've gotten it, and while everything in the house goes dark, the gaming desktop and the 30" monitor plugged into this UPS keep on going. Very satisfied.

2 out of 5 eggsSeems Cheap

Pros: Hard to find pro! Cheap I guess!

Cons: Just seems cheap to me. I would have rather spent the money for the customer on another product. I suppose it will suffice but the box was destroyed and Newegg delivered to someone else and made me wait for it for over 3 weeks. Shipping errors are rare with Newegg but I still had to wait for something that had nothing to do with me making the error. Should find a way to fix this Newegg.

4 out of 5 eggs600 watts for a great price!

Pros: 600 watts UPS for a great price. I love it. Unit does not take up that much space, either. So far, the UPS has kept my computer running through 3 outages in 2 weeks. Will never live without one again. This unit uses a series of beeps to communicate it's status to you (read manual to understand). All I need is for it to do it's job - keep my expensive PC, monitor, and modem running when the power goes out. This unit WORKS.

Cons: The 4 outlets are really close together, so if you have any bulky "box" AC adapters to plug in, it will take up 2 outlet slots, preventing you from really using all 4.

No software support, but I don't care.

Pros: It works really well. Has saved me several times from lightning and the dog pulling out the power cord from the wall.

5 out of 5 eggsRight price, works great

Pros: - Size is great for under the desk
- offers unmatched power at this price

Cons: more outlets would be good when capable of serving up this amount of power.

Other Thoughts: I own several ups from this company and all have lasted for many years. I expect the same here.

5 out of 5 eggsJust as I expected!

Pros: Works. Just plug it in and you are ready to go. Unlike many UPS units, you don't have to attach the battery first, this thing is alreay set! It's powering my TV and DTV converter box (Maybe I should buy an HDTV for the lower power consumption). Overall, it's doing it's job and I'm very pleased

Cons: Not really a con, but it beeps once every 3-5 seconds. Not really loud or anything, and it can easily be drowned out by the TV. Also, No bypass plugs. All 4 plugs run on the battery. Not a deal breaker, but a pain when you only connect 2 things to a device as big as it is.

Other Thoughts: Just FYI: UPS units aren't meant to replace power from the wall. They are just meant to give you some spare time to properly turn off certain delicate devices.

For UPS Math: Consider what devices you will attach to the UPS. Add the Wattage of all the devices together (Listed on the back of all AC power devices. DC power devices list volts and amps. DC Volts times DC amps are Watts) and devide the total Watts by 120 (voltage from the wall). This number is your Amps per second draw.

When considering a UPS unit, make certain the total wattage of all the devices to be connected to it is less than it's wattage rating, or else it will just be a very expensive surge protector (it won't make more power than it can generate and won't work period). Then, consider the VA rating. Devide the UPS VA rating by your Amps per second drain and you'll get the number of seconds it will power your devices. Divide by 60 for minutes.

You'll be shocked at just how short it lasts.

UPS 101.
