3 out of 5 eggsLiked it for a while--then SATA failure

Pros: Small size, room for everything, pretty good cable management

Cons: SATA failed. No longer sees neither the optical nor hard disk drive.

Other Thoughts: Running WIN7-64 for a long time with a HDD that was partitioned into many partitions for ubuntu and WIN7 and data. One day while running Windows the other partitions were no longer detected! I had to replace the SATA HDD with a PATA (IDE) HDD. Can no longer use the SATA ports for anything. Cables okay, and both drives still work when I connected them to other systems. Tried flashing a newer BIOS, but still doesn't detect anything connected to SATA in BIOS. Don't seem to be getting any output from on-board DVI either.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Box

Pros: Shuttle. A little bigger than most Shuttle boxes because of the standard motherboard (though mini-ITX). Brought it to replace dead Shuttle with motherboard problems in proprietary board. Swapped parts so biggest problem was remembering where I put the old CPU heat-sink.

Cons: None, yet

4 out of 5 eggsnice shuttle unit for intel 775

Pros: my first shuttle, its size is a little bigger than I thought it would be, but I see its because they mount the psu on the side of the case

2 sata cables included inside the enclosure, and an available 3rd sata port.

you will need your own hsf (thankfully I didnt chuck my s775 oem because I always aftermarket)

all the cables are the right length, they make great use of space in this little box

everything runs so quiet, even with the oem s775 hsf

2 front usb, and mic/headphone ports

small, stylish

Cons: I do wish they included at least angled sata cables because its a tight spot between the bottom hard drive and oem cpu cooler. I had to use mine own because it was way too tight.
you will need to cut the plastic holder that holds the two sata cables in on the side of the case so they reach your -optical and hard drives (they didnt need to attach them like this in the first place honestly)
no sd card reader ( i knew this before buying)
no firewire (I knew this before buying)
larger box than original shuttle

Other Thoughts: overall, I do recommend this unit, nice features in a small footprint, can hold two drives, addin video card, etc. I bought this for $100 shipped when it was available.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PC Alternative form factor

Pros: Self-contained; PS and MoBo included; lots of CPU alternatives; fast memory support (8GB/Win7-64bit); on-board video; quiet. Front panel option access.

Cons: Second (lower) 5.25 HD may bump against your heatsink/fan if too tall; 3.5 might be better.

Other Thoughts: Dimensions of 'required' heatsink are misleading; you can use many; I used Rosewill RCX-Z90-AL 92mm Sleeve CPU Cooler and a RCX-Z90-CP (copper core) on two different builds with equal outcomes on Intel Q8200 Quad processors with good results using BIOS-controlled fan speeds. Also installed nVidia 8600GTS PCI-E 256MB DDR3 card on 2nd unit with no impact on power supply.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Box. Why is it discontinued??

Pros: Really nice, inexpensive Shuttle box. Went to buy a 2nd one to replace an old Shuttle and found they aren't in stock. What's up with that?

Cons: Slightly bigger than older Shuttles. Doesn't use the standard Shuttle 'heat pipe', so you need a fan. But a really good little box.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Oh.. I meant to mention the onboard audio and video are quite good. I haven't taxed the video much however early signs look great.

Cons: see previous

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a deal!

Pros: Looks cool, roomy inside, fast, reasonably quiet, cheap :)

Cons: Proprietary board...If your board fails you suposedly can use a tiny ITX board, not to be mistaken (like I did when researching) for the much more common mini/micro atx. It could also be just a bit quieter maybe a ssd would help.

Other Thoughts: I put a dirt cheap e34oo celeron in it, 2 gigs 1300 (or whatever the *ell they call it on any given day) Fedora 16 and wow! this thing flies. It showed me I don't need or utalise quad cores because I have two of them (AMD) and honestly I can't tell the difference.

On a side note, installing the heat sink, which I had never done on an Intel, went off without a hitch. Just make sure the pins are pointed correctly, heatsink is down all the way on the board, and then push evenly on all four at once.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Purchased an Open Box verison of this product, popped some PNY DDR3 RAM in with a cheap Celeron E3400 and 2 1TB HDDs. Works very well for what I needed.

Very quiet.

Cons: Cable management is a bit of a mess, but is to be expected with a PSU which isn't modular.

PSU is only 350W according to the manufacturer's website. Since it is not a standard form factor, it may be difficult to upgrade without going through the manufacturer.

5 out of 5 eggsgood replacement for older CPUs

Pros: Good little unit & good replacement for a failing system - nice thing was the ability to update ram to DDR3 & have a 64bit OS on the system without having it bog. Nice compact size, easy to fit things into it quite

Cons: FYI just be-careful when installing things back there are some sharp edges on this.

Other Thoughts: like the front face plate piece that can be removed & the ability to add/change pictures or what have you to customize it
