2 out of 5 eggsGood, but...

Pros: Inexpensive, but highly functional MP3 player + FM radio. Decent sound, decent display. I also like the fact that it can be used as an audio recorder - and works fairly well for that.

Cons: Hate the proprietary connector on the side, when a standard USB would have worked just fine. The earbuds that come with it are not very sensitive, so you have to turn the volume control MUCH higher than for most headphones/earbuds. Replace them and it's not bad at all.

Other Thoughts: Worked just fine for a couple of weeks. But once, when I was uploading files, the cord got pulled from the PC. Now when it's turned on, all I see is a message, "Refresh Database" which the progress bar stops about 1/4 the way through and never goes further. I've found the instructions on "resetting" and re-formatted it. (these include sliding the lock and pressing different keys while plugging it into the PC) I've done both according to the directions, several times. Still, the same non-progressing continues. All it's good for right now is as a light for finding my keys in the dark. If I could just get the radio to work, I'd be a lot happier.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid performer at a good price

Pros: Inexpensive (got mine for $13/free ship), good sound, easy to load music into (drag and drop). Equalizer does a good job of fine-tuning the sound. Got a 2Gb micro SD card for $7, so 3 Gb player for $20...pretty much unbeatable for that size.

Cons: No real volume control-it's either high or low for settings.

Other Thoughts: 3rd Sansa-all refurbs-I've owned; I have a 2Gb and a 4Gb also. All have done well for me, and I recommend them to my friends/coworkers. I use them only for music, so I'm not really sure how well the video is on them.

1 out of 5 eggsLasted a month

Pros: Cheap, lightweight

Cons: Would have been a great little player for holding all my music except that it broke a week after the 30 day warranty expired (no sound comes out, no matter what earphones I use.)

There goes 15$ straight down the drain, you really have to doubt the quality of their "Refurbishing" job (seems like they just sell the broken piece of junk right back to the customer.)

1 out of 5 eggsI can't give half an egg?

Pros: It was inexpensive.

Cons: I have yet to get song files on it. The website is horrible. The drivers don't work/don't exist. Windows Media Player 11 is required and that doesn't even seem to work.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your hard earned cash. I wish I didn't open it so I could return the thing.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good little unit great easy to use windows vista and 7 picked up the device as soon as it was plugged in. I like the fact it has the micro sd slot can use it to expand it.

Cons: Nothing as of yet will use sandisk in the future for mp3 player needs.

3 out of 5 eggsworks but quirky

Pros: It works. Reasonable menu navigation.

Cons: Had difficulty getting Windows to recognize it; don't recall exact steps but I went to the Sansa support page for help and found it.

Head sets are barely usable, with very little volume. An aftermarket set works fine.

5 out of 5 eggsRockbox OK on mine

Pros: Maybe I just got lucky, but mine is a v.1 so Rockbox works wonderfully on it. But like audiblu42 says, I have to do the magic Sansa Power/hold/left/plug ritual to get it into MSC mode, but once that was done, Rockbox installed no prob. Excellent sound quality using Creative canal buds or even my professional Sony MDR-V600 studio monitors.

Cons: As others have mentioned, no manual or software, and the earbuds went right into the trash.

RockDOOM is too small to see :)

Other Thoughts: Bought this to supplement my Rockboxed Sansa E260 which is a bit heavy for some applications. I still love the E260, but I love this little C240 too. It was worth the $13 gamble that it was a v.1.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Deal!!

Pros: This thing is TINY! Great sound(with upscale earbuds) and radio reception is exceptional in my area. Memory is expandable and once you get famaliar with the controls, it's really easy to use.

Cons: Refurbs don't come with a users manual, CD or lanyard. But, for the price, who cares? Earbuds are the worst ever and the two I bought both had V2 firmware so, no RockBox or menu selectable MSC mode (to sync with WMP). Instead, I have to lock and hold down the rewind button while plugging in to the computer. The downloadable manual from Sansa makes no mention of this because it's for V1 firmware and the firmware can't be downgraded because V2 units have a different chipset than V1 players.

Other Thoughts: Great little cheap player that I'm overall pleased with. Sandisk needs to do a firmware upgrade for V2 and consort with RockBox on their release for V2. If you're having difficulty, avoid the Sandisk website and look to the help forums, you'll find an answer.

4 out of 5 eggsVerry Happy

Pros: The sound is really good. The design and menu is nice and having FM makes it a really good deal.

Cons: When i plug in in, my computer sometimes loses it and then re-recognizes it as if it was unplugged for a sec. Not really a problem, just and anomaly. and I suspect its a software timing issue since the cable and connection looks solid. A more serious problem is that sometimes it doesn't updates it's database properly and continues to display songs that have been deleted. An annoyance. Maybe a firmware upgrade will fix but I haven't tried yet.

Other Thoughts: I bought it for podcasts and radio while commuting, but it is fine for music too.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well enough for me

Pros: Fairly quick charging and comfortable in one hand. A big step up from using my PSP as an mp3 player.

Fits easily into my pockets, quickly changes from radio stations. Battery life is fairly good, gets me through a day in what appears to be about half a charge.

Cons: Can't use Rockbox, minor issue as I'm not familiar with the software but I was intending on using that firmware on one of these until I read through the user guide and found it doesn't work with the newer c240's.

Also gets poor radio reception in my area so I can't tune in one station I usually listen to in my car.

Other Thoughts: Photo viewer seems worthless considering the size of the screen, but at the same time makes me wish it did video and text.

Having to charge via USB gets to be bothersome.
