Gear Shift style FM Transmitter with Digital Display FMTD1

Pros: Turns on and plays audio if you don't need to charge your audio device. That's it.

Cons: Very low transmit power. Stopped working after two minutes while charging my device. Power just started cutting in and out, surprised it didn't damage my device. Unplugged my USB cable and it started working again.

Other Thoughts: Could just be a compatibility issue with my device, but the odds of my device being the only one are astronomical. Definitely don't buy if you own a Moto Photon. My opinion: Don't buy either way. Returning...

Pros: I originally bought it because I thought the design would be easy to remove from the lighter well. It was easy to install (I still haven't read the instructions), works perfectly, and sounds great.

Cons: I have no cons.

Pros: Plug in. Tune to the channel you want that is clear of any radio stations. Turn on the music and enjoy. Even charges some units while playing. Some MP3 players will not but if you have a good player, that's not an issue.

Cons: None

Pros: It turns on.....

Other Thoughts: I wanted to start using my HTC EVO phone with Pandora and my stored MP3s. I thought that this would be a good item to use to transmit FM signals to my radio to hear the music.

Item arrived in the mail and I opened it and was happy to see that it felt like it was made of high quality plastic. Went out to my car and plugged it in and the little screen showed 88.9, the same as I use for my Sirius radio. Plugged in my EVO with Pandora playing music and turned on the radio. Nothing...... Static. Tried several different channels on the transmitter and the radio. All the channels where just static. So I am very disappointed that this transmitter doesn't work. So don't waste your time and money on this item.....

Pros: * Was expecting terrible sound quality. Pleasantly surprised to find that it exceeded the quality of my Jeep's sound system and acoustic environment.
* Plug in and go.

Cons: * None so far.

Other Thoughts: I've owned this type of product before, used with a nice sound system. In that context, these things can't compete with, say, CD, in terms of sound quality. FM just doesn't have enough bandwidth compared to high-quality high-bandwidth digital media.

As long as you keep this inherent limitation in mind, I think you'll be perfectly happy with this.

Oh one more thing: These things don't transmit at very high power (you don't want to hijack everyone else's radio, after all). So the cigarette lighter might be too far from your antenna, to get a good signal. My antenna is by passenger window, and conveniently enough I already kept a 12-volt expander doohickey in there (for phone charger etc.). So this thing went in my glove compartment, right next to antenna.

Your results will definitely vary. If your antenna is on the back, you'll almost certainly need to locate this (or any) transmitter back there somehow. You can get a 12V extender cable on Newegg for cheap.

Pros: Has a USB charger, decent signal, comes with wire to connect device. Also, it shipped to me in 1 day. No tracking number but I can't argue with 1 day shipping when it said 3.

Cons: None at this time. =)`

Pros: Clear LCD display, the USB charge is a nice feature as well.

Cons: Top-heavy and long, it barely fits in the car cigarette lighter. Any jolt or bump in the road dislodges it.

Other Thoughts: It has potential to be great.... alas, it is not.
