Experts agree that the best way to dispose of documents that contain your personal information is to shred them. Fellowes introduces the PS-77Cs Personal Powershred Shredder, a deskside shredder that's just right for home or light-duty office use.

This shredder allows up to 12 pages in one go and uses a 9-inch wide paper entry to help with the shredding of large-size documents. Simply insert the paper into the "throat", press the Auto-on button and unit will cut it into 5/32" unreadable strips in seconds. Adding to the overall efficiency is the fact that it also cuts plastic credit cards and can take small staples and paper clips.

With the patented SafeSense Technology, this unit will auto stop the shredder immediately when hands are too close. A transparent window on the front lets you see when the 7-gallon basket is full; while a handy reverse button lets you easily remove paper jams. Pros: Cross-cut shredder that can handle those annoying credit card offers without having to open them!

Cons: The shredded items are not as small as I had expected. The basket can fill up fast if you have a tons of shredding to do and since it makes a mess of your shredded items it can make a mess of the area you change the basket at. The solution is keep a vacuum cleaner/broom nearby so it's not much of a con.

Other Thoughts: I'd love to buy the more expensive ones to that can cut the items into even smaller pieces.

eats those pesky fake credit cards without a hiccup.

Cons: Would be nice if it was a little cheaper.
Kind of top-heavy.

Other Thoughts: This replaces a Royal that started to choke on the fake cards.

when you open it, there are pieces that have fallen out of the basket and all over on the inside.

noisy

can not cut the ENTIRE credit card mailing envelope, so i still have to open the mailing, split it in half and then run it.

Other Thoughts: did i say it's noisy? No, well, it's noisy.
