Feels like the sound fills the whole room/area. Very simple and elegant, which is why I love it so much...no mess no fuss. Some reviews state that you can't play the device on the audio jack while the iPod/iPhone is plugged in...but you CAN, and it states so clearly in the manual that you just keep the play/pause button in for 3 seconds to switch to the device. I am currently in the middle east and I am using this Bose Soundock it is my biggest motivation out here. I get nothing but good compliments and it gets so loud I can't talk to the person sitting next to me. For as small as it is it really is amazing and gets louder without any consequence. Five star for Bose and keep up the good work. Cons: The AUX in the back, I wish there was a switch or a button on the remote control to switch between the ipod or the AUX. This is my only CON and it's really not a con. Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for. Also check your Ipod EQ settings to adjust the sound better I keep mine on Small Speakers. Pros: Amazing sound, versatile inputs, small footprint, HUGE sound Cons: Cannot leave the iPod/iPhone docked to charge when you want to use the external input option. There really should be a switch for that Other Thoughts: This little speaker system is by far the best audio investment I have ever made. It deftly handles sound like a baker weilds a spatula. That it has an Audio-In jack is even better. Don't question it, just get it. You will not be sorry. If it weren't for the whole undocking the iPod/iPhone in order to use the external input, it would easily be 5 eggs. Period. This is an amazing product, and I will be buying more for family. The music being played on it sounds clear, smooth, "live", and is not overbearing to listen to. It seems when I increase the volume on the system it increase in smaller intervals unlike most units I have used. I had a simple, generic clock/ipod dock radio station which were basically just speakers connected to the headphone jack of the ipod nano even though it was connected via the usb-thingy connector. Cons: As always the price ... the price for a Bose item is always pricey! Other Thoughts: I would always recommend a friend to physically go out and try an item like this out first-hand and then if it is as good as you hoped then buy it online. I had purchased the original SoundDock for my cousin in 2006 and she loved it, and when I visited her one day, she had it playing for a small gathering of ten (10) people in her one (1) bedroom apartment in the city. The sound filled up the whole apartment without having static or any of those effects when you turn up your speakers too high. Did you find this review helpful? Seeking Good Sound 8/11/2009 6:59:51 AM Tech Level: 4/5 Ownership: 3/5	Rating: 3/5Bose SoundDock Series II Returned Pros: The sound of this unit is very clear and robust. There is nothing wrong with the sound, yet I returned it to the retailer I bought it from because...... Cons: .....the difficulty with this unit is that the Auxilary In jack does not function at all as long as the iPod is docked in its cradle. What that meant is that anytime I wanted to play the device connected to the SoundDock through the Auxilary In I couldn't use the remote, but instead had to manually remove the iPod and then the device plugged into Auxilary In would function through the unit. Other Thoughts: For an item costing as much as this one, I can't understand why Bose would not have including the technology necessary to make switching between devices easier than actually having to remove the iPod everytime.
