1 out of 5 eggsTerrible Sound Quality

Pros: It works
Its heft keeps it in place
Simple to connect and use
Low power consumption
Name brand
Works flawlessly with every Bluetooth device I've thrown at it so far
Range is good for Bluetooth. Worked in another room through a wall no problem.

Cons: Very poor sound quality
No NFC pairing
Uses 5VDC , but connects with a micro barrel jack instead of the more abundant microUSB

Other Thoughts: I know that Bluetooth stereo audio is not known for its Hi-Fi, but this shortcoming could not be more obvious with a receiver like this hooked up through any decent stereo system. I would have returned the device if the shipping and restocking fee weren't prohibitive, because it is essentially useless. Like other reviewers have mentioned, there is an obvious echo that I haven't heard with other Bluetooth stereo products.

Apparently some Bluetooth products can use the aptX codec for much improved quality, but it appears this product does not.

Since I shouldn't return it, and it sounds too much like poop to use for actual music listening, I rarely use it. Instead, it only occasionally gets used by my guests to avoid using their phone's speaker to share a YouTube, video, etc.

I would give it 2 stars if it had USB power instead of DC jack and NFC touch instant pairing, but the terrible audio quality and therefore lack of usefulness is already minus 3 stars.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for leaving us a product review. Your feedback is of great value to us. The quality of a Bluetooth connection varies depending on the product placement and the environment the device is setup in. Make sure that the Bluetooth device is away from sources of interference such as microwave ovens, Direct Satellite Service (DSS), power lines, power stations, video senders (transmitters/receivers), wireless speakers, baby monitors, and any other wireless devices that operate in the 2.4 GHz.

5 out of 5 eggsNo complaints

Pros: I've owned this since Jan 2011, almost 3 years now. I have it outside in a gazebo hooked up to an amp and speakers. I've used 2 different iPods, 2 different phones, and an iPad at different times over the years. It has never failed me, syncing is quick, clarity is great, zero complaints. Again, this is outside in a gazebo near the roof line, so it is out of most weather. It has been since I received it 3 years ago. It is not waterproof, nor designed to be weather proof, but has seen the heat and humidity of summer and a -25 below zero winter. It rocks, no need to hesitate on buying.

4 out of 5 eggsPurchased 2 of these

Pros: I have purchased two of these. One for my garage and one for family. They work so well for quickly streaming your music from a larger stereo. 8/10 sound quality.

Cons: Range is not that great but as long as you are in the same room you are fine. I have had to power cycle the unit maybe once a month due to lockup but I am ok with this. Only reason I docked an egg.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Good

Pros: --Good sound.
--Paired with my Lenova Laptop, Ipad mini, Ipod touch, not problem.
--Not so big. Easily portable.
--Loud enough.

Cons: --Does not charge from a USB port.

Other Thoughts: I wanted a blue tooth speaker that I could carry around the apartment with me. This fits the bill. Good sounding, but not high fidelity.

2 out of 5 eggsBuy at your own risk

Pros: Pairs quickly. Easy to operate.

Cons: Audio quality. Source NEEDS to be in line of sight.

Other Thoughts: In spite o attempting EVERY recommendation found online, I still could not make mine work without having to be right in front of it. Even if I turned I lost connectivity or got intermittent audio. To me that is a useless audio "cordless" device. Might as well be wired to it, at least I'd be able to turn.

1 out of 5 eggsAbout the audio quality...

Pros: It will connect.

Cons: Abysmal audio quality. This is the only con that matters.

Other Thoughts: The audio on this thing is horrible. The theory that it's the transmitting device which is the problem is bogus, not because it might not be the case, but rather because other Bluetooth audio receivers work properly.

With an iPhone, EVO 4G, Samsung G III, and multiple laptops connected to this Belkin I got universally wretched, compressed audio. These same devices streaming through the equivalent Logitech device work perfectly (and the range of the Logitech was also vastly superior, even after removing the weight plate from the Belkin). Note my audio setup is B&K Pro preamp -> Marchand electronic crossover, feeding an Adcom multi-channel amp driving bi-amped home-built Dynaudio speakers.

These same sources also work perfectly with my Etymotic Bluetooth headphones (not counting the annoying ever-present amp noise in the Etymotics). It is NOT your device, it is the Belkin - I suspect it just doesn't have sufficient resources to encode at high bit rates, but that's just a WAG.

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible quality

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Horrible sound quality. Not worth it unless you really want wireless speakers and don't care for sound quality.
