eton G4 World Recorder FM/AM/Shortwave Portable Radio with MP3 and SD Player NG4B

Pros: Very good quality.Body has a good rubber coating to absorb any falls or shocks. Loads of functions. Loaded MP3's on sd card and flash ,both working great .Nice carry case too. This is not your ordinary am/fm radio. Look forward to taking it camping, hiking, to the beach - well i think you get the picture.Nuff said . :)

Other Thoughts: Don't usually write reviews , but in this case i think this little radio has not been given a fair shake. Advise reading instructions very well before trying to program or operate this unit. It looks like some people have had some bad luck right off the bat .Guess i was 1 of the lucky ones .

Pros: Small, reasonably good reception, lot of features, two selectivity positions. awesome price at $47

Cons: small, lots of features and hard to understand labels and bad manual make a distasteful learning curve. no tuning knob. no fine tuning to between 5 kHz steps. equalizer doesn't work in radio mode.
no cheat sheet on back of radio under tilt stand.

Other Thoughts: for $47, this is a steal. you just have to play with it a lot to learn how to use it because the stupid manual is so incomplete. this would be a great radio to take with you on a trip or hike. there have been many complaints about the recording quality, well, it is just fine for recording SW and MW braoadcasts which should be the primary purpose of that feature ! for me its a keeper and I have owned over 200 shortwave radios in my life.

When the product's best attribute is it's being returned for a full refund- what else can you say?

Other Thoughts: Mp3 function seems to have been an afterthought with no buttons dedicated to playback control or file navigation. Does not support file names, or playlists. It simply plays the files in the order in which they were written to the flash of SD memory. Seems to have major problems with files inside folders- like making a folder for the tracks of each album. Computer failed to recognize USB device after being connected for a few min- had to remove the batts from the radio in order to connect it to the computer again.
My particular unit hasn't played one complete MP3 track yet without shutting down or simply stopping somewhere in the track. It also has some stuttering with tracks played from SD card.
Overall a very frustrating unit- If there was an option for zero eggs- that's what I's give this unit.

PS- I did try AM radio- just OK reception, tried FM- very poor rejection of adjacent channels.

Pros: Many useful functions at an sensational low price.

Cons: Plasticky - very light. Cannot say much about this product because mine arrived DOA.

Other Thoughts: Once you hold it in your hands, you understand why it costs so little. In any case, that's only the initial cost - Newegg charges shipping for the RMA.

Pros: Nice build + finish, compact size. Outlet powered mp3 player.

Cons: I transferred one song to the internal flash and it played. The next time I tried to enter mp3 mode it wouldn't, and I called the customer support line and they told me it was defective and I should RMA it.
Also the manual is very poorly organized.
Capacity for SD card is slated as max of only 2Gb.

Other Thoughts: Now I have to shell out for an RMA the same day I received this "product".
