Polk Audio Tabletop Digital Audio System with iPod/iPhone Dock - I-Sonic

Pros: I like that it's not a tiny little radio, as they only have so much sound to deliver. It's not massive, but I was looking for something to play my music collection on for home use and get togethers. 4 speakers do produce a 360 sound, so keep it in the open, not in a corner. I paid $99 for it and that is a solid price for what you get. The Remote is a nice feature to have. The controls are very easy to use. The i4 docking connection is solid and fits perfect. I have another dock and it's horrible to try to line up the pins, and it wobbles. This one is really solid.

Cons: It works for "all itouches, ipods, and iphones, right? No. Not so fast. I will not work with i5 without an adaptor, or you can use the aux cable, but then it won't work as a charger. The Radio isn't great, so unless you have a better antennae or live in the city, don't expect much. Still need to fool around with this to see if there's anything to do to make it better.

Other Thoughts: As the title suggests, this is a 4 door sedan. It's not the loudest, the best audio, the smallest, sexiest stereo/docking station/alarm clock on the planet, but it does as advertised and the price of $99 is what you are going to pay to get something comparable. My guess would be they are phasing this model out to launch the one that is i5 ready. But it will be $250 and I can't justify $150 more for that little convenience.

Pros: - Nice appearance.
- AM radio. See below.
- Remote features duplicate almost all features on the radio.
- Decent sound
- Easy setup. Didn't need to read instructions.

Cons: - Weak AM reception.
- Horrible snooze button placement.
- Display brightness only applies when music is playing.
- Off-axis viewing is restricted past 60 degrees off center.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a 20 year old Zenith clock radio I got on sale for $20. There are comments that this unit is too big to use as a clock radio. I disagree with this comment. So much of the tech market is focused on miniaturization, that encountering a product the size of a foot ball produces a knee jerk "its too big" response.

Polk lists this at 300 bucks on their site. There's no way I'd pay that for this unit. This is NOT audiophile level sound. There's a bass port on the bottom, and what appears to be (4) 2.75" inch speakers. My unit is about 1 foot from the wall and I wouldn't recommend putting it in a corner as the bass would be overwhelming. Its not boomy, but it is bass heavy. I set the bass to 2 clicks below center. MId-range is decent, and highs are adequate. Overall the sound has a restrained quality; like it's muted. A more open quality would improve the sound. Probably need to change the crossover points.

My 2 gripes are 1) The location of the snooze button and the power button make it easy to turn off the alarm instead of engaging the snooze feature, and 2) The display brightness is effective only when music is playing. When you turn the unit off It dims to a preset level. A level that makes it difficult to see during day time.

If 1/2 egg was possible I would give it 1/2 more.

Pros: Sounds good, not as good as the Bose Wave, but better than your average clock radio.

Cons: Polk is known for speakers and it should have stuck with speakers. I have purchase a DVD 360 system and this clock radio; both failed; support for each was horrible.

I bought the radio directly from Polk as a factory refurbished unit. The construction looks cheap. The material covering the speakers is difficult to keep clean and is easily snagged.

Shortly after the brief refurb warranty, the unit died. After reading some forums, I tore it apart and resoldered a couple of the connections. It worked for another year, then (recently) died a second time.

Additionally, there were a couple of times (over the two years) that I would wake up late and see the display dead. After unplugging and plugging the unit back in, the display would come back.

Other Thoughts: At $99 (super-saver price), it might be worth the price. It is better sounding than your average clock radio--if you have a reliable backup alarm. At any higher price, I'd go shopping for a used Bose Wave.

Pros: Don't know since the power supply is not in the box. If the supplier or Newegg could send the cord I could tell. It appears to be a good unit if I could get power to it.

Cons: Power supply cord and transformer are not in the box. If the supplier could send the cord. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHERE TO GET A POWER CORD SINCE I DO NOT WANT TO RETURN IT AT THIS TIME. And do not want to pay the return postage.

Other Thoughts: Quality control should have seen that the power supply was missing.

Pros: Excellent sound, radio reception, easy to set up, easy to use.

Cons: I didn't buy 2 ;)

Other Thoughts: Got this on sale for $99. After tax and shipping the total was $117 and it's probably the best $117 I ever spent on audio. This thing rocks! The bass response is incredible and I find myself backing off on the bass and boosting the highs... unheard of in a tabletop radio! I don't even own an Ipod or Iphone but the aux in allows me to plug in my GS3 or Nook Color to stream or play from my library. The radio reception along with the enhanced content display is super.
Newegg has made my household a Polk household by offering outstanding discounts on quality Polk audio components!

Cons: have to buy an adapter to work with iphone 5

Other Thoughts: overall sounds good, and for a hundred bucks not a bad deal....even with having to buy a converter.

Documentation on the site was elusive on this fact.

Pros: Full range sound and plenty of bass. Excellent reception and the display is bright and clear. I'm using this unit to play music at my office. The building is about 1000 square feet and I can hear it anywhere in the building at only 50%. Did I mention this thing really jams? My ipod touch fit with no issues and when your not using the ipod the unit has a door to cover the connector so dust doesn't get in. If I had a use for a second one of these I would definitely buy.

Cons: It's too big to put on your night stand and use as an alarm clock, in my opinion. It's pretty deep too but that's why the sound is sooooo good.
