Plug-n-Play- No drivers or other software needed to transfer files. (Win 98 requires USB Driver.)
Decent sound quality.
You can browse the folders directly on the player.
Cons: Can't browse folders while music is playing- have to pause first.
Folders and Files are listed in the order they were transferred.
No way to sort music by artist, album, genre, etc.
Random play mode only uses current folder.
Slow transfer speeds. It's a USB 2.0 device but it doesn't get anywhere close to 2.0 speeds.
Other Thoughts: This is a good player for $20.00. It's essentially a 2GB Flash drive with a built-in mp3 player. My XP and Win 7 systems recognized it immediately as a removable flash drive (usb 2.0 HS). Just drag and drop folders and files. File transfers are slow, however. Seems more like USB 1.0.
I use mp3tag, which by default saved the tags as ID3v2.3 UTF-16- they did not display correctly on the player. ID3v2.4 UTF-8 is compatible with the player.
Pros: None - there is nothing good about ths piece of junk It doesn't rate even the one egg I gave it - but you have to give it something to submit a review - this is pure Chinese junk.
Cons: First off, a brand new unit did not work. The buttons used to navigate the menus did not navigate diddly - no way to even play your music. 2nd - the menu is so small and unreadable, you need a magnifying glass to make out what you're looking at. Next - the backlght feature illuminates for about 2 seconds - without the backlight, you can't read it. 3rd - it took almost as long to load a song as it does to play the thing - loading about 8 albums took over 3 hours - and then, I couldn't get the piece of junk to navigate to a menu to play what loaded. 4th - it didn't read the ID3 tags correctly so even if it did work, I couldn't determine one artist from the other - even though I loaded each artist in their own folder, it listed all the songs by name, not by artist - it you want to listen to a specific artist, you'd have to scroll through all the tracks and listen to them one at a time - if it did work, but it didn't - so, it's a moot point.
Other Thoughts: Read the 'standard return policy' before you buy.
