3 out of 5 eggsNice when it works

Pros: - Works great with Windows 8
- Plays HD video smoothly on 40" LCD TV
- Low cost
- Quiet

Cons: - It didn't work with the RAM I purchased; I had to check their website to find which brands were supported
- Half of the time it doesn't output a video signal when I turn it on
- A few times it has locked up during boot or when browsing through the BIOS
- The product description claims the video card model is HD7410M but it is actually HD6430M

Other Thoughts: The first one I received was DOA.

The second one worked after I put the memory in the slot FURTHEST away from the motherboard. It would not boot when the memory was in the slot closest to the motherboard.

Windows 8:

I installed everything using my PC monitor and afterwards hooked it up to my TV. Windows would load with a resolution that wasn't supported by my TV so at first I couldn't see anything.

When it boots up you have to hold Shift+F8, click Troubleshoot, then find startup options. After it restarts, select the Enable Low Resolution option.

Once it finally loaded, I tried to increase the screen resolution but it did not list the resolutions supported by my TV. To resolve this I went to Screen Resolution > Advanced Settings > Monitor tab > Unchecked "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" > Adapter tab > List All Modes. I was then able to select resolutions up to 1920 x 1080.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Perfect Nettop.

Pros: -Very small form factor (about the size of a hard cover book)
-Very low power consumption (10 times less than my gaming desktop idle, 20 times less under load)
-Powerful ENOUGH for web browsing, HD Video, and just about anything on the Source Engine.
-Wireless N
-Extremely reliable

Cons: -It's not a gaming computer, though it is not priced as such

It's really hard to find any valid criticisms here.

Other Thoughts: This is not a powerhouse PC. It's the kind of computer you build for your Mom. It's small, it's cheaply priced, it's powerful enough for just about anything your average computer user might be able to throw at it. Enthusiasts will find it lacking, but what are you expecting to get for $250? At this price point, this little guy can't be beat.

I have been ordering the Shuttle XS35 series of computers since they first showed up on Newegg. It's been through 3 hardware revisions and gets better every time.
