1 out of 5 eggsDied after a year of owning it

Pros: Uh... It came in a cool case? And it worked for a year?

Cons: Ok, I decided to get an iPod to go for all the hype right? Bad decision. It died after a year of owning it, the sound quality was horrible (compared to my current X-Fi MP3 player), Apple has useless tech support, and they are a useless company anyway (I had a friend's Mac die 4 times and they didn't even help her).

Other Thoughts: The iTouchs may be better, but don't get the 5th gen!!!

3 out of 5 eggsNot recommended by a 2 year owner.

Pros: Plays music
Sleek, Black, Shiny

Cons: Apple Tech Support
Flaws in the 5th generation design (explained)

Other Thoughts: I have owned a 5th gen apple ipod for 2 years. I originally recieved this ipod as a gift from my girlfriend. (Who had bought it off her little brother who had it for 1 year but kept it in good condition)

Anyways 3 months into owning this ipod it stopped working playing music through the head phone jack. After researching online I had a heat related issue with the ipod. The problem is that this generation has not been put together well. Even though i was 2 years out of warranty i still called apple tech supports because this is a known issue that has been recognized, It took about an hour of being run around through foreign Indian employees trying to get me to buy a refurbished unit for $120 i told them i will never to buisness with apple again if this is the treatment that i am going to get. Thankfully they sent me through to an American manager who understood my problem and sent me a new 5th gen free of charge.

Sadly this will be my first and Last ipod due to this experience.

2 out of 5 eggsRefurbished

Pros: Its an Ipod Video.

Cons: Bought this Ipod about 2 weeks ago. Love ya newegg, but it came with a failing hard drive. The Ipod works fine however I can hear the cancerous clicking of the drive when it starts to spin.

Other Thoughts: A refund within 7 days needs to be offered on items like this. It should be newegg's job to replace failed refurbished equip, stop signing crazy contracts NE, you are loosing valuable customers. Still love you guys though!

5 out of 5 eggsRefurb 5Gen Ipod

Pros: The price is outstanding, excellent condition when I received it, functions extraordinarily well.

Cons: It's a refurb, so there isn't much of a warrantee

Other Thoughts: I've been really impressed. It's my third iPod and second 5g after an HP branded iPod and a 60gig 5G. Highly recommended.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY THIS

Pros: I couldn't find yet since it won't charge at all so I couldn't operate it enough.

Cons: It won't charge at all. I've got defective one. But it is non-replacable. I'm still trying to get ahold of apple tech support. It is hard to get them. DO NOT BUY THIS ONE. I guess there should be more ipods like this. It is a refurb one. But it doesn't seem like it is inspected. Also, at the first connection to my PC, there were lots of virus warnings. I just wasted $129. I was stupid. All I can do is to say 'DON'T BE ANOTHER VICTIM'

1 out of 5 eggs3YR OLD USED IPOD

Pros: It is an iPod.

Cons: I received a very scratched up iPod that does not hold a charge. Tried to return it to newegg they told me to call Apple. Went to Apple Store they told me I have a 3 year old used iPod that was not fixed or recertified by Apple, they will not warranty the product.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY

4 out of 5 eggs5th gen hd lock problem

Pros: Easy to use interface, reasonable size for music content - not so much if you want to run alot of video content.

Cons: These tend to react poorly when you disconnect the headphones and let it goto sleep. You end up with a menu that works, but none of the music plays.

I actually got rid of mine due to this problem... found that I had to reset the unit approximately once a week.

If you've bought a refurb, and you feel like your unit's fried... if the menu works, but playback doesn't "start"... try googling for how to reset the device.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: This ipod is great and cheap. I was surprised that it was in such a good condition despite being refurbished.

Cons: It came in an ordinary box. Freezes sometimes, but discovered that some songs just don't work with it. The earbuds that came along with the ipod sucks as many people probably know.

Other Thoughts: although i had this ipod for 2 weeks, i won't know how durable it is, but if you are looking for a decently priced ipod, then this is a great buy.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't Bother

Pros: holds music library for up to 7500 songs

Cons: do not expect to use more than 16 months. will play, but no sound will emit from device. Apple will not fix for less than $400, the cost of a newer device.

Other Thoughts: outside of the no sound issue, I LOVED my ipod..but this model is an inferior design and has a product flaw that Apple admits to but will not fix.
