Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: Standard shuttle layout with plenty of room for everything, easy to reach components, and solid stock settings performance out of the box. Cors-air Dominators, even with their high heatsink, have enough clearance. The RAID bios is very quick. Quiet, high quality construction, tried and true design. Worth it.
Cons: The third sata cable had a notchless connector on one end and won't work for normal sata harddrives. The power cables had to be moved around a bit. The last ram stick will have to be removed if you want to reach the sata anchors. The underside gets very warm, but the feet keep it lifted well enough. The CTRL-I was hard to see for the RAID bios because it goes by so fast. It has four rubber feet, but two chrome replacements. Hazy documentation on setting up RAID. Ended up downloading the newest AHCI-RAID floppy from shuttle.com to get XP64 to install. Audio drivers on CD wouldn't install in XP64, but the newest Real-tek 2.22 XP64 reference drivers work perfectly. Driver disc overall was a bit out of date, but chipset and nic drivers worked, and that's all that really mattered. Nothing bad or out of the ordinary to a builder.
Other Thoughts: AutoCAD machine: P-NY Qua-dro FX580, In-tel i7 965EE stock, 6GB Cors-air Dominator 3x2GB 1600 (currently SPD 1066 8-8-8-24, haven't tweaked yet), Two In-tel 32GB X25-E SLC SSD's Raid0 boot mounted in lowest 3.5". WD 1TB BlackLabel in middle 3.5", LG 22x DVDRW, WinXP64SP2
HDTach3 showed the Raid0 at 292MB/sec sustained, bursting at 469MB/sec. Yes, the 6GB swap file is on the ssd-raid. If this workstation somehow stays at 292MB/sec 24/7 without ceasing, yes it will wear out the drives in ~8.75 years. I'm fine with that. The time of fearing heavy overwriting is over.
This thing is Fast.

Pros: been a fan of shuttle for years and this one did not disappoint. i was hesitating because of the price but managed to get an open-box item for $479. the system came in perfect condition and with everything i need. i was up and running in no time. beats my old sn25p system which i now use as a media center for the living room.
Cons: no firewire and really only has room for 1 graphics card (with those humongous heatsinks)
also, the button on the faceplate doesnt seem to lineup with my bluray drive which i had to improvise a little bit
Other Thoughts: i miss having a media card reader built-in

Pros: System setup: Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Crucial Ballistix Tracer 6GB Kit Asus EAH5870 (2) WD 1Tb Black 7200 LG Black Blu-ray Reader & 16x DVD Burner Windows7
System runs great with no power issues thus far. I have used the system for DVD encoding, digital video editing, and an ocassional older game with no Win7/software issues thus far.
Cons: BIOS only recognizes 4 of the 6gb of Crucial Ballistix Tracer 6GB RAM that is installed. CPUID sees all three sticks. I updated to the latest BIOS. I contacted Shuttle Customer support and was given... "that RAM is not on the compatibility list"... Sorry. Ensure, if you buy this system that you buy the RAM on the compatability list otherwise you will not get any kind of customer service.

Work-Box Miss

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: less than 1 day
Pros: i7 in a small box.
Cons: Worthless for video work.
Other Thoughts: When I was told by our IT that Shuttle has an i7 box I was thrilled. I thought I could FINALLY build a nice video work-box to match the size and look of my TriCaster . But... it has no 1394! A good sound card and video card will kill the two slots.
All that waiting for nothing...
Looks like I'll be doing the Thermatake Lan box with an Asus Gene or an Evga 121 after all...

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Size, the thing is small. Quick and easy assembly, the majority of the wiring is pre-run.
Cons: PRICE, it's had to justify it. No Bluetooth, No built-in wifi
Other Thoughts: I fit a 5870 in it with very little room to spare
