4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad!

Pros: Compact, Sturdy, Powerful, Simple. Everything I wanted.

Cons: Foot pads are a bit thin and soft. That seems like the only cheap-ish feature about this. They get the job done, but we'll see if they last.

Other Thoughts: For the price, better than I hoped. A quick comparison to a much more expensive brand showed this model stands up well. Seemed only slightly less powerful, but unless you're looking to max out your volume, you won't hit that range anyway. Great sound. Great price.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's Simple, It Works, and It Sound Good

Pros: Receiving this item, I found that it was well packed. Opening up the box I found the USB speaker, charger, USB charger cord, instructions and a cord for direct connection to a device. Setup was incredibly simple. It paired easily with my iPhone and iPod touch. The sound quality for the size was impressive as well as the volumes it could reach. The bluetooth on the unit worked well, I was able to take the paired device up to 50 feet away without troubles and the speaker was loud enough that I could still hear it clearly. On a medium-high volume setting I was able to get almost 8 hours of constant play out of the unit before it had to be recharged. The speaker phone feature on the unit worked as well without issue. The sound quality is decent, save for not being able to hit low-lows ( like you get with dubstep ) but it still sounded amazing for the size of the unit. The speaker did produce enough bass that it would move around on a table at full volume. Vocals and classical music sounded amazing on this unit. Rock and metal sounded good as well. Electronic music sounded decent, though it would lose out a bit on the deep deep lows. The buttons and indicator light where easy to use and understand. Not to much else to say, it's simple, it works, and it sounds good.

Cons: When it was synced with my iPhone, it would drop connection for a short bit of time, like half a second, and come back, I did not see this problem with the iPod, so it might not be the speaker's fault. The speaker phone feature left a little bit to be desired sound wise. I would like to have seen alittle better bass response, but for it's size I cannot fault it that much. I could not get it to work with my laptop, it would pair, but the laptop could not understand what kind of device it was. I was hoping it could give my laptop better sound, though I could plug it in with the direct connect cord I guess.

Other Thoughts: The unit showed up as "GO" in the bluetooth device search instead of what was stated in the manual. The sound quality sounds better when it is sitting on a flat, sturdy surface. On things like carpet and chairs the sound will get muffled as there is a bass port in the bottom of the unit. The feet on the bottom of the unit seen to be a slight bit tacky (probably to keep it from moving about) and they will collect alittle dust. On the iPhone the bluetooth logo also functioned as a battery life indicator for the unit. I suspect other devices should be capable of this as well.

4 out of 5 eggsSurprising quality, except the feet...

Pros: When streamed from an HTC One smart phone via Bluetooth, this portable speaker produces a clear sound with minimal distortion.

Connectivity: Connecting this to my Android smart phone was a breeze. Having charged it up overnight, I powered the speaker on, and it immediately went into pairing mode. I went to my phone's Bluetooth settings, selected the "Go" device, and voilà - my music was now streaming through the speaker. I wish I had more to say here but it was just that simple.

Listening: I tested this under three real life scenarios. The first was in a hotel room while on a trip. No issues with interference from adjoining rooms, perfectly clear sound and far superior to my phone or even my (business) laptop speakers. The second was in that same hotel room, while in the shower, with the exhaust fan going. Again no issues - this speaker was loud enough for Comfortably Numb to be heard quite comfortably. The third was Christmas morning, at home. Again, no complaints - my jazzy christmas music played loud and clear.

As for battery life, so far it's lasted 3+ weeks of moderate listening without dying, so I'll count that as a huge positive.

Cons: Now for the (relatively minor) downsides:

Those little feet on the bottom that keep it in place leave a sticky/oily residue on finished surfaces. I ended up placing a napkin under it to avoid marking up my nightstand. I sincerely hope they can improve upon the material in a future revision to this product.

At the full MSRP, this is nowhere near a best buy. For the price, you could buy a entry-level audiophile headphones, a gorgeous set of 2.1 speakers, or half new subsidized smartphone. Knock it down by 30% and you'd have a perfect no-brainer gift idea.

5 out of 5 eggsGo! Go! Go!

Pros: It is absolutely impressive to hear the quality of music coming from such a tiny box. The highs might be a touch too high, but not enough to spoil the sound. The mid-range sounds great and the bass is impressive. I wouldn't expect such great sound coming from such a small speaker system, but it does. The overall music experience is a clear crisp sound with strong distinct bass. I can hear individual instruments if I listen for them. The sound quality at any volume is the same balance. Using Bluetooth, I can even crank it up to full volume (which is loud) without crackling or saturation.

One of the selling points is its bass. Since the vent for the bass is on the bottom, you should place it on a hard flat surface and you’ll hear strong bass from it. If you place it on something soft, say a car seat or bed, the bass will get a little flat. So place it on a table, a cooler, or the baby stroller’s shelf and you’re rocking. Baby too!

The build is very well done. There is metal mesh in the front for the speakers, sturdy shiny plastic for the buttons on the top and hard matte plastic for the rest of the body. The shiny plastic on top does collect fingerprints, but it wipes off easy enough. There are two nonslip feet that prevent it from vibrating around on a flat surface. In fact, they work so well that you can’t slide it on a smooth surface at all. I don’t plan on doing a drop test, but I think it would survive a few without serious damage.

The buttons have a nice tactile feel when pressed. It doesn't take a lot of pressure to get the click, but you won’t accidentally press one either.

I've played the Go at various volumes on one charge over the past two weeks which translates into about 12 hours of total usage. My iPhone shows the Go’s battery life next to the Bluetooth symbol and the speaker is coming close to needing a charge, but I could probably get another 2 hours out of it. If I cranked it up to full volume all of the time, I’m sure it wouldn't last that long.

On the back, it has a line in (cable provided) if you don’t have a Bluetooth device to stream music, a mini-USB port for charging, and the on/off switch. It comes with a USB cable and AC adapter, so you have the option to charge from a PC or the outlet. It also comes with a protective cloth bag that the speaker fits in perfectly.

The amazing sound, the build, the packaging, the cloth bag, and its features all say that they take pride in their product.

I received quick and eager support from Simple Audio. See cons for reason.

All in all, I’d be surprised to find an equivalent in quality of sound, size, and build as the Go.

Cons: The Go’s speaker phone has a hollow sound for the other person; like you’re speaking in a concert hall. They sound great through the Go, but you may need to explain that you’re not really calling from the bathroom. Awkward… One caller had to ask me to repeat myself a few times, but Ma doesn't have the best of hearing these days and I can be a mumbler. When compared to my iPhone, my iPhone’s speaker phone sounds better for the caller and the Go’s speaker phone sounds better for me. I’m not a speaker phone fan since, in my opinion, most do not sound that great anyway. I wouldn't use this feature often anyway, if at all.

I contacted Simple Audio’s support by email on the issue. They responded immediately offering to expedite a replacement. Considering this is an Eggxpert review, it is a little more complicated to obtain a replacement from the manufacturer since I don’t have an invoice. I want to note that I didn't state I was doing an Eggxpert review, so I believe you would receive the same quick and decisive support for any issues you might have.

It’s important that I share with you a concise list of facts about my experience with the speaker phone to help you decide if this will be an issue for you: I do not like speaker phones, so I may be overly critical; Simple Audio’s quick response and willingness to replace the speaker suggests my complaint may not be common (so either I’m a whiner or the hollowness is unusual); I use high-end speaker phones at work for conference calls, so I may be setting my expectations for the Go a little high.

The only other issue I have with the Go is the price. The sound is amazing and I’m very happy with the product, but I’m not an audiophile. If I were in the market for a small and very portable Bluetooth speaker, I probably would go with a cheaper one and deal with the weaker sound. I intend to gift this to my wife (don’t tell her that it’s not fresh out of the box) and I believe she will be impressed with this product even more so than I am considering how much she enjoys music.

The Go does not have a battery life indicator on it itself, but my iPhone showed a battery life indicator for it next to the Bluetooth symbol when connected.

Be careful using the line-in jack. Although I can max the volume using my iPhone’s Bluetooth, the line-in at a high volume pushed the speakers beyond their limits. Roughly around 7/10 of the volume is when I began to hear signs that the speakers can’t take much more. I should have just called it quits there, but for testing purposes I maxed the volume and it was bad; oh so bad. I’m hoping I didn't do any real damage. The music still sounds great, but the Bluetooth disconnect sound does sound a little crackly now, but I might be paranoid.

The provided cables are not very long, maybe 2 feet, but not a big deal for me.

With that said, based on my experience with the Go, I wouldn't think anyone was crazy if they felt it was worth $100.

Other Thoughts: I didn't crack an egg for the cons I listed since they’re more subjective than objective.

A PC does not recognize the Go when plugged in, so you won’t be able to stream music via USB.

The Bluetooth pairing was simple enough on my iPhone. I was able to walk about 30’ without solid obstructions like walls. Walls will interfere, but that is the nature of wireless and not the Go.

I was invited to review this product as an Eggxpert reviewer and it turned out to be a good experience. I have not been so kind in all of my past reviews, but I felt this product was worthy of the eggs. I appreciate reviews that are honest, straightforward, and fair and I do my best to return the courtesy.

5 out of 5 eggsThis little speaker amazed me

Pros: The sound that comes out of this thing is stunning for it's size. For it's size, it does well on low notes and it can get obnoxiously loud.

I really like the rubberized coating around the case and the non-slip feet on the bottom. You can place this on any clean surface and it will not budge.

The Micro USB connector is a plus, because I can keep the OEM charger at home, and use an old phone charger at work. I haven't had to use my charger at work though, because the battery life is amazing! It's rated for 8 hours, but I go through a full 8-hour day with the battery life only getting down to 50% playing at 25% volume. I've gone two 8-hour days without having to charge this.

The pairing is quite simple, and the tone feedback and status LED make it pleasant. Just turn it on, and depending on the tones it plays during power up you can tell if it's successfully paired or not. I've been using this every day for almost two weeks and it's successfully pared 1005 of the time with no issues.

Battery life is transmitted through the Bluetooth connection if your device supports it. I really like this, because I rarely look at the speaker, but I do look at my phone quite a lot. Just a quick glance and I can see how much power my phone has, and how much power this speaker has.

The line in (with included cable!) feature is nice, although I didn't have a real need for it.

Cons: The glossy finish on the top and buttons is a fingerprint magnet, i would have much rather seen the entire thing covered in the rubberized finish.

The battery isn't replaceable when/if it goes bad. Might not be an issue for some, but if you own the thing for 10 years, you might eventually need a new rechargeable battery depending on how much use it has.

Speakerphone is lacking, I can hear just fine but the person on the other end couldn't hear me well.

Other Thoughts: The surface the speaker is sitting on absolutely matters in relation to the bass it produces! The rubberized feet seem to "couple" the device to whatever surface it's placed on, and use this to enhance the bass (which is probably why the bass port is on the bottom on the unit). When on my metal desk from the 70's at work, this thing puts out amazing bass for it's size. If I place it on a thin steel filing cabinet, there's almost no bass. Placed this on my bathroom counter and it sounded great, put it on the couch and no so much. You get the idea here.

Obviously, the lower volume that this is played at, the longer the battery will last.

Quick tip for this device is to make sure the feet are always clean, if they're dirty it won't sound as good and will easily vibrate itself off where you put it. I've found the easiest way to clean them is with an Isopropyl Alcohol wipe.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent!!

Pros: Packaging: Very nice clean packaging
Performance: Punchy bass, good vocals/treble, mids are a bit flat. Sounds very good. NOT muffled. As advertised 8hrs of battery life. Bluetooth easily connects. Capable of being very loud. Range works well if you're on the same floor as the device.

Cons: Cons: Pairing a different device via bluetooth after disconnecting bluetooth may give “pairing issues”
-slight static sound when nothing is playing
-auto standby sometimes requires you to physically turn off—>on to gain connection.
-price is expensive.

Other Thoughts: Included accessories: Pouch, aux cable, mini USB charger, Charger, instructions.

This is a good product. The price is expensive at $99 compared to other portable bluetooth speakers at this size.

4 out of 5 eggssmall speakers

Pros: Small compact system.
USB + Wall plug, in-line cable, storage bag.
rubber feet and some weight to keep it in place.
easy to connect to (Had my 9 year old do it w/ Ipad mini)
Range is good.
Sounds great, kids like it as well for christmas music.
No skipping like the X-jays I own.
Speaker phone ability

Cons: started out at full volume with 1st device connected to.
USB power cable is small (limited all or near computer)
Power indacator only on device (apple show charge on bluetooth devices)
No indaction its on if not device connected to it.

Other Thoughts: Kid left it on overnight, would be nice to see standby mode if not connected for 15mins. Battery level only n Apple devices.
Brush finish would be better than glossy.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: The sound quality of this little speaker surprised me. I have Bose Soundlink Mini Bluetooth speaker that cost twice as much as this speaker and I could not tell the difference between the two.

I really appreciate that this speaker uses the standard Micro-USB connector so I can use the same chargers that my phone uses. So I can use the car charger I already have and the wall charger I already have plugged in. The Bose speaker uses a different connector, so I can't charge it in my car, and I have to plug in a different charger. (You're going to see me compare this speaker to the Bose a lot becuase the Bose is the direct competitor, sorry.)

I really like the rubberized coating on this unit. It makes the speaker really easy to hold on to, and doesn't collect finger prints. Also, the rubber feet on the bottom of the speaker are very grippy. I was able to put the speaker on the dashboard of my car and drive around with out it moving.

The 3.5mm input worked flawlessly and sounds just as good as the bluetooth connection. Plus this speaker comes with the 3.5mm cable needed to use this port. This was nice because my Zune(yeah, I still have a Zune) doesn't have bluetooth, so I had to use the 3.5mm jack to listen to my music from my Zune. Again, comparing to the Bose, the Bose speaker did not come with the cable needed to use the 3.5mm jack. Also, the Bose speaker's audio quality was noticeably worse when using the 3.5mm jack. There was a noticeable hiss when using the 3.5mm jack, and occasional pops in the audio. I don't know if this is a common problem with the Bose or if I just got a defective unit, but the Simple Audio Speaker worked perfectly with the 3.5mm jack.

The carrying back included for the speaker worked very well, and was nice to have. Again, the Bose came with no carrying bag at all.

The built in microphone is a nice touch as well, so when I get a call on my cellphone I can use this speaker as a speaker phone.

Cons: There are really only three minor problems that I have with this speaker.

The biggest of the three issues is that there is no way to tell how much charge is left in the battery. The unit will alert you when the battery is low, but that is it. Luckily this drawback is largely negated by the fact that the speaker uses the same charger as basically all android smartphones. So when the battery starts to get low I always have a charger handy, even if I have to pug it in and let it charge in my car for an hour.

A minor issue that I have is that I wish there was a 3.5mm jack for the built in microphone as well. It would be nice to be able to connect this speaker to my computer for skype.

Another minor issue I have with this speaker is the glossy finish on the button area, and that goes in a narrow accent strip around the speaker. While it looks nice, it is a fingerprint magnet! The accent strip isn't too bad because I'm rarely touching that, but the buttons annoy me a lot. Luckily I found that the included carrying case doubles as a very good cloth for wiping off the fingerprints! Win for Simple Audio.

Other Thoughts: Compared to the Bose Soundlink Mini this speaker is an amazing deal. The sound quality seems the same to me and the Simple Audio Speaker offers more and better features for half the price. I'm really actually disappointed I paid so much for the Bose at this point.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Portable Bluetooth Speaker w/ Some Caveats

Pros: - Small: It's about the size of a couple of iPhones stacked on top of each other.

- Sound Quality: The sound quality is great for such a small speaker. It's pretty detailed and isn't lacking any mids or lows. Highs are very clear.

- Rechargeable: You never have to go out and buy batteries for it since it has rechargeable batteries built in. It even charges with a standard micro-USB cable.

- 3.5mm Audio Input: You can pair it with A2DP compatible bluetooth devices OR plug it right into the headphone jack on any devices that has a headphone jack.

- Speakerphone functionality; You can take calls while paired with this and use it as a loudspeaker. It has a microphone built in as well so you can talk into it.

Cons: Only a few cons for it:
- Part of the body is made of glossy black plastic which is a fingerprint / skin oil magnet

- It does not have a battery-life indicator so you never know when it's about to shut off.

- The microphone isn't all that great. You have to speak directly at it, at a close distance for people to be able to understand what you're saying.

Other Thoughts: Overall, it's a nice device. Convenient, sounds decent for its size. I would not pay $99.99 for it though. If they fix the microphone, get rid of the glossy plastic and add a battery-life indicator, then I could recommend it at its current price.
