Pros: The screen is phenomenal. The capacitive glass interface (same as that oh so elegant benchmark) is wonderful. Although it is a tad clunky at first (this is my first touchscreen device...), it quickly becomes easy. The trick is not to try to double click; select, then click again and it'll work swimmingly.
The sound quality is through the roof! There are a bunch of settings, I've yet to try them all, but gosh darn, just the headphone option sounds great.
Watching videos on the screen is a treat. It may be somewhat small, but the brightness, clarity and other benefits to the OLED easily make up for it.
Many reviews on the internet bashed the s9 for being too light and feeling "cheap". I think these people need to shut their mouths... Since when is a portable device being light a bad thing? It seems pretty solid to me, and the glass screen should help in the LCD crackage category.
Cons: There's a 32gb version coming soon.
Newegg dropped the price $20 the day I got it... oh well
Other Thoughts: The primary issues identified with the reviews I read were the light weight (again, seriously?). The build quality seems very good and it seems very well constructed. Things fit tightly where they should. I read one guy complain that he thought the play/pause button was a stylus and almost ripped it off. I don't think the user being an idiot counts as a flaw.
The only other substantial criticism seemed to orbit around the UI. I installed the newest firmware immediately upon getting the thing (after listening to a song and watching a video), and I don't find ANY flaws. In fact, I prefer this UI to the "oh so elegant benchmark". I don't like how goofy that thing is, this is more all-business. It may take 15 mins to navigate through and figure all the functions out, but a 15 min investment makes the thing completely intuitive. The scrolling could be better... but it's by no means a major flaw, just a minor nit, and it may very well get fixed in some future firmware release.

Best 16gb ~250$ Audio player out there

Pros: Oh where to start... OLED screen defeats the iphone and iRivers in Screen Quality JetEffects 2.0 with BBE, BBE Viva, And BBE Viva 2 and custom 5 band EQ with available preset frequency adjustments. and oh yeah, It's impossible to scratch the screen. I tried a xacto knife (only after i saw someone else attempt it). Awesome battery life, 55 hours rated, but i don't know, i've never been able to last 24 hours without plugging it in... Has Great potential in Developing UI, as it is all flash-based and today it's entire souce code was unofficially released. Very light, feels like it's not there in my pocket.
Cons: you need Adobe Flash to create UI's. The Screen has lots of glare in the sun, even on it's highest brightness. Lack of Lanyard hole. Video codes are a bit lacking, especially the absence of h.264.
Other Thoughts: I'm using it with a PX100 and usually in my pocket, I got the hold enabled so that my legs don't activate the touch screen. Cowon allowed us to only apply hold to the screen, therefore i am still able to change volume, play/pause, and change songs. There are firmware updates about every 2 to 3 weeks now, since i got mine while version number was 2.05, it has gone though two updates already.
I do believe that the s9 has capabilities to decode H.264 due to its 500mhz dual core, and oddly the german Spec sheet even listed ACC as an upcoming codec.

Pros: This thing has by far the greatest screen on a PMP I've ever seen. Gorilla glass is unscratchable. Was curious myself so I ran my keys over it. Not even a scratch. The audio quality is superb. Definitely get a good pair of headphones to utilize it to its fullest. After spending nearly 3 minutes getting used to the interface, I must say it's the best I've ever used. That includes the white/chrome benchmark everything seems to be judged by these days.
The construction quality is top. I've banged this thing around and dropped it quite a few times and it's none the worse for wear. I also imagine this is why the headphone port has such a tight fit, with a satisfying *click* when you get it fully in. It can easily support the entire weight of the player if it ever falls and the only thing within reach is your headphones. Another great feature is having the physical buttons combined with the touch screen. It may not seem like much, but being able to change songs in your pocket is nice.
Cons: It's a finger print magnet, but what do you expect? It's not only a touch screen PMP, but it has a chrome trim around the edge. It also doesn't come with AC adapter, but it's hardly a negative for me. I'm on my laptop all the time so I just have it plugged in. Could be a negative for some, but isn't for me.
Other Thoughts: Another great thing about this, and all COWON players is the great support. A new firmware update is released every 1-3 months, adding newer and better features. FIRST thing you need to do when you get this is update the firmware. You might be a bit disappointed like I was, seeing how clunky and unresponsive the interface was right out of box. Trust me, update the firmware, it improves the player's interface 10-fold.
Another thing I feel I need to mention is the great community. I'm not sure if I can put the actual URL in or not, so I'll just say head to the COWON site, and look up the page that sends you to the forum to download all sorts of games, and customizable UI. I've got the Ultimate Aero G1 theme on my player, and I have to say. It's awesome. The speed is increased even further from the general s9 interface, which is already fast enough. Infact, there's even a Ultimate Aero G2 beta up, but I'm waiting for it to finalize before I download it. Get this player, it's that simpl

Pros: Used it for a week before even thinking about charging it. Customizable sound, to any taste imaginable... Paired this player with Bose ear-buds,songs I know and hear all the time still amaze me at what detail & small background sounds I can't ever recall hearing...
Cons: Can't think ,Music is too LOUD.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money on anything else, unless you need the 32G. Cowon seems to ROCK my world<><><><> and of coarse Newegg RULES************

Pros: Listen, I was stress out a whole month researching mp3/video players before commiting to the S9. At first it's great, but it gets better after the firmware updates and the community's custom UCIs. With good headphones/earbuds (stock earbuds suck) you can have your own party/club in your ears. Seriously, my brother and sister both have ipods and I compared a few songs on both devices with the same earbuds and trust me the player does matter. S9 will blow the ipods away with sound and battery life, not to mention the screen is scratch resistant. If you're a audiophile looking for a great small durable mp3 player that will have your ears in heaven S9 is for you.
Cons: Bluetooth is not it's strong feature, drains the battery fast but still transfer great sound. No wifi.
Other Thoughts: Get your self some good headphones/earphones. I have currently: Radius Trutune earphones and Audio Techinca ATH-ON3W. Radius Earphones and Audio Techinca have great budget headphones with great sound.
