4 out of 5 eggsGreat cheap mp3 player

Pros: This thing is cheap, but the music playback is great and the fm radio, sdhc slot, can be used as a storage device and optionally you can use their firmware, and other features are great

Cons: The sensor is bad, and there is lag, BUT I installed rockbox over it and it is easily 3x better, it starts up super quick, there is no more horrid input lag, and it is just way better

Other Thoughts: 4 stars because the default firmware blows hard, but with rockbox it becomes a 5

1 out of 5 eggsGARBAGE

Pros: It has a big screen.

Cons: 1. Interface is garbage, very unresponsive buttons.
2. Rhapsody (the program that comes with this "mp3 player") is garbage. It crashes constantly.
3. It has a big screen (battery life is terrible).
4. Rhapsody says I have used 9 gigs on my device. When my device is plugged in, Rhapsody tells me I have all my songs on the device. When I unplug the device, I only have 10 songs on it. 10 freaking songs.
5. Worst purchase I've ever made.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Pros: Great Price, large size. Simple controls.

Cons: Slow start up (20-30 sec) and controls take some getting used to. Touchpad is a bit sensitive, just be gentle with it and it will work for you.

Other Thoughts: SanDisk had a good thing going. They should have spent more time perfecting the great product they had before rebuilding their MP3 Player controls.

A good and fairly priced product.

2 out of 5 eggsInterface Drives Me Insane

Pros: Good sounding music. Good battery life. Good selections of sources, even Ogg Vorbis of which I have many. Good music database (assuming your MP3 tags are accurate-see other thoughts).

Cons: Slow to start. The interface drives me insane. Yes, I read the manual cover-to-cover. Yes, I updated the firmware. There's no way to go to the top or bottom of a list easily. The actions on the touch pad are very context sensitive. Even the 2 second 'push and hold' on the 'back' button doesn't always take you to the main menu as promised. The touch pad itself decides whether or not to record your commands and it is evil. If all you want to do is play random or you've defined your playlists, it's not too painful. Do not try to use this while driving! You will crash either because you are not paying attention or because you will want to end it all. I gave up on it. I'd give it away but I like my friends. Enemies? Hmmmm.

Other Thoughts: The music database is only as good as the accuracy of your mp3 tags and Vorbis comments. I used a tool called mp3tag v. 2.49 to clean them up before I transferred them over to the player and it was goodness.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat MP3 Player for the price

Pros: This little MP3 Player is a great gift for those who can't afford (or refuse) to buy another more well established MP3 player. It plays MP3's (of course)/WMA/Secure WMA/Ogg Vorbis/FLAC/WAV/Audible/ and Po, and it also has a built in FM tuner, and plays audio books, podCasts, and videos, and does photo slide shows.

I'd definitely recommend that you update the firmware first after getting this.

You can add memory (micro SD/SDHC) to it. The largest sold right now is a 32GB one, meaning you can add 2x the storage that's already on the player for a total of up to 48GB memory: 16GB built in + 32GB microSD) for about $40.

I don't use slotRadio/slotMusic. If you do, it will take up the slot for the microSD card.

I use MusicBee for my media player on my laptop, and it seamlessly updates the Fuze+.

Very nice QVGA display.

Cons: Ditch the cheap headphones and get a nice pair of Sennheiser or SkullCandy.

Other Thoughts: I use this in my truck when I don't want to listen to the radio, using an FM tuner.

While the touchpad section of the player is slightly more sensitive than some of the other players, if you don't hamfist it, it should be ok. I have had no trouble with it at all, and it is about the same as any other MP3 Players I've used.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid this Product

Pros: Not really a consideration in light of below.

Cons: Very simply, this product DOES NOT WORK.
The touch controls can not be made to work. Out of frustration that I was going to break the device, I thought it would be better to give it to someone who could use it. I gave this device to two other people, both of them ended up giving it back to me, indicating that it was way too frustrating; in other words this mp3 player was not worth "Free".
As it turned out, I did eventually break it, I suppose by rubbing across the "TOUCH" controls too hard too many times, the screen tuned white and all it will do is play the same song over and over.

Other Thoughts: For those of you wondering, yes, I did update the firmware several times. And no, I am not 'used to' iPod's and just want to flame the other brands. One of my previous mp3 players was a Sansa, and was very happy with it (the controls worked).

If you are still thinking about this device, read all of the other reviews regarding the terrible touch controls. I am not alone in my frustration, and my player seems to have last longer than many.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent MP3 Player

Pros: I bought this to plug into our Honda Civic and let it shuffle songs. That's all I use it for and all I needed. It works flawless for this purpose and is great on long trips.

Cons: It's true that the controls are a bit too sensitive, but you can get use to it by handling it carefully.

Other Thoughts: "This is not an iPod" reviews make me sick. If you wanted an iPod WHY DIDN'T YOU BUY ONE!!

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: . Sounds good
. Plays videos good
. Looks good
. FM Radio works well, and is a very nice feature
. Tons of storage by way of the micro sd slot.
. Drag-n-drop of music folder from computer works pretty well.
. plays ogg files
. Lots of features for the $$

Cons: The human interface is poorly done, because:
. the controls are overly sensitive
. controls can be inadvertently asserted in several ways (sliding into a pocket, for example)
. is virtually impossible to operate without looking at
. trys too hard to be iPod Touch-like.

The unit uses the still less common thinner USB micro B connector instead of the widely available Mini AB connector. I had to buy a few adapters for several $$.

It gets confused over filenames in some cases whereas iPod gets it correct.

Does not work right with Windows Media Player, Win Amp or ITunes. And Rhapsody didn't install and work at all.

Other Thoughts: I really wanted to love this device, a Christmas present from my wife.

As someone else said, it would be far better with tactile controls, or at least some Braille-like bumps to find your way. I'm consider putting some tiny epoxy drops on it for this reason.

I listen to a lot of audio books, particularly from LibriVox. The Fuze+ simply cannot get the book chapters in the right order. It takes filename editing on the computer to fix it. IPod - no problem.

Even with the controls "deactivated" the unit still interprets false commands from sliding abound a little in a pocket (an optional windowed case mitigates this a bit, perhaps by design).

I gave up trying to find a media player with which it works correctly. I now simply treat it like a flash drive.

1 out of 5 eggsEveryone was right

Pros: It sounds good and supports more formats than most.

Cons: Touch controls are lousy and navigation is a pain. I knew this from other revues but most of the reviewers were satisfied despite this. I am not. I will soon be in the market for a replacement.

2 out of 5 eggsnot as good as I thought it was GOING to be...

Pros: !!! This is an UPDATE to my previous review --
microSD slot, FM Tuner, Sounds GREAT with a good pair of earbuds I highly recommend the NuForce NE-700X as they beat everything within the next 3 higher price catagories.

Cons: the touch controls on this thing are HORRIBLE, absolute C.R.A.P.... I have updated firmware, spent HOURS going through every mp3 I have making sure all the ID3 tags were of a specific version and no weird characters, but the response time on the controls are frea.king ABSURD... sanDisk TOTALLY BLEW IT on these stupid controls... this thing is literally a paperweight now, or a "pretty looking flash drive" but as an mp3 player it is COMPLETELY USELESS...

Other Thoughts: the only reason I'm giving it a second star is there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for sanDisk, not because they are any closer to fixing it, but because it seems some devs at rockbox are working on a set of 3rd party firmware, now if they can manage to keep the support for rhapsody, this will be AWESOME, but if not, it will just be OK (if you use rhapsody, you know what I'm talking about)
