Pros: Hardware works well, if you can get your files into it.
Cons: This device comes with Creative Centrale Software for interface. This software is broken; it behaves like a beta test version; hangs frequently, locks up the Zen device. Tried it on 3 separate machines with the same result.
Other Thoughts: Creative used a different interface for the previous version of Zen, called Zen Media Explorer. It plugged right into Windows Explorer and was very easy to use. Creative Centrale is finicky and fragile and should never have been released in its current state. I am disappointed that Creative traded a working interface for a broken one. The interface screen is "more cool" to look at though... :-)

Pros: Good battery life, and that's it.
Cons: 1. Does not accurately access playlists. 2. Does not accurately create playlists. 3. Poor sound. 4. Skips during mp3 playback. 5. Terrible software interface. I don't know what else to say; this product is awful.

Don't buy it!

Pros: Plays mp3/4s, records audio, radio, pics as described
Cons: The MX is not an upgrade. It is a DOWNGRADE from the normal Zen. Here are the downsides: 1. Made in China as opposed to Malaysia. 2. Only plays terrible .cmv video files. These are slow to encode, huge, and only used by Creative. Google it. 3. Does not have the on/off/hold slider button on the side. This is not integrated into the front buttons (I bought two. One has a broken on/off button) 4. The player creates files for its own reference and indexes. I haven't played around long enough to see all the downsides, but it seems inefficient.
Other Thoughts: Buy a Zen. Forget the Zen MX. I own both. If your only interested in audio they are similar. But, if you want to use the video, even a little bit, buy just a Zen. NO MX!
