-PLUH!
-Everything the 120GB iPod has, and more!

5 out of 5 eggsBest MP3 Player EVER!

Pros: I can't say enough positive things about the Zune. To start, you should know that it requires its own software to use. It is not compatible with MediaPlayer. But anything info will automatically transfer over to the Zune software. But let me say that I love the Zune software. I always thought that MediaPlayer was more than a just a few steps ahead of iTunes as far as ease of use, but the Zune software is even easier to navigate.
The storage is massive. I have about 450 CDs, around 70 videos, etc., and still can't get close to filling the darn thing!
My last MP3 was a Sansa, and that thing was constantly crashing, but I've never had the slightest problem with my Zune. It always loads up and hasn't had so much as a hiccup.

Cons: The biggest drawback that I have noticed is the battery life. This isn't too unexpected. The trade off with the high memory is the fact that you can't use flash memory. It has a hard drive, and it takes a bit more battery to run it. I think that Microsoft estimates the battery life at something like 30 hours? I haven't been able to get that much out of it. Probably expect to get something close to half that, 12-15 hours.
It doesn't come with a wall charger. But I was able to pick up a little kit from e Bay for around $20, and I've been happy. But having it included would be nice.
One thing that I will admit that I liked about my Sansa is that you could access all of the files right through My Computer. You could just drop a music/video file right into it. The Zune does not show up, nor is it accessible through My Computer.

Other Thoughts: I really don't think that you can go far wrong with this Zune. I just can't get over the storage capacity! 120 gigs is a lot more than you might think.
It is also so easy to use and navigate! Ipods just don't come close to the Zune in performance. Microsoft has won me over with this one! Next time I'm in the market for an MP3 player, it will definitely be a Zune. If Microsoft comes out with a ZuneHD with a higher capacity, I'll be the first one to snatch it up!

I LOVE IT!!!!!

Cons: Not one...I was worried that it is larger than my daughters ipod but the size is great...easy to use, easy to see and great color and picture quality.....

2 out of 5 eggsGreat device, if you can get it to work

Pros: The navigation when using the zune is easy and intuitive, the extra large screen size is very nice is well. The fact that you can use it as a video output just by plugging it into a TV is great, and the having an FM radio is a bonus as well. Overall it is a very attractive device, and I was really looking forward to using it...

Cons: The first thing I did when I received my zune was try to turn it on...which did not work. I plugged it to my computer, saw a small battery logo on the screen (assumed it just needed a quick charge) and waited about an hour....still would not turn on. I then left it plugged in overnight, and it finally would turn on the next day.

The zune software is a bit clunky and difficult to figure out at first. You need to have all of your ID3 tags properly updated or else it will be a nightmare (there is no option to view by file name). Once I got my music properly tagged, I started creating playlists within the zune software...and found that when I was finished, there were a lot songs missing, apparently it did not upload them all. So I removed everything and did it a second time, and this time it (thankfully) uploaded everything.

(con't below)

Other Thoughts: After connecting my zune and updating, I tried to sync my music. It synced about 15 of 3442 songs, then stopped with an error message, saying the zune was no longer connected (which it clearly was). I clicked "sync" again, and it was able to sync about 10 more songs before I received the same error. So I tried trudging through for about an hour (wirelessly and wired), 15 songs at a time, before I gave that up. I then tried restarting, re-installing zune software, re-installing device drivers, and I cannot for the life of me get MUSIC on the ZUNE.

Truly sad, I was really looking forward to using the zune as I am not a fan of apple, but it looks like I will have to go back to my 4th gen ipod video.

I did not purchase this from newegg, I bought from dell (newegg didn't have the "Gears of War" edition zune), and will be returning it this weekend. Being a frequent newegg user I just wanted to give a heads up on my experience.

NEW EGG ROCKS!!!!!

4 out of 5 eggsI'm impressed

Pros: Large screen, 120gb, user friendly, Software was way better than I expected, the games are good: poker, asteroids, soduko, and a couple others

Cons: battery life seems a bit shorter than my old 80gb ipod, doesn't read .avi files for movies

Other Thoughts: Zune software is pretty sweet, read all my music files and all my pics and had it sync'd in no time. It sync's Itunes libraries which was a definate plus. The wide screen for videos is good. Decent price, fast shipping, I am in iraq and got it in 7 days :)

3 out of 5 eggscompetes with ipod but..

Pros: The display is bright and clear, movies look great on it. The sound quality is competitive with the iPod. 120GB harddrive is big enough to last for quite awhile. Wireless Sync takes some getting used to, but is handy if you're low on USB ports. The software looks better than the iTunes application. Got it with a bundle that included the A/V adapter to play music/videos straight to my tv, which also works well. The ability to send music directly to another Zune is pretty impressive, if you can find someone else with a Zune. Also has a few games on it, but most of which can be beated in about 10 minutes then aren't fun anymore. More can be purchased via MS Marketplace.

Cons: The controls are more complicated than the iPod's click-wheel. If you don't push the center button straight down to select something, it thinks you're pushing either Left or Right and takes you to another menu. The device will remain On even if the screen is off, draining battery life. The software doesn't allow you to put songs on a "skip" list, for those that just like to shuffle all of their music but want some permanently skipped. The display does not dim if it is plugged in to a car adapter, which can be distracting at night.

Other Thoughts: The new ZuneHD is being released soon, which will include Wi-Fi access. This model also has limited wi-fi, but only to the MS Marketplace, and to update the Zune via wireless sync. No web-browsing.

4 out of 5 eggsYes and No

Pros: Sounds good, looks good, sturdy, radio performs well..

Cons: The other video formats appear to be for the Zune application on your pc, not for the Zune itself. WMV works fine, but I have been unable to get any other video formats to work on the Zune itself. Battery life is only good for about 3 hours when playing movies.

Other Thoughts: I have the car pack also, Newegg Item #: N82E16855997252, check it for my review on the car pack.

1 out of 5 eggsBarely passable. Other MP3 players are far better.

Pros: It's not significantly larger or heavier than other HD players. Comes with an asteroids-like game that's kind of fun.
Can share media with other Zune users (although it's limited to a certain number of plays.)
The playlist navigation is not at all bad.
It's spacious (not that this helps you for carrying around anything other than media files.)

Cons: There is NO EQUALIZER. Astonishing, but true.
You cannot use it as an external HD. The only way to get anything onto the unit is to use the Zune software. You can't use it to carry around files other than MP3s or their protected format, and you certainly can't offload them to other computers. If you were thinking of using this as a way to back up your music collection (or anything else) in case you have hard drive problems, forget about it.
The Zune software is INCREDIBLY bloated. The full installer is well over 300 megs.
The controls are not always intuitive. You press the forward arrow to turn it off...?

Other Thoughts: The "squircle" is very glitchy in touch-sensitive mode, but you can turn that off, so it just becomes an 8-way "hat switch."

Other MP3 players let you do stuff like using them as an external HD and allowing you to simply drag files to AND FROM the device rather than forcing you to use one-way properietary software. This, and the fact that the Zune has NO EQ (but older models DID!!!) makes this player a shoe-in for the "Do Not Buy" list.

Buy a player from a company that actually cares about the end user and respects what they want out of a player.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Player

Pros: Built solid, Screen is very scratch resistant, I happen to like the PC interface, Very easy to navigate through the Zune menus, Tons of storage space.

Cons: I waited too long to get this device.

Other Thoughts: I was originally looking and the IPODS out there but got this as a present and was just blown away by it constuction and simplicity of use. I put about 80% of my CDs on this thing and have only used 10% of its capacity. I don't think I'll ever fill it up. Am I glad I held off from getting the IPOD. don't know what else I can add, just get it.
