The Belkin TuneCast allows you to listen to your iPod’s music library in your car, on your home stereo, or boom box, without wires! Just connect the TuneCast to your iPod’s docking port, and then tune to an open FM station. Tune your car or home stereo to the same station, and you’re done! You’ll get rich, full, CD-quality sound with no aggravating hissing tape sounds in the background. The TuneCast will remember 2 FM stations you choose, so you won’t waste time searching for a station when you connect.

The TuneCast automatically powers up when it detects an audio input signal, and powers down after approximately 30 seconds of no signal. Anyone who has ever been on a road trip, driving through an area with 3 radio stations (all of them bad!) will appreciate the ability to put his own tiny radio station on the air!

3 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work in every car

Pros: Bought this for a road trip to go with my iphone and works perfectly in my friend's 03 honda accord once the right frequency was found, no matter where I put it, only a very faint hiss in the backgroup but thats the issue with every FM transmitters.

Cons: After the road trip I tested in my old Jetta, and the in dash radio could not get the transmitter's signal AT ALL, very disappointed :(

Other Thoughts: Might be a thing with antannas, probably need some DIY work to get this thing to work properly in older cars.

1 out of 5 eggsBelkin should be ashamed

Pros: Non-existent

Cons: This product is absolutely horrible. Companies should not release items that fail to this degree. Do not buy this unless you want to pay to hear static, and get a headache trying to find a channel to play it on. The only difference about buying this product and flushing your money down the toilet is that you may be able to get a refund for this peice of you know what.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Cheap and relatively simple interface. Documentation provided with the unit is clear and easy to follow. not much else.

Cons: Transmitter power almost non-existant. Even when held next to reciever, it just barely comes through the static. It would be easier to hear if you just set the headphones on the seat next to you and just turned up the volume.

Other Thoughts: While very cheap. VERY Poor performance dictates it would be a good idea to look to other solutions.

1 out of 5 eggsLike throwing your money in the toilet

Pros: Absolutely none.

Cons: The thing is worthless. Can't even hear it right in front of the receiver. You have to manipulate the wires and continually shift the unit around to even barely get a staticy signal, and that fades as you drive. If you really want this unit, suggest you take your money and flush it down the toilet. It will be just as useful as buying this product.

Manufacturer Response:

Froido,
I can relate to the frustration you exhibit in your post. There are several products I have purchased in the past that have not met my expectation. Remember that this device transmits to the antenna of an FM tuner. If there is no antenna present then reception is going to be poor. For example in my car, the FM antenna is wired into the back windshield and I can't get a good signal with anyone's FM transmitter product - I have tried them all! I would suggest trying to run an antenna to the back of the receiver (it might have come in the box). In addition, receivers have a lot of input/output cables that can cause interference then there is only a little piece of metal coming out of the back acting as the FM antenna. I think you will have better results once you have better proximity to the antenna. You are also welcome to contact our tech support at (800) 2-BELKIN.

1 out of 5 eggsBelkin tunecast auto for ipod black model

Pros: If you are desperate, sometimes you can listen to your ipod with this device.
It also charges your ipod.

Cons: Static on every channel. Sometimes you have to hold the device in certain positions to get a clear sound. Very unreliable. When you do get a clear sound, it doesn't last long before going back to static.

Other Thoughts: Don't waste your money. This thing is junk.

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of Money

Pros: Nothing comes to mind

Cons: Where to start...I live between two major metropolitan areas so the airwaves in my area are crowded. This device does not have the power to transmit on any FM frequency in my area. Every channel has static, frequently this unit will lose the signal from my ipod and will be drowned out by a competing signal from another source. Often the unit will not detect the audio from my ipod and I never even hear my music/podcasts.

Other Thoughts: Had a old Belkin that lasted 5+ years before going flaky on me, so I figured I's stick with them and I decided I try this newer Belkin model. I completely regret purchasing this unit as it does not appear to work in crowded FM airwaves.

5 out of 5 eggsProHD

Pros: Matches home theater components. It is an "online" type battery backup, meaning it will not allow the voltage to sag momentarily when the power fails. I had my 52" on a cheaper apc es350 that was left over and when the lights went out- so did the tv.

Cons: Slight hum from the unit..beware it is heavy- a testament to its quality.
