4 out of 5 eggsIt's like happy bacon

Pros: At 300 odd pounds, I am no lightweight. I spend all day on my feet and this chair is my all in one at home chair. It has it's issues, but I think I have fallen in love with it.

Cons: Recliner lock gets play in it over time, gives wobbly feel. shock leaks over time after 6odd months Others have this issue. My new shock lasted about a year before slowly leaking down intermittently. The material on the seat has started peeling off after 2.5 years.

Other Thoughts: 4 stars because the silly shock dies so often! I don't need height adjustment, so I am thinking of either being an idiot and tack welding the shock or doing some crazy fun JB weld.

I haven't decided to buy another chair from these guys or just patch mine up for now. A pillow case and JB weld might keep this thing going for a few more years.

3 out of 5 eggsUpdate, 1 year +

Pros: Very comfy!

Cons: Gas shock leaking slowly after 6months (replaced under warranty one time, see *other*).

Oh, make sure to buy some arm rest pads... they are wimpy.

Other Thoughts: Well, when the bracket that connects the shock to the chair broke, it was under warranty. The shipping was free. Very pleased. But 6 months after that, (now) the shock is leaking slowly. I might try buying a replacement shock, but who knows? The chair is very comfy. I likes it.

5 out of 5 eggsWell buitl chair

Pros: Very heavy duty, great for a big man.

Cons: None that I can see, I would like a version that the seat back was taller to support my head, but that's not this chairs fault.

Other Thoughts: I am a big guy and this thing is very study. I have wrecked a few chairs before. I am not sure I will be able to wreck this one.

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Comfortable and extremely easy to assemble, even with the supplied allen wrench.

Cons: More knobs and levers would be nice.

Other Thoughts: I have to build a new desk because this chair is too wide. But I knew that when I bought it so it's not a complaint.

5 out of 5 eggsOnly for the manly

Pros: Heavy Duty. Solid chrome metal, no flimsy metal. Great quality leather material. Nice thick metal screws used for long durabilty. The seat cushion is a perfect size for me (5'10" 285 lbs.) and good length so it doesn't affect the circulation under my thighs like some other chairs do. The arm rest are wide enough to allow good hip and thigh movement. Not overly cushy but a nice firmness to it, but not uncomfortable.

Cons: It only has one locking position which sits me too far forward, so I leave it on the unlocked position all the time. It would have been perfect if it could be locked in a halfway position between the most forward and all the way back, but we can't have everything.

Other Thoughts: I don't know why people are whining about the assembly, it was one of the easiest chairs to put together for me. It took me about ten minutes to put on the armrest, very simple. The hardest part was removing all the bubble wrap and cardboard from the parts, but a hobby knife quickly cut through all that in no time. By the way, this chair is made for big and tall people, so for the guy who claimed he is 5'10" and 150 lbs and complained about the chair,uh...hello, it wasn't made for someone like you.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy it.

Pros: Comfortable arm rests.

Cons: The lateral bar that runs through the cushion slowly works its way to the surface after about 1-2 months of use. I'm a lean guy at 5'10, 150lbs, and the metal bar that sits in the cushion is incredibly uncomfortable to sit on. I've seen this happen to a lot of friends and co-workers chairs and I would think that buying a 300$ product would be far beyond such simple issues. Not worth the money. My 100$ chair from staples in my comfortable than this. Not to mention is was an absolute pain to assemble. The arm chair holes dont line up with the cushion. Needed the assistance of another person to physically pull it into position (difficult considering the arm rests are solid metal) while I wrenched it in.

Other Thoughts: Go with something else. At 300$, you would expect to receive so much more.

4 out of 5 eggsLasted 6 months

Pros: Comfy, Big, Feels durable.

Cons: A pain to assemble with supplied tools.

The bracket that the shock presses into has come apart. The chair doesn't fall apart, but it looks like a press/welded collar has come loose. Going to try welding it, but that depends on if the shock comes out... Don't want it exploding!

Other Thoughts: For the 6 months it worked, I loved it. I Use it for TV and gaming... Used to use it :(

5 out of 5 eggsMassive Chair

Pros: Large/Heavy
Made from quality material
Easy to assemble

Cons: Needs to be broken in first (see other thoughts)
Price? (it's a good chair so it's worth it)

Other Thoughts: I know new chairs (leather in particular) are usually a bit stiff when you first buy them and this chair is no different. Don't expect it to be immediately comfortable when you sit in it - just realize it needs some time to soften up a bit.

I've seen some people comment that the assembly requires a ratchet set. I was able to do the whole thing with the included Allen Wrench without any issues. Yes, you'll need a LOT of hand strength but it's easily do-able.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Chair

Pros: Very sturdy, comfortable chair. Price is good for what you get if you compare to other big and tall chairs out there. Was tired of getting cheaper chairs that would just last a few months then get thrown out. This one looks like it will hold up for a long time and put up with a lot of use.

Cons: The only reason I didn't give this chair 5 eggs was the assembly. They give you an allen wrench to get your bolts in, but as others have said, have a ratchet set handy when you assemble the chair back. The threads aren't the best and you will need more muscle than the allen wrench can give you. Aslo, I had one hole for the arm rest bolt that was a full 1/4 inch off where it should have been. Took some "persuading" but I got it lined up.

Other Thoughts: All in all a great chair for the $279 I paid. Free shipping helped a lot with the weight of this thing! Take your time with the assembly, bring the right tools and you will be very happy.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Chair

Pros: I never thought I'd pay more than $100 for a chair, but after blowing through six lesser chairs in about a year, I decided to take the plunge. I have zero regrets. As stated by other reviewers, this thing is STURDY. I'm pretty sure it could survive a nuclear apocalypse, or, at the very least, an atomic leg drop. The chair is also very roomy (as to be expected from any piece of furniture with the "big and tall" designation). You'd have to be unbelievably fat to not fit easily in this chair. The padding in the seat and back couldn't be much more comfortable. In the unfathomable event that this chair dies, I will purchase another in a heartbeat. From newegg, of course.

Cons: One of the bolt holes on the bottom of the frame was mis-threaded. I had to break out the 'ol socket wrench to power through it. A minor inconvenience, and definitely not worth an egg.

It could be cheaper, but then Alera wouldn't make a profit on it.

Other Thoughts: Ordered on Monday and arrived on Wednesday. If I loved newegg any more, it'd be illegal.
