Pros: Beats the socks off of apple products in terms of ease of use. Drag and drop files! Sound quality, equalizer, and picture quality are excellent, and the external speakers are a nice touch.

Cons: Screen scratches just a bit too easy, though the product does feel very solid.

Other Thoughts: This device is easy to use between multiple computers and the included software on the device is very intuitive.

Both have performed well, thus far

Pros: Sony quality with more features than their similarly priced Apple competitor, external speakers (with teenagers using them, this can also be a con), doesn't require using interface software (Windows Media Player, iTunes, etc) to move songs back and forth - some consider this a con but I do not.

Cons: None found yet

Other Thoughts: Each of my teenage boys got one of these for Christmas (1 black, 1 red) and have been happy with them, thus far. I liked the fact that they didn't require Windows Media Player to interface with them, but you can use it if you like it. So, at minimum, they can just connect it to the PC, browse the folder and drag & drop files as needed. I like simplicity. In choosing, I gave each of my boys the option of one of these or a refurbished 16GB iP0d (the previous version with no camera), which were identically priced. Both chose this one, with the selling points being (1) more buttons (2) bigger view screen (3) external speakers & (4) simpler usage. Both are happy with their S545 & both are doing everything with them on their own, so I am happy.

Pros: Built in speakers, clear sounds, light weight, click and drag transfer, fm radio, and voice recorder.

Cons: Doesn't have a power button, only standby. Limited video format and can't create playlist from player (must be done through windows media player11). Oh and no sd card slot for expanded memory.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm very satisfied with my purchase. It's a lot lighter than I expected but still feels really strong and sturdy. Nice slim and sleek look. The external speakers are fairly loud and sounds great, headphone volume quality is great (as expected from sony). Easy to navigate. The only problem I really have with this player is that it doesn't have a power button, when you press power it just puts the player on standby, it'll only completely shut off once it's been inactive for 4hours or more. While on standby it's still using up some battery so that's quite a pain in the you know what.

None the less, still a really great media player with a lot of memory for the price.
