Experts agree that the best way to dispose of documents that contain your personal information is to shred them. The Fellowes P70CM Cross-Cut introduces the Shredder, a deskside shredder that's just right for home or light-duty office use.

This shredder allows up to 7 pages in one go and uses a 9-inch wide paper entry to help with the shredding of large-size documents. Simply insert the paper into the "throat", press the button and the unit will cut it into 5/32" unreadable strips in seconds. Adding to the overall efficiency is the fact that it also cuts plastic credit cards and can take small staples and paper clips.

The garbage basket will hold 4.5 gallons of cut-paper for you. With durable cutters and a powerful motor, it's guaranteed to provide trouble-free and reliable service for many years to come.

4 out of 5 eggsSeems worth it

Pros: Good price, free shipping, does what I need it to do. Went through 7 sheets with no trouble.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I saw the reveiws about the dust before I bought it. I used a clear bag and it's fine. Seems to work for a general home user. I would not recommend for someone who needs heavy usage.

1 out of 5 eggsGood Till It Died

Pros: Inexpensive, cross-cut shredder. Shreds credit cards. Seemed to work well until the day it died.

Cons: No Auto-Stop or Auto-Reverse if it gets jammed. Kind of loud. Mesh basket leaks paper dust. Plastic/Nylon gears.

Other Thoughts: I was in a hurry yesterday and accidentally exceeded its max capacity. Something snapped and it let out a large shriek when the motor started free-running after the gears broke. Not worth it to repair. Looking for a better built shredder with steel gears and one that is able to protect itself from overload.

2 out of 5 eggsGood and bad

Pros: This is an attractive unit that shreds to nice, small pieces.

Cons: It has never performed to the capacity it is rated for. It bogs down at 3 sheets, and if you put more than that, it will overload.

Other Thoughts: I am a light user as far as frequency/amount. This product has not lived up to expectations. I am in the market for a new one now and will go with a different manufacturer.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good shredding style, works quickly.

Cons: Sounds angry when hungrily eating paper. Fills up fast. The see-through container gets dust/etc everywhere.

Other Thoughts: I'm torn; I like the see-through container but it's something I might not want to keep in my room since it creates a ton of dust.
