3 out of 5 eggsWhy

Pros: As far as a barebones goes this looks good, it supports 4 800 mhz memory sticks, it is AM2 which isnt bad, and the 6150 isn't a bad graphics engine if you aren't a die-hard gamer. Asus is a reliable company.

Cons: Why oh why do any of these companies install a 300W power supply. If a person is new to this (besides the fact that you should build if you don't know what you are doing.) they won't understand that all that is going to do is possibly kill whatever parts you put in it.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice and affordable barebone - 5 eggs!

Pros: newegg got it to me in 2 days!! Small, sleek design....runs very quiet and the case keeps my processor cool @ about 31 * fine with the amd athlon 64 x2 3800+ with no problems at all.....Onboard video is very good compared to others, runs my acer X191W 19" widescreen on DIV connection at 1440 x 900 resolution. i would recommend this to anyone who is on a budget, but want to powerful, versatile pc. for $xxx, for quality asus products, it unbeatable

Cons: none that i can think of....everything is smooth sailing right now

5 out of 5 eggsAsus Vintage - CLASSIC!!

Pros: Small form factor, beautiful retro 60's transistor radio design. Backlit blue lcd, lets me know when its on. Lots of ports,usb,firewire,HDI/VGA etc. I've used vGA & HDI ports with LCD monitors and it worked fine for me. The quality is very good. The motherboard may vary by model, production time etc. or so I'm guessing because there was no real motherboard manual included. After looking over the ASUS website I found the manual and downloaded it. No fuss - setup was a breeze, sure beats scraping your knuckles on sharp corners trying to build your own case/MB configuration.

Great little computer and quiet enough to do audio/video work.

Cons: No motherboard manual included, only the quick install guide. The front bezel clips are long and in the way when installing hard drive. no big deal just pop the bezel loose. Side of case for access has screws - replace with thumbscrews if you want easy access.

Other Thoughts: Dandy little computer, looks great, doesn't take up much space and doesn't really need a video card/sound card/firewire card etc. because everything is on board and works well unless your a super game nerd in which case you'll want a video card that costs more than your car and a sound card that comes with a mortgage and probably shouldn't be considering this unit in the 1st place.

5 out of 5 eggsgood budget buy

Pros: Pre-assembled, super easy build even for a first timer. Decent parts in a relatively sturdy, good looking case. Fairly quiet stable operation. Overall good value for the money.

Cons: No front case fan, squeezing in more than one HDD can be tricky, not a lot of room for expansion.

Other Thoughts: This was my first build, and I put it together in less than an hour! Everything went together flawlessly. The real drawback is the lack of room to grow. I decided to forego a 3.5 FDD in favor of a SD Card reader and discovered that I had to steal a USB connection from the front to make it work. Installing the First HDD is easy, but putting in another requires some wiggling. Definitely NOT a gamer's case. Still, it fits the bill for a lot of casual or budget users and doesn't look like a import car customisation gone awry.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS V2-AH2 barebones

Pros: Pre-assembled, saves a lot of time and headache. This is an excellent entry level unit, and required no configuration. Very quiet and no issues at all. A great value for the money.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to build a basic computer for a family member. I also bought a Hanns-G 19" LCD display from Newegg along with a WD SATA HD, an AMD 3800 CPU, 512MB RAM, Sony DVD/CD burner, floppy, keyboard/mouse for a very good price, and it was delivered within 3 days across the country. Newegg is the best for computer parts.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Box

Pros: All quality parts from Asus, as usual, but for a low price compared to buying them separately. Case is roomy for a micro, and looks beautiful. Power supply is adequate to run a modest system (we'll see if it lasts). Motherboard is the usual Asus quality--loaded with features and very stable.

Cons: Only one SATA power cable from the power supply, although I guess if you were building a bigger system with more than 1 SATA drive, you should upgrade the PSU anyway. No front panel fan, and if you were to install one, it would be half blocked by the slide cover for the USBs.

Other Thoughts: Usually I like to put things together from scratch, but in this case, I chose to buy an Asus barebones and I wasn't disappointed in the least.

3 out of 5 eggsIt's Decent

Pros: Classy design, small box but big enough to work inside of, has most of the top of the line features, decent onboard gfx card, quiet enough that when I first booted it I thought I might have fried the processor

Cons: using the onboard dvi makes the comp crash, it'll only let me set my memory to 1.9v instead of the 2.0v kingston needs to run at ddr2 800mhz

Other Thoughts: I feel kinda gypped realizing I can't use my memory to it's full potential, but overall the specs are still pretty good, I guess you get what you pay for.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent First Build

Pros: This is my first barebones build, and it couldn't have been easier. There's plenty of space for everything I've put into it, all the cables give you ample room to move things around. I was worried about the front ports and power button lining up with the front panel when I removed/replaced it, but it fit nicely. The included GeForce 6150 is much more capable than I thought it would be. I'm running linux (FC6), and it's working beautifully with the system.

Cons: If you buy a fan for your CPU, make sure you get one that clips on to the mounting bracket included and attached to the motherboard. If you remove the bracket, the screw sockets fall back behind the motherboard and it's a major hassle to get them back to where you can screw the mounting bracket/other fan mounting setup into the machine.

Other Thoughts: The case is attractive and sturdy, there are more vents in it than I'm used to seeing, and it's doing a great job of keeping a good airflow going. Drives slide in and out easily and all the screws lined up perfectly without adjustments or damage to anything. The only bad thing about my experience is I probably now think I'm way more capable than I actually am, just because it's all been so easy to set up.
