5 out of 5 eggsGreat Computer for Kitchen

Pros: This has everything that I needed to setup and use in my kitchen. I brought this because I could mount on the wall and do internet surfing, download my favorite recipes and programs. When it was on sale I got the combo with the 4g memory which was a BIG plus. It is only a touch button away from being up and running. It works great with my wireless system in the house and I have had no problems. I had read the reviews of the black shuttle and was a bit concerned that I would not be able to get it up and going, but I really did not have to much of a problem.

Cons: It would have been great to have the hard drive in with the combo so that we would have had everything that we needed to build this unit. But since I got to pick and choose what hard drive I wanted I guess that was alright too.

Other Thoughts: Reading the reviews of other buyers really help me to understand how to build my computer and now I can tell everyone how easy it was to do. Really enjoying this product.

4 out of 5 eggsNoob - Just got mine, now what

Pros: Just got mine also on a plotting what I will do with it. I'm hoping to stream Netflix, Pandora and use it as an internet appliance into HDTV. I'm also interested in hooking it up into my truck for fun on the road. [passenger side only of course in the case of video.] ...Great size GPS!

Cons: Video sounds problematic. I want to use as web appliance to go out to HD TV....should I get VGA/??? converter?

I haven't cracked it open yet, so I'm wondering best option for HD? What fits. I've never owned/installed a SSD, but I'm guessing with the thinness that that's the only form factor that will fit into the box?

Other Thoughts: I'm interested in any ones' thoughts on configuration/applications?

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Very nice, responsive touch screen, runs surprisingly fast and quiet, virtually silent with ssd,

Cons: Quality control. Like previous poster, I too have a stuck pixel that is always visible except when the screen is bright white, really an eyesore. I am going to return it for another one.

Other Thoughts: Fyi, the screen surface is non glossy (matte). Can handle 720p but that's it. About size of 17" laptop (just an inch taller), fits inside 17" bag.

4 out of 5 eggsgood for the cost...

Pros: Solid construction, better than expected touch screen. Easy to access internals...and better construction/design inside than expected too...

Form factor is perfect for the kitchen where it will be placed as an internet appliance.

Cons: 1 stuck pix on the can just 1 be so dang distracting?

Other Thoughts: I am happy with the purchase overall

4 out of 5 eggsOverall, a great deal.

Pros: Good-sized touchscreen. Nice display.
Well constructed.
Can be mounted on a standard monitor mount.

Cons: Wireless needs to be turned on via software control panel each boot.
Driver disk has some unsigned drivers and the "Install Drivers" link installs some unneeded applications without prompting.
Hard drive and memory are not readily accessible.

Other Thoughts: Not for beginners, but if you've repaired/upgraded a laptop you'll have no problems. Treat it like working on a laptop (There are a few #0 or #00 Phillips screws, you'll need to have sufficient workspace and some way to keep the small parts in order.)
Once you remove the handle (getting the plastic cover off is the hard part.) and remove the back cover, you'll need to remove an RF shield (remember to reattach the ground wire) and the bracket for the handle/monitor mount to get to the memory.
Even though the hard drive is comparatively easy to get to, I wish I had bought an SSD to go with this from the start.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Deal for the Cost

Pros: Inexpensive (purchased with memory bundle), thin, acceptable CPU power for routine activities, touch screen is OK but the DPI is low (no pressure) so not a drawing tablet, good wireless tv solution when bundled with a Sling.

Cons: Where do I begin.. First go to the Shuttle site and download the latest bios update after you install your OS. I have seen multiple reviews (mostly on the Black version) where users have complained or returned this PC. The wireless and Webcam work but they need to be turned on with the ControlAP application. Often the “On” setting for Wireless and Webcam will initialize when you reboot so you need to turn it on again. The updated bios will fix this as it adds a setting in the bios configuration to have the Wireless and Webcam drivers permanently activated rather then being toggled by ControlAP. ALSO … The display appears a bit more fuzzy/dim (high contrast) then the standard LCD. That is because it is a touch screen and they all look this way. If you want to know what to expect look at the touch screen cash register at your local pub. Poor contrast and limited viewing angle is part of the deal. If your expections are high for a crisp picture ... avoid

Other Thoughts: Not the best project if you are a noob. Instructions are very limited and its not a 123 install. One user indicated that they returned as they did not get a Post Screen prior to installing the RAM and hard drive. The Post Screen will not display until the RAM and HD are installed so don't think that it is defective if this is your experience

5 out of 5 eggsShuttle

Pros: Fascinating device! Bought on a whim and glad I did. Has auto-run drivers for xp,vista,vista7 & 32-64bit. It's a great price point for creating Windows based tablet interest. Excellent build & feature set. Great sound quality & webcam resolution.

Cons: Minor oversight, no vertical adjustment on webcam. Obviously needed on this device.

Other Thoughts: Couldn't ask for more but would definitely consider more mobility battery pack (currently unavailable)? With a battery pack & more power this revolutionizes my 10+ years of my desktop builds and laptop repairing. Can't wait for future developments!

4 out of 5 eggsLow-cost touchscreen

Pros: Low cost for a touchscreen.
Atom D510 is still Atom, but it is dual-core, hyperthreaded, and 64-bit.
Can take 4GB RAM, better than many in this form factor.

Cons: Processor is an Atom - netbook-grade, and with embedded video.
On-board video doesn't handle HD video well.
No option for on-board optical - must use USB optical for most OS installs.
Max 500GB HD.
No eSATA, which would help compensate for the HD and optical limitations.

Other Thoughts: Wish I could get just the display portion for half the price and use a different computer portion. Then I'd use this as a 15" multi-touch display on an i5 mini.
I'll plan to update this review after I have more experience with it.
