2 out of 5 eggsOk if you like that kinda thing

Pros: Small... That's about it.

Cons: 1) The touch screen sucks (use of a stylus helps)
2) No google app store just a weak ARCHOS version(Side load another app store to fix that)
3) Battery life is bad
4) No memory expansion
5)Price (NOT WORTH $100)

Other Thoughts: For the price of 108 dollars you could buy two Chicom tablets that will out preform this mini "tablet" any day. Lucky for me I purchased mine for half this price to use as an mp3 player so I wasn't out too much cash. This would make a great gift for a small child if it were way cheaper($10 is all this is worth.)

Bottom line, Save your money and pick up a cheap $50 no name tablet or dish out a few more bucks and buy something that is reputable. I Honestly wouldn't gift this to my worst enemy.

4 out of 5 eggsArchos 28

Pros: I bought this around Christmas 2010 and have been using it on a daily bases with very limited problems. The first few updates caused it to become unstable and laggy *but the most recent updates have fixed all the issues.*

I use mine for streaming live radio stations and it sounds great using MP3 Logitech deep base speakers.

5 out of 5 eggsunderstand what you are buying

Pros: · unrestricted (plays almost all media & allows sideloading apk's)
· charges fast,·
· small/thin/lightweight
· option to run full Ångström Linux
· best tiny internet PMP for <100 bucks

Cons: · 128mb ram
· no speaker
· no camera
· 4:3 aspect ratio
· no memory card

Other Thoughts: This unit has no competition. 73 bucks & free shipping. But because of the cons listed above, I wish I'd've bought the Archos 32 for the extra money. I didn't do the 2.2 update. I know Android on a technical level and I believe it functions more effectively on 2.1. The browser is nice to DL videos/apps/music, but it's not for surfing. The other option I considered was to get an unlocked Android phone to use as a PMP. That would fix all of the cons, but they're expensive. My 3yo child is the primary user, mostly for kids games and videos. (btw, there are plenty of parental control apps. I use one that only allows authorized apps to run) As of this post, I have not experienced any locksups, crashes, or hardware failures. I gave it 5 eggs because it works better that I expected.

1 out of 5 eggsThere is a reason they don't allow returns for a refund

Pros: -You would think that the Pro's would be the following:
-It's cheap
-It runs android 2.2
-It's light weight
Turns out non of theses thing were what I was expecting

Cons: -It's poorly made
-You have to reset it every time to turn it on
-Nothing will run on it
-I have never seen android run so horribly
-The screen is not only poorly responsive but good luck trying to click on anything near the edge of the screen!

Other Thoughts: Do not buy this! As you can see a lot of people are unhappy with it. Take the time to buy a more expensive unit.

3 out of 5 eggsNuetral

Pros: The price was pretty good. For 99.99 I got a 4gb mp3 player that also surfed the net.

Cons: The back face plate broke and doesn't shut all the way because it uses a very thin cheap plastic piece. Also the wifi quit working for no apparent reason.

Other Thoughts: It still makes for a good mp3 player and also came with a good pair of HD headphones. Newegg is the best.

3 out of 5 eggsHit or Miss quality

Pros: Great price point for an Android device
Once you update firmware you can access most Android marketplace apps
Did I mention the price? I got mine at 99 (it is now 89 or lower)

Cons: Touch screen is too sensitive and easily becomes annoying.
Crashes too often....
and then after 3 weeks mine died.

Other Thoughts: I am returning to Newegg and hoping to get the same model but without the crashing.

3 out of 5 eggssome corners were cut

Pros: It's cheap and has very little competition. Getting the full marketplace on it is not at all challenging.

I've been impressed with the product so far. It is mostly functional and remains the cheapest android device I've come across with near-reasonable specs, especially in this form factor.

The resistive touch screen / typing (at least the actual keyboard) is shockingly not much of a problem at all, and I have decent sized hands.

Cons: Archos didn't really think this one through. For example: those permanent software buttons are a bit too close to your virtual keyboard when you flip it on it's side to type. You will find yourself getting irritated quite fast at the fact you'll inevitably hit the home button while trying to do something. I expect one can eventually get used to this though, as it slightly helps just to flip it so the bottom of the device is in your left hand instead of your right.

*The permanent funky plastic coating over the screen: After less than a day of use (using only my very clean fingers and not pressing overly hard, might I add) I ended up with a funky blotch that I can only describe as 'oil on asphalt'. No true damage seems to have come of this strange little growing blotch, but it is incredibly ugly and if you're detail oriented it may drive you nuts, as it is just ever-so-slightly recognizable when powered on

(the screen problem is apparently common among archos tablets)

Other Thoughts: the network indicator always displays 1 bar, no matter how close I am to the router, but I seem to be able to pick up the signal just fine from all around my small apartment and even a ways out the door. Possibly just a 2.2 bug (it had an earlier firmware on it when I got it which didn't do this)

The music app archos provides is quite decent, while in my experience, the one for video is absolutely worthless. It crashed over and over until I was forced to find something to replace it in the full market, which worked out much better in the end.

Overall if you don't mind the screen getting a little weird looking (noticeable mainly when turned off) and a bit of tinkering to add more features and applications then this is a fair buy.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Tablet worked fine.. for a while

Cons: Newegg said that the tablet was dropped, therefor not covered, that it had a crack in the case. When I returned it, that was NOT the case. The display simply stopped working. Then they said they were returning the tablet, to which I have still yet to even see.

Other Thoughts: I purchased after I learned of newegg on facebook. I had hoped that this would have been resolved, and posted a positive review. I didn't mind it took a while to get here, it was Christmas, afterall, even though I paid for FedEx Next day. The way they treated me after the sale is wrong. That will be on facebook, too.

4 out of 5 eggsCool on a budget

Pros: Great battery life
Compact/Highly portable
Very Clear Screen
Runs wide range of media formats

Cons: Doesn't come with a wall charger, only a USB cable. This isn't a big deal, because you can pick up your own for cheap if you want one. Charges relatively fast on computer/USB.

Wireless a 'little' weak. Not a big deal given the price.

Other Thoughts: I had my doubts when I purchased this device. I hadn't had a hands on experience with Android yet, and over the years I have tried many hand-held mp4 players that haven't lived up to the product description. This product is different.

I recommend particular apps if you want to get the most out of your device. Before you do anything update to Android 2.2 FROYO. This can be done easily from the settings menu if you have a a wireless connection. I also recommend RockPlayer(Lots of Video Codecs) for videos, and PowerAMP(Nice EQ and Tone settings) for playing music back. I've tried a lot of the different apps for playing music and videos. Both of the above mentioned players give it the widest range of media types that I could find.

Also, I recommend Skyfire web browser. It allows you to download files and save them to your device.

I've been having a blast with mine ever since I got it in the mail. It's ALMOST like having a desktop in your palm.

Pros: network is fine, easy to use

Cons: I ordered this on 2/21 and it stopped working this afternoon 3/7. I was listening to a book this morning and couldn't to restart it this afternoon even I tried 2 laptops to recharge it. It's just dead and that's all.
