4 out of 5 eggsSmall and Powerful Unit.

Pros: Great sound quality, very small size. No need for any special software, connects like an external HDD; drag and drop. Had the unit for over a week and the battery charge is still going. FM radio uses your headphones as an antenna and auto tuning is accurate and fast. Works with Macs.

Cons: Latest firmware upgrade broke the main menu navigation for me. Had to downgrade the firmware back to stock. Had some minor glitches with recognizing some mp3 files (turning the unit off and back on again solves it).

Other Thoughts: Supplied headphones are alright for using the unit right out of the box, make sure you have, or pickup, some better ones.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Player, when it's on SALE... :-)

Pros: good-enough sound quality, long battery life, ease of file transfer, small size

Cons: not enough bass or highs (not 20hz to 20khz)
earphones keep fallin out of my ear, unless jammed in :-)

but... the main complaint from me to Philips is ...

*** DOES NOT RECORD FROM FM RADIO ***

Philips took OUT that feature, but didn't let all the retailers know,
'cause I saw it mentioned as also recording from FM radio in ads for it...
and Philips says it records FM ... in the user manual, so ... it must have
had that feature in one of the early firmware revs.

anyone know where it may be?
or, ... has anyone hacked the firmware? :-)

Philips customer support said it was removed because the FCC made them.

so why do other manufacturers mp3 players allow FM radio recording?

maybe Philips is too cheap to pay the licensing fees!!

Other Thoughts: overall it's still a good unit, but for me being able to record from FM Radio
was the reason I purchased it, along with voice recording and mp3 playback,
you'd expect it to also record from the radio too, as the user manual says.

shame on you Philips ... !

5 out of 5 eggsSweet

Pros: Cheap. Small. Good sound. Good interface.

Cons: Only 2G. No video.

Other Thoughts: Bought this as a simple player for my wife. Really surprised by how nice it is. I got an amazing price a week ago, with free shipping, so I thought I'd take a chance -- not any reviews at the time. I'd get another (or 2) at that deal. I could see having a few of these.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes audio books

Pros: Puts the Philips driver software in the systray for easy reference. This puppy took 13 CDs from an audio book that I ripped, and there was still at least 56 percent unused space!! Plays well and comes with great documentation. It has an informative black and white mini LCD display that helps the user to navigate among the various options that are available, and it plays radio.

Cons: Ear buds are kind of uncomfortable, but they work.

Other Thoughts: If you listen to lots of audio books because of a long commute, this is the device to get. I can't speak for the music quality, as I have 4 other mp3 players (Creative MuVo TXFM (1GB), Creative MuVo 100 (1GB), and 2 1GB Creative Zen Stones) that I use to listen to audio books from the library and simplyaudiobooks.com, this is the first 2GB MP3 player, and I must say it will be more convenient for me to listen to large audio book exceeding 20 or more CDs. Thanks Newegg!!!

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Little Gem

Pros: Nice and compact. Outstanding Sound Quality. Folder Options. Equalizer. Just an outstanding little MP3 player. Just what I was looking for to replace an iPod Nano that decided to stop working. Much better sound quality to me.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Bought 5 of these little dudes. One for me, and 4 for the kids/grandkids for Christmas presents. It feels well constructed. Haven't dropped it or anything, but we'll see how they handle them after Christmas. Super fast shipping from Newegg as always! Explains why I keep coming back to Newegg for everything!
