Pros: It's a lightweight, versatile and stylish pmp. The audio quality is the best I've experienced in a pmp. Ipods and Zunes can't match the sound the S9 is capable of recreating. It has a vibrant display - amoled is the way of the future. Battery life of this pmp is through the roof. I've owned this unit for about a week now and I've charged it once since taking it out of the box and that's with movies, music and constant tinkering. It's not a mainstream pmp so users will have to pair it up with some sort of music management program as JetRadio (shipped with the pmp) isn't all that great imo. Media Monkey has proven to be a great pick in my case and I've been using Slysoft programs to create the movies.
Cons: The interface can be a little confusing. The capacitive touchscreen seems to be the way to go these days but I found that I'm not a big fan...something I'll get used to in the coming days I'm sure. The "g-sensor" which senses the orientation of the screen tends to lag when used while watching a movie or playing music unlike the ipod touch but it's really not that bad at all and it's still quite responsive and sensitive. In addition, having to download and or pay for additional software to add ease-of-use is not great. I paid for Media Monkey and the slysoft programs to make my life easier with a non mainstream pmp.
Other Thoughts: All in all, I LOVE my S9. I'm totally into listening to lossless music (flac) and yes, the S9 now supports H.264 playback. The early reviews panned the pmp for lacking this ability. The battery life cannot be beat. It's lightweight, the glass is tough! It's Corningware Gorilla Glass. It has some hard buttons and that makes using the pmp in my pocket easier which includes pausing the music on the fly since there's a dedicated button to that feature. The USB port is covered (not a feature on the Zune and Ipod - Boooo!). There are definitely some faults but they are not show stoppers. Far from it. I absolutely love my S9. Flac + decent headphones = pure joy for this first time Cowon owner. If you're willing to put extra work into managing music and movies, this player's for you. Note: Download and update the S9 with 2.3 firmware (very easy to do!). The unit ships with 2.1. The extra features are great! Please refer to Cowonamerica.com website.

Pros: Sound quality is ridiculous, it sounds on par with the my X-Fi in my desktop. Many many options for customizing your sound as well. They give you a five band EQ with not only customizable gain on each band, but you can also change the frequency range of each band! I can't stress the sound quality of this player enough. It's not just the sound that impresses though, the AMOLED screen is absolutely gorgeous. You'll see it and instantly wish your LCD monitor could provide such rich colors and deep blacks. The Corning Gorilla Glass is amazing as well since this is the first time an MP3 player has kept it's sharps looks and glossy finish without scratches for more than a few days for me. I expect it will hold out for quite awhile without taking any wear and tear. Also, you can drag and drop music onto the player, or use a program such as Winamp to sync it with your collection.
Cons: Doesn't have the pick up and play factor the iPod has. I had no problems with the interface since I'm a tech-savvy teenager, but some people might find it slightly hard to navigate at first.
Other Thoughts: RECOMMENDATION: For use in a busy environment, I highly suggest picking up a pair of Sennheiser HD202s for this player. They're a perfect match, and are sure to blow away any thoughts of quality music you had before. They average under thirty bucks so it's definitely worth it.
Also a HUGE pro: battery life. The player came pre-charged out of the box and I proceeded to tinker with it for an hour or so, threw a few albums on it, listened to it for a few hours three days in a row, then forgot to turn it off in my car while at work(it kept playing one album on loop for eight and a half hours) and the battery still has about 25% left!

Pros: Amazing sound and video quality. everything can be tweaked to your liking
Cons: do NOT try to mount this in GNU/Linux. There is a known issue with the data transfer process that the device handles things "weird". Cowon worked with MS and set up the process. If you mount and file transfer in GNU/Linux, you will have the player brick. It happened to my first one, luckily newegg was good about the RMA process and got me a new one. I just mount and file transfer and windows, and it is no problem.

Pros: Great sound quality, it is truly outstanding, I cannot directly compare to Ipood, since I lost my 3GS, but I would say that there is more detail in the highend and lowend. Steady stream of firmware updates.
Cons: User interface still in development
Other Thoughts: Oh and the OLED screen is nice, but I consider this a music player first and formost. The Beatles remastered FLAC on this pmp was heavenly. Paired with Weststone UM3X, please ditch the stock earbuds!

Pros: Absolutely beautiful screen, completely scratch resistant with no protection. Can keep keys+this in same pocket. Great sound. GREAT battery life. Decent ordering system
Cons: One big problem for me is scrolling...on an iPhone or something the kinetic scrolling works perfectly, this thing can never tell whether Im trying to scroll quickly or stop it from scrolling, and it results in a very jittery scroll down.
NO SEARCH FUNCTION that I have found.
You really need to download a media transcoder even though this thing covers MANY formats, it is picky about certain aspects of the format. Lack of wifi makes this hard to buy instead of an ipod touch, so think of it as a better ipod video.
