4 out of 5 eggskinda cool

Pros: Takes my iPhone 4s from near dead to over 50% charged. Doesn't seem to charge most devices completely, but will charge them enough to make a big difference.
Can (might, depending on the device) add hours to the run time of your device.
Convenient USB port for plugging in almost anything that needs to be charged. Of course, you'll also need to utilize the USB charging cable that came with whatever device you're attempting to charge.

Cons: Being just 1500 mAh, it can't fully charge an iPhone.

Other Thoughts: -I have never attempting to use (or even to test) the solar charging capabilities.
-I paid only 13 bucks including free shipping (brand new), at a site other than newegg. Whereas newegg has it priced at 45 bucks right now! Pay less than 20, or don't buy it.
-I gave it 4 strong eggs based in part on the price I paid, at just 13 bucks shipped.
-It's either in (green led) export-charge mode, or (red led) self-recharge mode, or (no led) inactive. It cannot do two functions at once.
-Makes my extended nature/biking outings less risky phone battery-wise. Instead of coming home on empty, I come home with a comfortable cushion left in the tank.
-Keep it topped off, and bring it with you when you go out.

1 out of 5 eggsMicro USB cable?

Pros: Good concept

Cons: Returned this because the Micro USB cable wasn't working, the Micro USB cable on the replacement was bad as well.

Other Thoughts: The battery holds very little charge, only adds 20% to my Razr MAX phone before it was depleted.

Apparently the Micro USB is some kind of semi non-standard cable

2 out of 5 eggsWARNING!

Pros: -Works as advertised

Cons: -Ruptures if left in the sunlight

Other Thoughts: I had this item a few years back. Bought it from a retail store that shall remain un-named. It worked as a replacement to my broken cigarette lighter in my car (to charge the GPS unit).

I left it stuck to my windshield, it eventually ruptured from the heat of the sun. I'm lucky it didn't start a fire, I could have lost my car.

On the one hand, I kinda understand why you shouldn't leave this out and unattended in the sunlight.

On the other hand, it's a >>SOLAR<< battery, and it explodes in the sunlight. This is a critical and potentially deadly/costly defect. If you purchase this item, be sure to NEVER leave it in the sunlight for extended periods of time. This item is too dangerous for me to repurchase, but it did work as advertised.

You have been warned, I was lucky that it caused no damage.

4 out of 5 eggsBackup Battery

Pros: Solar charging capabilty, light and compact, easy use!

Cons: It is only 1500 mAh and included USB cable is very short. May not fully charge your device.

Other Thoughts: 1500 mAh may or may not be a con for you as this is the size of most standard batteries. I have a Motorola Triumph smart phone and this battery is not able to give a full charge to my phone (~70%), but this is not a con for me as I am using it as backup on the road. This battery is affixed to the windshield of my car at all times, because you don't need it if your at home close to a wall outlet!

5 out of 5 eggsBest Backup EVER

Pros: Good sized battery, charges devices fast. Solar actually works.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I usually charge it when I get home if I use it, but when I go out its on my windshield. Its the best charger I have used for anything.

4 out of 5 eggsAhead of its time

Pros: restores a full charge to any dying or dead mobile device. Not sure if it will carge a laptop battery or netbook. Maybe.

Cons: Selective on which wire you use to charge it, if you mix and match the cables for your phone and AC outlet charger, you will fry this thing. Only use the provided cable to charge it from your computers USB ONLY. Do not use your phone data cable to charge this with a AC outlet.

Other Thoughts: The USB output is universal, but the input is the only one that needs caution when being used. Only use the provided cable to charge it if you don't want any problems.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Features low mA problems

Pros: !!!STANDARD USB OUTPUT - no stupid a la carte "tips" (use your device's usb cable)
!!!STANDARD Micro USB input - no proprietary charging cables
If you're device uses Micro USB, you can use the same cable for power in and power out
Power in & power out indicators
Suction cups for window mount-facing IN or OUT
No skid feet
Holster - suction cups & feet are attached to holster
Keychain or lanyard friendly
Clean & compact - its rectangular and FLAT, stays where you put it
Easy to read battery indicator
Not ultra sensitive about light levels needed to charge
Great price

Cons: 5v, 500mA
Check your device requirements!!

Other Thoughts: I love the features, but both BB Bold 9700 & 9780 require more than 500mA output (5v,700mA). I really wish I could use this little thing. I bought a different brand with 5v, 800mA output, but it doesn't have most of these benefits.
