2 out of 5 eggsNo Good for Podcasts

Pros: I guess it would be OK for normal music use, but I got it for Podcasts... see my "con" below.

Cons: This unit will NOT FastForward properly on LONG mp3's such as Podcasts. It scans forward for a minute or two then JUMPS to the next title. It is very arbitrary as to when it jumps... but always ends up jumping. That makes it impossible to scan into a podcast to re-listen to a specific portion. Sandisk support acknowledges the problem with this response... Unfortunately, all of our older model players does not fully support long track files. They were created before the development of podcast files. We can recommend our latest Sansa player models such as the Sansa Clip, Fuze or View that fully supports this function.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great for me.

Pros: I purchased this unit long ago at a closeout. I realize that most will use it for music, but with its mic it works great for dictation. I recorded college lectures that were just too much to comprehend all at once. Voice pickup was amazing. Go to any office type store and voice recorders are still very expensive. This one costs much less and is unobtrusive to boot.

I believe it also records FM from its tuner.

Cons: None, I'm buying another to get me through even longer lectures. The music player portion is a nice plus for later.

Other Thoughts: The other guy may be correct about the pauses, but I think he took too many eggs for for such an issue.

Use it the next time you get pulled over so if the cop isn't truthful with you your recording will reflect that.

2 out of 5 eggsCheap in Price and Quality

Pros: Lightweight, even for its small size. Decent battery life on a single AAA battery (10 - 16 hours). Easy to connect and upload songs, as the player registers as a common USB mass storage device. Buttons are easy to use but not easy to accidentally press.

Cons: Mediocre sound quality. No automatic music library syncing (no specialized software whatsoever). No rechargeable battery. No method to queue songs (that I could find, at least).

But the biggest con: Scrolling through your music library while listening to music will cause audible breaks in the music. You can tell that the player cannot handle playing music and loading names from your music library at the same time, so each new line you scroll through will cause a small "skip" in the audio playback.

Other Thoughts: I got this player from an online promotion that essentially made it free. It sat around in a drawer in my desk until my main digital music player broke, at which time I started using this one in a purely temporary capacity.

I would recommend it as a decent cheap and disposable music player, except for the one major issue that I described in the cons section. It is still usable (and I have been using it), but I feel like there's a high chance that you could find another cheap and disposable music player on the market that does not suffer from such a noticeable and annoying flaw.
