TI updated the 30XS scientific calculator to make it easier to use and to give it more power. The MATHPRINT mode lets you enter and view calculations in Math Notation including stacked fractions, symbolic pi, exponents and exact square roots. The multi-line display lets you compare results of more than one calculation.

You can also toggle your results between different notations to see how they would look in fractions, decimals, pi terms and square root expressions. This gives the student an easy to understand view of the relationship between different types of notations.

Harsh 8/12/2011 6:17:03 PM Tech Level: 3/5 Ownership: 5/5	Rating: 5/5Best Calculator for Algebra Pros: This calculator does everything you need for an algebra class. The display is just like you write the expression on paper so it is easy to put in fractions (including compound fractions), radicals, exponents, scientific notation etc... The multi-line display allows you to see what you entered as well as your answer. This calculator has 3 features that I have not found on other scientific calculators. 1) A table function that allows you to input a function and get a t-chart of x and y values. (like a y= button on a graphing calc) This in invaluable for graphing, finding solution sets, finding roots of quadratics etc... 2) simplification of radicals with the answer given in simplest radical form. 3) Mono and Bi-variate statistics including linear regression. Cons: No absolute value key. You can work around this by taking the square root of the number squared but it is inelegant . Other Thoughts: If you teach algebra there is a very good emulator available (called smartview) that allows you to project the calculator for instruction. You can also get 10 packs of school bus yellow calculators for in class use (called EZ Spot) I teach algebra and i would not even consider sending a student into an algebra class or a standardized test without a TI30XS-Multiview Did you find this review helpful? foxfauxfree 12/4/2010 10:09:41 AM Tech Level: 4/5 Ownership: 4/5	Rating: 5/5Good Pros: I selected this calculator over some of the other choice simply because i thought it looked better but it worked great did everything easily in fact when we had to do new things with our calculators in class i could figure it out faster on this one than the person next to me on a casio brand because the layout of this calculator simpler Cons: I lost it, and could not find it and newegg's price is higher than i originally paid for it. Other Thoughts: i'll head to mart (starts with Wall) and see if the price is still reasonable there (+ no shipping) i doubt it has any more functions than most other calculators in this price range but it dose look nicer Did you find this review helpful?
