3 out of 5 eggsIt works...

Pros: - It plays music without inserting money every time
- It has a touchpad - looks kinda like old iPod nano
- Pretty cheap for features
- Menus look nice
- Somewhat stylish
- FM Radio
- Battery life is decent
- Supports TXT file viewing
- Supports GIF playback

Cons: - Build quality is pretty bad; The seam that goes down the sides of it split apart and let dirt inside, even letting some between the plastic and lcd causing specs

- Screen does not display colors well or compress larger images well

- Controls can be unintuitive - The two buttons to access menus and options take some getting used to, the 4 directional buttons make sense though

- No music playback while charging

- Menus for settings and song selection could use some work

Other Thoughts: This is a delicate item; I did not treat it as such, and it shows. The plastic screen has cracks in it even though it bends so easily, and the chrome paint has scratched off the power slider. The software is still fully functional though.

5 out of 5 eggsGet what you pay for.

Pros: Small Size, Doesn't look too terrible, All I was looking for was something simple

Cons: Terrible media manager that must be used for playlists, website doesn't have the media manager if you delete it off the thing.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this for a girl for valentines day. She recently had her ipod stolen. I know its not a complete replacement for an ipod but its better than her being without music. When I first got it i wiped the thing clean to get the full space. It is kind of my fault because i read the manual and i knew it said to back the stuff up to a hard drive but i ignored that. After I wiped it i just dragged and dropped music from the computer to the drive and then created playlists with winamp and just put them in the playlist folder. I had to set up playlists for each album because when you go to artists it doesnt give an album breakdown, just a list. After setting up 40 playlist i looked on the thing and found out it wasnt reporting the simple .pls files i had loaded on there. I had to find a forum post with a copy of the media program because it isnt on the Coby webpage. The playlist function on the media manager is easy now that i figured it out. You lightly tap the buttons to work.

4 out of 5 eggsNot a bad MP3 player

Pros: Slim & lightweight. Decent sound for the price

Cons: Can't listen to music while charging. The touch area can be a bit slow to respond, but is too sensitive. It will sometimes think I pressed prev/next track when I'm just holding it.

Other Thoughts: Can't really expect iPod quality for $40.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware!

Pros: Don't know of any because I only wanted audio book capability.

Cons: Already returned because this device does not have the built-in speaker as advertised and cannot play downloaded audio books, although it has a sample audio book pre-loaded. The sample plays but nothing plays that comes from NY public library or through Windows Media Player.

Other Thoughts: Specs need to be accurate, not advertising features they don't have, and need to be clear that audio books cannot be played from all sources.

4 out of 5 eggsgood player

Pros: 1. Cover art displayed on screen if in mp3 metadata
2. Reproduced music well even with provided headphones
3. Photos looked nice on display
4. FM radio is okay.
5. Battery lasted about 10hrs of continuous music play w/ some photo browsing and occasional changes to genre/playlist
6. Aesthetically pleasing
7. Recognized automatically by Win7, syncs with no issue with WMP (never bothered with Coby's included software)

Cons: 1. Controls are not consistent between file types.
2. Controls not intuitive at times
3. Sluggish response to button inputs
4. Very limited file types for video
5. FM radio suffered in a pocket
6. Provided headphones not that comfortable
7. 3.6 gigs of 4 gigs available after deleting included music, photos and software

Other Thoughts: When pressing M or = inputs, there may or may not be lag or unresponsiveness depending on what you were doing. Once you're used to its temperament it is less of an issue, but it can be frustrating at first without patience for learning when to tap again or when to let it catch up.
The controls can be very sensitive to input. The one good thing in this is you can "wiggle" the volume up and down very quickly, the down side is you can accidentally trigger buttons you didn't mean to by getting a finger too close to them.
At vol 15 (about 1/2 max vol) it was more than enough to drawn out a bunch of people talking in a programming lab, at 10 was enough for walking about campus.
The device looks nice and has a bit of heft when holding it in the hand, doesn't feel flimsy.

Assuming the battery charge keeps to around 7-10hrs of playback and the control quirks stay consistent to what I mentioned, it is a good player for the price point. Holds a bit over 900 mp3 files and 30 HD photos for me

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great quality for such a low price.

Cons: Not as many features as an Ipod, but for the price you pay its not much of a con.

Other Thoughts: Would be nice to have a touchscreen.
