4 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Small, relatively quiet. Pre-loaded Windows 7. 4GB ram.

Cons: Case is plastic and seems a little cheap, cover can be difficult to take off/put on. A tad difficult to install base. Unsure if supports HD audio. I'm only using Netflix currently as I haven't converted my DVDs and put them on the HDD.

Other Thoughts: This works great as an HTPC for me. I have it connected via HDMI. Wireless works fine. I bought a RF keyboard/trackball combo to use with it and I can sit at my couch and surf internet/watch Netflix.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Streams 1080P over the local network, no problem.

Cons: Fans kind of loud.
Netflix streaming HD video quality is choppy

Other Thoughts: Case is pretty flimsy plastic. Stand also is pretty cheap. I don't move it much though, so it isn't too much of an issue. Included remote kind of sucks to use, but it is nice to have it.

1 out of 5 eggsNever Again

Pros: The price was good - but the computer doesnt' work.

Cons: my brother recommended New Egg because he was a long term happy customer. I would never ever buy from New Egg again. The mother board died within couple of weeks of getting the computer. I contacted New Egg and since I had used the bar code to submit a rebate ( the rebate really made the computer a great deal) I could not return it. I had to go to the manufacturer. As of this date, we have not heard response from them after several phone calls and emails. I also have not rec'd the rebate on the computer. So I have a computer that doesn't work and did not get the rebate in the mail on the broken computer. No I will not use New Egg again no matter how great a deal it is.

4 out of 5 eggsA little loud, barely enough CPU for HD

Pros: Very small and low cost. I purchased this computer to replace a more powerful linux computer that played my downloaded HD videos, but could never manage to play flash without crashing.

Overall web browsing and youtube are very responsive.

Runs Hulu and Youtube at 420 resolutions without much problem, but stutters on 720 flash videos.

Downloaded videos are playable at 720p and 1080p if you have the right player, Media Player Classic worked best for me over VLC and SMPlayer.

I haven't tried any games.

Cons: First unit had a faulty solder connection between the heatpipe and the CPU, and it would overheat within a minute of turning the computer on. RMA was not a problem and the second unit is fine.

The fan can be a little loud at times, and varies quite a bit, sometimes without a noticeable workload. It would be entirely masked by a nearby standing fan, except that the computer's fan makes a higher pitched noise.

Other Thoughts: The "Barebones" of the system is that it lacks memory. I looked all over the specs and couldn't figure out what was missing, so I ordered the memory late, but that's my own fault. Everything else is ready to go.

I wish I had looked more into the AMD e350 series before buying this system, I feel like the Atom can just barely keep up with HD flash video, and AMD may be a better option.

5 out of 5 eggsSlick

Pros: Small, fast and powerful. Neet little machine. compact form factor. Will fit almost anywhere which is precisely why I bought it.

Cons: AMI American Megatrends Bios does not have the auto restart after power restored. this was a deal breaker for me. I bought two of these for a specific purpose which I find will not work for me.

Other Thoughts: Cannot seem to find a bios in this form factor with the auto restart upon power on feature. Micro ATX form factor is much larger once processor is onboard with heatsink.

1 out of 5 eggsJust Say No

Pros: Good on paper.

Cons: Cheap, cheap, cheap. The stand wouldn't even fit on properly without cutting plastic. The cpu fan is loud, and doesn't instill confidence in it's abilities. Was a pain to setup via HDMI (update TV firmware first, but really why are you buying this). Best of all, after 2 (!!) days I was alerted to a burning smell in my living room, which I discovered was coming from the exhaust vent of the unit. Powered down and left it for hours. From then on, only bios error codes and something loose underneath the motherboard (inaccessible). The cooling system is quite inadequate, and the quality control is worse.

Other Thoughts: If you go to Jetway's return section of their website, there is an entire column dedicated to DOA returns. That should be a red flag.

4 out of 5 eggsA few installation hiccups, but good product

Pros: Very affordable, hard to beat this power for this price. Once I got it set up, it's working great.

Cons: Might be my TV"s fault, but installation was a headache.

When I first plugged this in to my TV to boot it up, I used an HDMI cable. DO NOT DO THIS. For whatever reason, it and my TV were not communicating correctly, and the TV gave an "invalid format" error. So, I swapped the HDMI for the RGB, but alas!, the unit would not switch its output from HDMI to RGB. Long story short, I ended up holding the power button to reboot, and the this resulted in an error that hung installation every time I rebooted, requiring me to reset to factory settings, which in turn required a USB keyboard (I haven't had a desktop in so long, I had to go out and buy one).

Another issue was that my TV was reporting its resolution incorrectly, which required a TV firmware update (not this product's fault, but added more headache to the installation). Actually, you should probably preemptively update your TV firmware before installing this, as maybe the HDMI would have worked from the get-go then, who kn

Other Thoughts: I haven't played with the HTPC interface software yet, but it looks kinda cheesy/lame. Would be great to be able to set shortcuts within that to stuff like Hulu, ESPN3, etc., even if those shortcuts just launched the browser.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: I'm very surprised at the power this little guy packs. It blows my Lenovo q110 out of the water.
I have set mine up as an htpc using windows media center to watch HD digital cable and stream movies from my NAS. The wireless N is plenty quick enough to stream 720p content over my network.
I noticed upon booting there are options to overclock the gpu, I haven't yet tried that out but even without that, the system was plenty fast for my needs. And I tend to get the most out of my electronics!

Cons: Flemsy plastic case. I was under the impression, from the description, that the case was made of aluminum. Normally this would be reason enough for me to demand a refund but in this case the system's performance makes up for this problem.

Other Thoughts: I read other reviews that made claims of choppy video, this made me uneasy making this purchase but I couldn't figure out how with the specs it has it would possibly have choppy video playback (I suspect that user has a defective system). I am however, pleasantly reassured that the system plays video just fine.
I'm not sure why some people are complaining that it took too long to setup, thats rediculus, first run setups are usually pretty automated until the point where you set the time and username settings so find something to do for 10-20 mins while it sets up your system.

Intel Atom d525 paired up with Nvidia ION2 is a great combo for any HTPC!

4 out of 5 eggsJetway

Pros: Easy to install memory. Faster than expected have used a single core atom in past dual makes big difference no delays in playback. Nice case design doesn't stick out which is what I was looking for.

Cons: Can here fan occasionally (but it is a computer). The audio/headphone jack is in front of unit so you would have to have the door open to use which isn't ideal. The port doubles as an optical audio out (must purchase cable) many reviews report this was on back of unit, it's not.

Other Thoughts: If you are going to hook up to TV via hmdi you will need to get an update for nvidia ion hdmi audio driver. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Sound did not work through hdmi out-of-box. Purchase a wireless keyboard and mouse IR not practicle when using as computer.

5 out of 5 eggslove it!

Pros: -low cost and more powerful than other nettops i saw on newegg (better processor + ion2)
-low power consumption + virtually silent
-dual core atom with each core using hyperthreading (i.e. the OS sees 4 processors instead of 2!)
-aesthetically pleasing and small form factor (size of your typical wireless router)
-works 100% with 64-bit linux (ubuntu 11.04) out of the box, INCLUDING REMOTE!
-1080p
-has HDMI, DVI, and S/PDIF (optical)

Cons: -3.5" stereo jack is on front (though there's an S/PDIF optical output on the back). not a big deal
-video playback can be a little choppy, even with ion2 and nvidia's proprietary drivers
-RAM did not come preinstalled (easy, takes a minute to pop in, but some people might be discouraged/intimidated)

Other Thoughts: I needed a dedicated desktop, but didn't want anything fancy or expensive. I needed it for doing coding, writing papers, listening to music, web browsing. Runs very well, faster than i expected for a nettop (probably because it has 4 gb of ram instead of the standard 1-2 for netbooks/tops). It's better than a Pentium 4 in performance (tom's hardware has some good benchmarks on this), however video playback can be slightly choppy. I personally wouldn't use this (or any nettop) for a HTPC because of the video issue, but as a lightweight server/desktop it's awesome. Some other reviewer said it doesn't work with Linux...I found everything to work with linux (including compiz and it's smoooooth). the manual that comes with it is quite thorough (e.g. how to replace ram, how to replace hdd).

overall it's a great buy, definitely would recommend it. i'm not sure about using it as an HTPC. it's not as bad as i might be making it sound, but consider somethin a little beefier.
