4 out of 5 eggsVery, very good sound

Pros: The biggest pro is, this thing sounds great. It will easily fill up a room with very presentable sound. Sound through the dock is good, radio reception is not bad, and at least on mine, the AUX is not noisy at all. I run my TV through it and use it as a soundbar (seriously, why must ALL flat screen speakers be HORRIBLE?!), a purpose for which it does very well.

Cons: Antiquated 30 pin connector and lack of bluetooth. I still have a 30 pin iPod I can use it with, but it won't work on my iPhone.

Other Thoughts: Depending on what you will be using it for, this thing is well worth picking up. The sound is awesome for such a small unit.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound

Pros: Very good sound for the size, the sound can be nicely adjusted to your listening preferences. Reliable.

Cons: Rebate is a joke, never received it - I will NEVER EVER buy any product in my life that has a rebate attached to it, too many of these sale promos do not work.
Three thing that can use improvements on the product:
1/The display is way too bright at night after you set your alarm.
2/The end buttons should be slightly larger.
3/ Loudness feature needs to be improved, so base/treble is correct when you change the volume.

Other Thoughts: I would buy it again, as this is the first newer alarm clock that did not break shortly after the warranty expires. [ Other then a super old one that lasted me over 20+ years]

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT DEAL

Pros: This unit is great, it actually make excellent low end bass. I got this for my wife for an alarm clock on her side of the bed and it is an excellent alarm clock. Before I purchased this unit we had a Sony alarm clock, it was the best one I could find at the time I got it. I was hopeful that it would sound good. My wife apparently looses her hearing as she sleeps because she cranks the volume up pretty loud which snaps me awake straight away, while she keeps sleeping... somehow. I thought the Sony sounded pretty great, until I head this bad boy. This Polk unit goes off and the bass is firm and clear as are the rest of the sounds. The antenna that are supplied with the unit seem to be pretty good as the signal comes in perfectly were on the previous Sony it was garbage. Thank you Polk for making my weekdays start off with smooth sounding music instead of the tin cup sound the last alarm clock made. One of the best buys so far.

Cons: IPhone 5 compatible

Other Thoughts: Maybe include an adapter for the iPhone 5.

5 out of 5 eggsCompare to Bose

Pros: Great Bass with a room filling sound, as good as Bose.
Feature packed, but not cluttered Remote.
Price/Value was outstanding.
Lots of station presets.

Cons: Cannot select preset stations directly.
Doesn't come with Apple Lightning Adapter, uses old 30 Pin iPod Connector.
No CD Player.

Other Thoughts: My friend has the Bose comparable and she paid way too much. We both compared them and, if you take the price out, it's a wash. Bose does have a CD player, but I rarely would use it.

4 out of 5 eggsObsolete but excellent clock AM/FM radio & audio

Pros: Outstanding audio performance for a clock table radio. The audio quality is superior to most (with Newegg's rebate, probably ALL) comparably priced and sized (14"x9"x4") PC loudspeaker systems. And a wired AUX input provides means to easily hookup an additional signal source, such as from a PC sound card.

Energy efficiency is also excellent: drawing less than one watt when "off"; one watt when "on" and set to the AUX input but absent a signal dropping into an "auto-standby" mode from which recovery is both smooth and quick; four watts with an audio signal, and five watts at high volume.

Cons: The unit has an essentially obsolete Apple iPod/IPhone 30-pin connector/input; lacks a USB or SD card media reading port/capability, nor is the AM/FM tuner capable of modern broadcast HD-radio reception.

Also, when driven from a PC cabled to the AUX input, each of 3 samples I've tested with several PCs exhibit a high-pitched (audible and irritating, though low level) whine-- sounding like a heterodyne. From the Polk's high energy efficiency, one can assume that the audio amp employs a Tripath switching-mode audio chip; and that may be a factor in the problem. Happily, the whine can be eliminated, without other significant loss, by use of a decent quality audio transformer, such as found in some "ground-loop isolators" sold by Newegg (advertised for car radio use) that serves as an input bandpass filter.

Other Thoughts: Hoping to add utility/value, I also experimented with a 3rd-party Newegg listed gadget that plugs into the 30-pin iPod dock, to provide Bluetooth reception-- but found the model I tried unreliable, with frequent signal dropouts and low quality audio when it did work. Nevertheless, lacking an iPod, there may be other accessories suited to the 30-pin port worth consideration.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome sound

Pros: Percfect system for small rooms , great sound and lots of possibilities for many sources.

Cons: I had to remove the ipod cradle , the i-sonic would not charge or recognize the ipod with it.

Other Thoughts: With that price you can't go wrong! Great deal!

5 out of 5 eggsPolk Audio Tabletop Digital Audio System

Pros: Excellent sound quality.

Price can't be beat.

Unit appears well made.

Cons: No included Bluetooth.

Proprietary iPhone is all that is supported.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm quite pleased with this radio. I don't understand why some nit pick the unit so much. The design is not leading edge but it can be fixed quite easily. First, when it comes to sound quality this radio rocks. I have a Bose Wave Radio in another room and depending on what your listening to you would be hard pressed to tell the difference. Keep in mind that the Bose cost $500 or ten times what I paid for this Polk. Some complain of the lack of CD player but really CDs are almost obsolete. I made a few upgrades that made this radio perfect for me. While it has a good radio tuner I prefer to stream my own collection. I added a $20 Bluetooth audio adapter and instead of using the built in iPhone adapter I mounted my Qi wireless charger to the top. My Galaxy S4 now rests on top of the Polk. I can now stream from my 15GB personal library, stream Google Play Music, Pandora, or any of thousands of radio stations online. I don't even use the included remote as everything can be controlled from the phone and when I'm done it's easy just to place it on the wireless charger.. no plugs to fumble with, no adapters, no disks, no headaches. This is the way the radio should have been built but unfortunately no one has done it yet, not even Bose. Keep in mind that I can also stream from any of my other Bluetooth devices such as my computer, tablet, or even TV. If you're sitting on the fence buy this before they sell out. You won't find a better radio for $50 anywhere and with a few simple modifications you won't find a better radio at any price.

2 out of 5 eggsAUX WHINES

Pros: Radio and MP3 player sounds good. Has clock and alarm. Has a headphone jack.

Cons: AUX input whines when plugged into a grounded source. Like a PC or DVD player. Whining stops if they and everything they are attached to is unplugged. It does not whine for my mobile MP3 player.
WAAAA! I wanted to replace my broken PC audio system.

Other Thoughts: I'm have nothing to try out the IPOD dock.
For $50 bucks it's a keeper. My old alarm clock is getting finicky to program.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk

Pros: None so far

Cons: Large size, sound quality average at best, poorly designed and made

Other Thoughts: Have three other table top radios by different manufactures and this is by far the worst. Even with rebate (and now I know why) this unit is not a good value. Lid on top for ipod so misaligned it doesn't close. Function buttons on top don't work well either.

4 out of 5 eggspolk

Pros: Big clock reading
Overall small size

Cons: Wasn't too impressed with sound quality
Could be a little louder
Reaction to button presses very slow
No USB connection

Other Thoughts: Was expecting better sound quality and loudness from Polk, but for $50 (after rebate) it's worth 4 eggs.
