Not the best purchase I've ever made.
- Pros: It looks great and there's a remote with a snooze button on it (may be a con for some people). The unit itself looks very sleek, which looks good in the bedroom. The buttons all light up and the sound quality is pretty good.
- Cons: This charges iPods, but don't expect to use it to charge something over night while you sleep. With my iHome, the iPod would start playing then go into standby mode while it started playing. This one turns the iPod into a blinding beacon of @!#$'ing Sauron that never shuts off.
Trying to use the included remote is an effort of futility. If you hit the wrong button (there's a rubber cover over the buttons so this is easy to do when you're half asleep and there's no directionality to the square remote), it jumps back into your list of music and there's no way to get back to the song you were originally listening to without getting up and physically doing it. The remote is really only good for volume and remote snoozing.
- Other Thoughts: I went from an iHome to this and I prefer the iHome. It has a much more logical interface and doesn't burn your retinas when you get up to pee in the middle of the night.
The manual comes with a cardboard "tuner card" for turning the poorly made equalizer to the "appropriate settings for your music". Any monkey with a wrench can turn the two little dials until something sounds good.
Making the remote square was simply a poor design choice. They didn't think to actually try USING this thing in a normal setting, or maybe this slipped through the cracks. Who knows. Either way, there needs to be some way to control the iPod, not just the stereo, by feel. If the remote lets me dive backwards into the iPod menus, then it should just as easily let me at LEAST go forward through them. Provide an "enter" button or something like in the middle of the iPod.
Giving it 5 as an Alarm Clock
- Pros: I purchased this primarily as a replacement to an antiquated alarm clock and for the price of $44.95 w/ free shipping i couldn't be happier. My iTouch worked first try with no problems. Good reception on the FM radio (if this thing had HD FM I'd have given it 7 eggs) The sound isn't too bad for small 10W speakers. I use it in a medium size bedroom and on higher volume it fills the room, wakes me up for sure. It looks pretty cool also!
- Cons: There are multiple docking rings that came in the packaging so i have to find a place for them or throw them out. You have to select the one the fits your iDevice so it can mate properly with the player. Really this is NO big deal.
Also the speakers are fixed to the unit so you can't move them independently to adjust them, again not that big of a deal but something you may want to consider before you pull the tiger.
- Other Thoughts: If I'd paid the suggested price of $129.99 this would be a completely different review but at the $44.98 price and for using this as an alarm clock/docking station I'm thrilled. This unit is ideal for a garage, dorm, office or just a bedroom where it will be used just to get more mileage out of the iPod.
If you are looking for out of this world sound then spend more money but you will get what you pay for with this unit.

BOYNQ - Wake Up - iPod Speaker & Alarm Clock (BLACK)
- Pros: -Got at a great price! $30! Thanks Newegg!
-Looks cool -Good functionality -Not too bright -Sound quality is good
- Cons: very minor ones
-Hard to see from an angle -The light on the Ipod can be annoying, as it won't turn off when it is on
- Other Thoughts: No way worth the original price. If you can get it for under 50 than do so!
gr8 deal
- Pros: easy to use, virtually no setup, good sound quality
- Cons: It's not designed with IPhone in mind, meaning when you streaming something like Pandora or XM you get the nasty feedback on occasion. It's not a major issue and when you do get it it's not for long.
- Other Thoughts: Its a happy medium between the el cheapo walmart docks and the higher end stuff. Got this one on sale for 30$ so it was hella cheaper than anything else out there, but it functions better than the iHome i bought a few weeks ago for 80$. Its hard to find a system under 150$ that will function without the feedback with the iphone. Great value for the money, im stoked i found such an awesome deal... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK NEWEGG!!! P.S.~ got it in like 2 days, wow, awesome shipping times!!!
- Pros: Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!
- Cons: Perfect!!!!!!!!!!!
