1 out of 5 eggsdisappointing

Pros: it is small

Cons: This machine is used as a linux workstation, bios has been updated, etc. The machine (successfully) reboots only 50% of the time and has to be powercycled more often that you'd expect for a $500 bare-bones machine. Stock Fan is also really loud - I had to buy a replacement "quiet fan" from another vendor.

Other Thoughts: Shuttle products are normally great, but this bare-bones platform is one to stay away from if you want to run linux.

2 out of 5 eggsStay Away

Pros: Nice and Small, low noise, Clean assembly and wiring

Cons: Shuttle is UNABLE to provide a reliable bios update method, their last bios update state that
"3.Fix update BIOS will crash down when use winflash tool''

Guess what, it crashed during the update using a DOS USB BOOT DISK
say ok on all step but at the end say error at 150%

THIS IS MY SECOND FAILLED BIOS UPDATE
(One was sucessfull, yay!)

I will try to find a new ASUS MOBO to put in the case... no more shuttle for me... whatever the fix the offer... I have other thing do do with my life than switching system...

Other Thoughts: Perfect system for people who NEVER EVER UPDATE THEIR BIOS

5 out of 5 eggsPower in a small box...

Pros: Very powerful for the size, plenty of USB 2.0 and 3.0 port, ventilation seem to be good, casted heat sink bracket give a nice finish

There's plenty of room for such a small box, I installed a GFX dual slot card in it, a card reader, a 2TB HD and an MSATA SSD

Cons: The usb 3.0 driver are not ready yet for windows 8, the usb phone charging driver isn't availlable for windows 8 either, had to use an ASUS driver to get the usb 3.0 port working in windows, this is a matter of time probably but still not acceptable for a 500$ barebone...

Be carefull with the bios upgrade, the windows 32 and 64 are DOS executable so if you click them they wont open a confirmation and will start flashing right away (quite risky...)

Other Thoughts: Nice to save space!

5 out of 5 eggsSX79R5

Pros: This makes my 5Th Shuttle PC and I always had good
luck with these little guys, and this one is no different. Shuttle has packed a lot of processing horse power under a small hood and everything works as advertised on this unit.
With an Intel 3820 CPU and a GTX 560ti video card this one that I have games very well. Everything went together fairly easy during the build, however cable management could be challenging if your new to DIYS. I have ran Prime95 and played Battlefield 3(very CPU and GPU intensive) for hours with out any problems. It does offer some overclocking features. The cooling fan will spool-up when under load, sort of like a low-pitched grow but not objectionable in my opinion.

Cons: Non really, see other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: The only issue I had was updating the BIOS which Shuttle gave me some help on, so everything is good to go on my unit.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth the extra money

Pros: Nice refresh on front face

Cons: We have ordered and built about 50 total shuttle systems and this new model has massive issues with Power supply and posting.
Even after we had exchanged all the parts and built another Shuttle system with this same model, the system will sometimes post, other times it will freeze after being on for two minutes or just display a scrambled screen.

Stay away from this new model and go back to the LGA1155 socket set.

Shuttle was no help on the phone blaming the hardware that I installed, funny thing is that I bought the exact spec that they (shuttle) recommend on their website.
