Pros: -Durable ive dropped this thing literally hundreds of times Cracked the screen cover slapped around in my pocket , landed on concrete from my pocket ( 3FT.)most of those hundreds of times and have gone skittering across the pavement quite a few feet ( Think the record was 15FT) - very good sound quality even when i am welding (= blasted with massive radio interference by A Tig WELDING MACHINE!!!!!!!!!!, not a sound or blip, pop, hum, buzz nothing that's not supposed to be there ) - battery last me 3-4 days on a charge listening 6-9 hours a day - has radio - has expandable Memory stick slot(now mine holds 16GB) - even though it doesn't say it can, it holds SDHC cards fine even an 8gb - the battery is user serviceable by the screws on the back - its got some weight due to the metal back plate ( you know if you dropped it) - its alot cheaper than an ipod - the menus are laid out nicly -A User programmable EQ YOU CAN PROGRAM WITH THE PLAYER AT ANY TIME !!!!!!!!! , and about 1
Cons: needs a bigger Go List when you have 3000 songs like me,
Other Thoughts: I just wish there was a plug in remote like the psp and some ipods , why dont they make the E200 Series anymore !!!!!WHY!!!!!!!!! i haven't killed it yet even though it sounds like i try, i don't its just that i am very rough on these things by nature , between Machining Welding And motorcycles Stuff takes a Beating i've had mine for about 2 years if not more and will not GIVE it UP till it is absolutely a Bricked paperweight

Arguably the best player for the money

Pros: 1. sound quality is at the highest of any mp3 player ive had the chance to use. Ipods and Zunes fall way short.
2. Battery life. I recharge once every other week, and listen about 3-5 hours each night. I never see below 1/2 battery.
3. Abilities- though it may not compare to a itouch, it can do anything you would figure a standard mp3 player could do. Plus fm radio, recording, etc.
4. You can drag and drop music onto the device without having to use the horrid software suites that other devices require.
5. Ive never had to change mine in the 5 years ive had it, but the batteries are easily accessible, and easy to replace.
Cons: the scroll wheel does feel a little cheap, but it does its job, so i can complain.
Its easy to accidentally hit the record button, and while listening to music, you might suddenly make a recording of your pocket. Unfortunately, the v1 doesnt have any way to turn this off.
Other Thoughts: I dont mean to dis on other players, but many of them are highly over-rated. This player has everything they have to offer and more. And for the price, you simply cant beat it.

Great, with qualifications

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Records voice or radio. Lets you set record length and leave. Looked new, with plastic wrapper. Better than avg. earbuds. Great battery life.
Cons: Old version, not the R2. It is not compatible with Audible books and will not support microSD above 2 gig. Operating controls can cause static while recording. That's what the R2 would give you. Since these are "refurbished," some of them may be the R2 units (Star Wars?), but mine isn't.
Other Thoughts: I knew before ordering the difference between the new and old versions, and that the old was good enough, especially at this price, but if you need the extra functions, buy one that says it is the R2.
