Other Thoughts: I bought it to use it as an IPCop firewall/router (installed Ipcop 2.19 version, GNU/Linux 3.4-3). During the setup I can see the dual Eth0 and Eth1. One Ethernet port is to connect to my ISP modem and the other for my internal network. The Ethernet connected to my ISP cannot get an IP address from the modem and does not transmit or receive any packet. Even setting it on a static IP address does not make a difference. The Ethernet connected to my internal network does not assign any IP to any device on my internal network. The firewall is also the DHCP server of my internal network. I exchanged many emails with Shuttle support team, got them to RMA and swap the box for another one but same thing. I downloaded the latest Linux driver from RealTek website for the dual adapter (Realtek 8111G) and installed it per the instructions but no luck. It seems to simply be NOT compatible with IPCop 2.19. I now have to spend another $50 to get two USB Network adapters so I can use this box as an IPCop firewall. The fact that this box had a Dual Gigabit LAN Network is the main reason I purchased it in the 1st place. I am disappointed.

Pros: 1) completely silent. not a peep.
2) easy and fast to install/upgrade memory and HD
3) solid construction
4) boots off removable storage (USB/SD)
5) low power
6) tiny size

Cons: a) CPU not upgradable. Need more cores to run more VMs
b) not designed for any standard wall/rack mounts. designed to mount to the back of monitor or stand alone. i don't have any monitors attached. stuffed in a rack. so had to build my own mounts.

Other Thoughts: i replaced an aging ATX server with this. took me about 15m to install memory and SSD, boot off a linux USB and have it running. copied a VM from old server to this and done. liked it so much i bought another to run pfsense. replaced my off-the-shelf router.

Cons: Port layout (Would prefer all ports on one side)
Vertical stand is not snug, wobble

Other Thoughts: If you are looking for a very compact, low power unit this is it. Using these for industrial control and video NVR applications. Very easy to configure.
Wish the ports were to one side, making it easier to place inside an equipment enclosure (DIN Rail).
Can run on 12VDC! Confirmed by test and Shuttle.
