5 out of 5 eggsAwesome in a Small Package

Pros: - Amazingly fast boot with the SSD
- Suprisingly powerful for low power i3
- Graphics are decent to play most games on low/medium
- Small, and easy to move and carry around in storage

Cons: - None for its size or purpose

Other Thoughts: This works great as a HTPC or a full PC on the road if a laptop or tablet isn't your thing

3 out of 5 eggsIf it breaks DON'T replace through Intel

Pros: Intel does have support.

Cons: Intel knows nothing of this "special edition"

Other Thoughts: I bought this unit and had to send it back to Intel after a BIOS update turned it into a brick (see other review)

3 weeks later and here's what I just got as a replacement:

I paid a premium price for the unit that I had. I know the internals are the same on the substitution, but that is not the point. If I would have used the RMA process at NewEgg I would have gotten what I paid for. I ASSUMED I was helping Intel by sending them my bricked unit. I did not realize I would not get a replacement for what I purchased, that I would instead get a lesser substitution.

Had Intel sent me a black i5 based NUC I would understand the reasoning that I didn't get back the limited edition I bought. At least it would have been an upgrade.

This does not seem fair to me as a consumer. $30 (and $13 more in shipping) and weeks without my computer for an issue that was not at all my fault. NewEgg would have turned this around to me in 2 days and paid for shipping with a call tag (I have the emails from them if someone wants to question that).

I'm glad that Intel still has great support - but this was a really bad call on someone's part......

1 out of 5 eggsVery Disappointed

Pros: Small and quiet

Cons: This product was a total disappointment
It is sluggish with 4 gb ram and 128 gb ssd drive(msata)
windows 7 pro with few open apps and it was much slower than a laptop at a comparable price point (500$ with drive and ram)
the package does not include the power cord which is inacceptable.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a test for a potential client site implementation, thankfuly i only bought one and it is on its way back to new egg.

If i could i would give the product 0 eggs as it was a waste of my time and a hassle to return...

1 out of 5 eggsIssues with SSDs/blutooth KB & BIOS update briked it

Pros: The box plays the Intel jingle when you open it.

Cons: Right out of the box I could not remove the screw on the mobo for the WiFi card - turns out this is an incredibly common issue (on the Intel site forums)

Updating the BIOS from v40 (ANCIENT given the August MFGR data on the unit itself) to v46 turned it into a doorstop

Other Thoughts: Where is the Intel of 10 years ago?
Look over the Intel forums before you buy a NUC, folks. You'll probably pass - ESPECIALLY if you don't run Windoze as that seems to be all Intel thinks runs on a computer these days.
I was relatively happily running XMBCbuntu on this thing - with one exception: when I hung an SSD off the USB port my Bluetooth connected mouse/keyboard would become incredibly unresponsive.
So - I thought perhaps a BIOS update would provide a solution. First off - the NUC site on is L-A-M-E - info is SPARSE at best, and every download is intended for Windoze. I eventually got the BIOS image and put it on a USB key. F7 at boot and the BIOS utility saw the image no problem. Selecting the image to upgrade resulted in an immediate reboot - which took me to a "partial" network boot screen - where it stayed for 10 minutes until I powered it off. This would be that last thin my NUC would ever display. It now boot loops - never even displaying the Intel splash screen.

What's laughable is that Intel warranty site is broken - I put in my part number and serial number (which for all the world looks like I got "Unit #1" - it ends in four 0s) and it just sits and spins checking to see if I have warranty support.....

Not even sure what the options are for PCs in this footprint - but don't care as I'm never getting another NUC. I was really excited by the prospect, and am majorly disappointed to see that the Intel quality I knew years ago is nowhere to be found in these Chinese-made devices.

5 out of 5 eggsNice little box

Pros: 1. Small Form Factor
2.. Efficient Design
3. Reasonable speed.

Cons: Only Intel HD 4000 Video, but honestly, you can't fit a Radeon in there.

Other Thoughts: I set this up to entertain my grandmothers 3 youngest grandchildren, and her 2 youngest great grandchildren. I installed a windows 8 license on it, XBMC, and some emulation software. So far, no complaints and it hasn't gone over 62c.
