Reasonable speaker for old fashioned iPod
- Pros: Competitive price
Support old iPod portable
- Cons: No charging function
Poor sound quality
- Other Thoughts: I purchased this speaker as a filler to quality logitech rebate. So this thing comes almost free for me, that's why it got 3 stars.
The only interface of this speaker with iPod is the 3.5mm audio connector. There is NO flat connector with ipod. iPod is installed on this stuff by "physical clamp". They claim you could use this to charge ipod by connecting your own charging cable and power adapter from the bottom of the speaker, where there locates a flat hole (this is fraud if you sue newegg for the description).
This thing works well with my iPod photo, however, it does not work for any generation of ipod touch (again this is another chance to sue newegg) because there is not hole to connect the 3.5mm connector from the bottom. It works for iphone since the connecting hole of iphone is on the top.
Great deal
- Pros: Uses AA batteries or AC power. Great portability. Standard headphone jack connection. Durable and small enough for extensive traveling. Decent enough sound quality.
- Cons: Can be a little crackly when batteries get low on power.
- Other Thoughts: Great for moving from room to room with an IPOD/MP3 player. I have 2 sets for the house, one for my travel kit, and one for my office...yeah, I like them. Sometimes I plug up my phone and listen to MP3's, sometimes it is the IPOD, and other times I use my MP3 player..........very compact. Heck, I just really like them...especially for about $20...my first set was $55 from a major electronics store.
This is speakers only- not a dock
- Pros: The price is right. This unit would be great for someone who travels and wants to take along some music for a hotel room. The sound is reasonably good (no Bass), with a good build quality and nice compact size.
- Cons: This unit does not have a dock connector and instead has an opening to use your own charger which will take two power outlets (one for this unit, one for your charger). It relies on a mini 3.5mm Audio plug that plugs into your iphone/Ipod. This creates phone noises if you use an iPhone.
- Other Thoughts: I use this with the iPhone 3G and it is always making the GSM phone noises on the speakers, because of the 3.5mm audio plug. I have to lay the iphone next to the speakers to avoid the noise- not ideal. For the price, it is a good value, but much more than $20 and it would be 1 egg.
