5 out of 5 eggsWonderful

Pros: See Ungoy's review below. It's nicely summed up there. Otherwise, robust, great sound, attractive design, small footprint, holds a charge well, works with every iPod (nano, regular, touch) we have.

Also has a line-in for a 3.5mm plug in order to use (but not charge) any other kind of MP3 player. Used it the other day so the kids could watch a movie on the iPad. I still don't know why people like watching movies on iPads, but that's a whole other rant.

Cons: Charging plug tends to work loose from the socket (in the unit) if the unit is handled a lot. But it's easy enough to plug back in.

Though the compactness of the design is a plus, I'd have preferred a longer iPod dock (so case removal isn't required), and one that sits lower on the face of the unit so that the iPod isn't sticking up quite so high. The docking unit actually holds iPods well, but does have a hinging aspect; the iPod can flop forward. It's still connected (and won't necessarily fall out), but I've caught my breath once or twice.

Definitely needs a 12v option included. A USB socket would have been sweet (since all of life's portable gadgets seem to have USB charging capacity these days).

Other Thoughts: We've had this for well over a year. We bought it for the kids and then quickly "borrowed" it for ourselves. It tends to live in the kitchen, but I've used it while painting a house, gardening, working in the garage, etc.

2 out of 5 eggsCaseless

Pros: Good sound with moderate bass. This speaker was a gift from my wife. I had been looking for a couple weeks and had not found exactly what I was looking for. I will probably keep looking for a unit that holds the phone securely and has more boom.

Cons: I have to remove my protective case to get a connection on the dock. Once connected the phone feels loose. I would not trust it anywhere. I would not walk around with the phone in place. Especially with out a case! Did I mention that I don't like having to take my case off?

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Sound; couple of things peaves

Pros: Portable, good battery life, recharges quickly, great sound

Cons: Since it is so portable (car, boat, RV, etc) it needs a 12v charging option; my remote always had a little trouble and has now quit working. Docking interface is too short - I have to remove the cover of my iPhone to dock it to the speaker.

Other Thoughts: Overall, very pleased with the sound and mostly pleased with the interface and durability.

5 out of 5 eggsLogitech S715i iPod Speakers

Pros: -Great sound. Easily outperforms anything in its class, also those costing a lot more. Ample low end; its 4 radiators do their job. Separate high driver keeps sound clear. Boombox sound in the size of a desk radio. Will quickly achieve "turn that down" volume.
-Revised docking bay vs Logitech's old style is a million times better.
-Portability. Could easily be something to throw in the suitcase (pretty flat). Like a long clock radio and weighs about as much.
-Good build quality. It's possible to drop it fairly hard, just make sure the dock doesn't get damaged.
-Aesthetic. This thing just looks good.

Cons: These are relatively minor...
-Internal battery. If/when it dies out you'll have to crack it open. Prefer to use my own rechargeable batteries.
-Battery sound. Unplugging drops the low end out which is somewhat the purpose for this speaker dock. Would prefer some sort of "Loud" on/off function instead.
-Inputs aren't simultaneous. Unlike other Logitech docks you can't have sound coming from both dock and auxiliary input. Meaning you can't play a beat on an iPod and also plug in a mic or turntable/mixer. The dock gets preference.
-"Foot" could use some sort of lock. If it becomes loose there's nothing to keep the speaker standing up.
-Case is irrelevant. Cheap thin fiber. This would have deserved one of Logitech's neoprene cases. Remote can easily slip out.
-If paying full price you'd want at least a clock and/or radio...

Other Thoughts: I own almost all of Logitech's iPod docks and besides the non-portable AudioStation/Pure-Fi Elite these easily sound the best. I carry speakers from site to site and this was a no-brain purchase. They're not powered studio monitors but for small portables they're excellent. Side-by-side tests at box stores made it an easy purchase. I wouldn't pay more than I did (discount) to bump mp3's...

Powered (vs battery) sound unexpectedly filled a small empty middle school gym. Even occupied the sound wasn't drowned out. Its physical size versus sound volume is amazing. Battery sound is still good but doesn't pump out SPL's as being plugged in.

Would prefer it to be a bit more trapezoidal instead of rounded to get a bit clearer sound. At high volumes sound can get muddy depending on genre... then you remember how big it is and don't care. I *really* wish these were daisy-chainable. There's a bluetooth version marketed for the iPad (dockless) which may be.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speaker

Pros: Great sound and deep bass. This unit fills up a room. Auxiliary connection allows use with a laptop to watch movies. Includes a carrying case with a power supply slot.

Cons: iPod Nano requires headphones to use as an FM antennae and they don't fit when docked. Included carrying case is flimsy.

Other Thoughts: I am amazed out how full this unit sounds for its size. It feels solid and is very portable. I was having a problem with my iPod skipping when the unit was plugged in (full bass) and cranked up. I finally realized the Shake to Shuffle iPod feature was enabled. I disabled it and all is well.

I have a previous Logitech dock that is similar but doesn't sound as good. It still works after 4 or 5 years even if the battery life is shorter. I definitely recommend this product and Logitech in general.

5 out of 5 eggsBoom Box for the Modern Age

Pros: Wonderful rich sound when plugged in, great sound when on battery. The battery life averages about 4 hours which is increased as lower volumes. Good distance on the remote. Best sounding battery powered speaker on the market. I consider myself an audiophile and I can assure you this product won't disappoint.

Cons: Recharge time is high (around 7 hours) Remote's are not universal. DO NOT loose or break the remote. I had to exchange the entire unit when my remote stopped working.

Other Thoughts: Better carry case would be nice.

5 out of 5 eggsSurprising

Pros: Compact; good looking; good mid-range and vocals; great highs; good lows for the size; good volume.

Cons: Can't think of one.

Other Thoughts: very handy and portable; lets you take music anywhere and charges your ipod/iphone.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Speaker

Pros: I don't actually own one, but one of my good friends owns one and it sounds amazing! For being a portable unit, it produces awesome sound and has a good length of playback time before needing to be charged. Great for taking to the beach and other places where you want to hear some tunes but can't plug into a wall. It's no home theater system so don't expect it to sound like a night club, but it serves it's purpose well for the price and size.

Cons: I don't have any

Other Thoughts: As for the one guy complaining about having to disassemble it so he can use it as a speaker for his desktop computer, if course it's going to be a pain in the but if you aren't going to use it for it's intended purpose. Get a set of actual computer speakers.

5 out of 5 eggsLogitch speaker Dock

Pros: Good sound. Bought at discount. At the price nothing came close. Charges Ipod as it plays if plugged into AC. Remote is a nice feature. I had a legacy logictech MP3 speaker product and is still going strong. This has superior sound to earlier product.

Cons: Volume decreases when unplugged from AC adapter, so crank it up if you are going without the housewire. Remote sometimes not picked up by base unit. Aim carefully. Needs a place on unit to store the remote. I ended up using some Velcro so I won't lose the remote!!

Other Thoughts: I would buy it again. Infact, I did for a friend. Great gift for someone not using speakers with their player. Needs to include a 3.5 mm male to male if you are going to use the AUX port and not dock an IPod.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Sounds amazing. Great bass, great highs, okay mids. Plenty loud enough. Charges phones quickly even when playing music. Easy to use. Simple. Aesthetically pleasing. It even works when it's not plugged into the wall. It shuts down the sub speakers (the ones in the back) to conserve power. Smart, awesome, unexpected. Solid. This thing is built well.

A GREAT DEAL, especially for the price.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It's fantastic. Listened to it against many others in person at an Apple store and it won against many priced much higher. Of course the $250-400 competitors sound better - but for the price/performance it can't be beat. Don't worry, this is a ...sound... (heh) purchase.
