5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Simple, big keys, nice shape like my old 41CX, naturally RPN.

Cons: Display is weak, keys not as firm as my 41CX, or 15C. This calc is OK for the backpack, rough handling, commuting computing ....

Other Thoughts: Someone mentioned the 15C. The 15C is still available, at the HP website, in a nice limited edition. I bought one. :) sweet.

4 out of 5 eggsNot great but good support

Pros: Key layout good

Cons: Hexadecimal operation very cumbersome. My HP-33S was much more intuitive.

Other Thoughts: On the merits of the calculator alone, I would give it 3 stars, but because I received prompt customer service from HP I give it 4. After 10 months of owning this calculator, the numbers 1&2 would work only intermittently.
To be honest, I didn't expect much calling into HP. To my pleasant surprise, the tech honored the 1 year warranty based on my date of purchase rather than the mfg date and is sending me a new one.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost like the old days

Pros: Keys feel good and the arrangement is ok for an old user of the 41 and 42 series. Batteries are 2 x 3v CR 2032 "coins". The functions are familiar too, with the addition of some conversions on the keys.

Cons: Feels strange in the hand because it's both very light and very large in comparison to the 40 series models. No input or output method. Huge battery cover for 2 coin cells.

Other Thoughts: I'll get used to it. There is no alternative for a familiar RPN calculator for everyday use. If it lasts I'm satisfied. Like millions of others I can't figure why someone doesn't make a 41 CX with a modern case, cpu and external connections.
NE sat on it for 5 days before shipping. No contact. Nothing. Then UPS delivered a day late. This is not the NE I know.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: RPN
Good general function non-graphic scientific calculator
Not a graphics calculator

Cons: Not a HP15c

Other Thoughts: Wish HP15c was available for purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality RPN

Pros: Has all the features you need for engineering work and college math. RPN is the biggest pro. If you don't know how to do RPN, learn it and you will understand why people pay more for RPN calcs. Calculations are faster and easier to understand and keep track of what you're doing.

Cons: No printed manual. Manual is a pdf file on a disc. >:(

Other Thoughts: More expensive than others but you get what you pay for. This is for serious college students and engineers who make their living using a calculator. Browse your manual and learn a little about it and you'll learn to appreciate what it can do.

5 out of 5 eggsHP35s

Pros: The calculator is a great RPN with the option for algebraic function if you really want to go to the dark side.

Great RPN calculator for the money.

Cons: Slight limitation on the speed at which you can punch in keys i.e. skips functions and numbers sometimes. Just need to slow down a bit.

Other Thoughts: This was a replacement for my previous HP35s...used it too much and wore out the keys

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: For surveyors this calculator is the bees knees. Easy to program for traversing, trig is easy. Most LS I know carry 2 in the truck as they are very valuable. RPN is a little tricky at first, but it can be switched to algebraic notation if you don't feel like messing with it.

Cons: RPN can be confusing, read the section of the manual that informs you of how it works and everything should be made clear.

Other Thoughts: I initially bought this so I would be comfortable when I took the LSIT exam (no graphing calculators allowed). I still carry a basic Casio with me but am making the HP my go to.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Calculator

Pros: It's RPN (could repeat that about 100 times)
High contrast multi-function labels on keys
Lots of usefull built in functions (it's an HP)
Two line display
Keyboard more spread out than the 32SII, more like a HP-35
Great feature set for the price

Cons: Bigger than the 32SII (thicker, longer)
Two line display characters smaller than the 32SII
Doesn't have a card reader for my HP-65 cards
Reflective display

Other Thoughts: Compared to the 32SII - the viewing angle and contrast on the display is better. The reflectivity of the display reduces this advantage if you use flat on the desk. Hand held, it is a better display.
Keyboard feel is ok, but not what you once got. It's miles ahead of what you get on the competition. Nice to see them go back to the old key labeling system

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Great calculator. Powerful. RPN is really easy to use once you get used to it.

Cons: RPN can be difficult at first. Certain buttons such as pi or x^2 can be difficult to remember where they are.

Other Thoughts: I love this calculator. Got it after a engineer suggested it due to being able to use it on the FE exam. Took some time to get used to the placement of buttons because I had used a TI prior, but I finally got used to it.
