1 out of 5 eggsGave Up After Two

Pros: Exterior looks nice.

Cons: Two in a row didn't work. Instead of #3 Newegg mistakenly sent back the second dead one. I took this as a sign from a higher power and went with a Shuttle SH67H3 instead.

The build is low quality and in addition to the tiny drive bay mentioned by others, I defy anyone to fit a 5.25" optical drive in the bay provided. It's about .5" too short.

Other Thoughts: This is a frustrating enclosure to work on.

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry to hear of your troubles, not likely two units would produce same problem you are explaining. Recommend that you contact Biostar support for assistance. 626-581-1055 menu 2 or email support@biostar-usa.com

1 out of 5 eggsThird Time A Charm?

Pros: Don't know yet. It certainly looks nice.

Cons: I've had 2 DOAs so far and awaiting number 3.

2 out of 5 eggsFALSE ADVERTISING

Pros: It's a nice mobo, and the case looks pretty slick.

Cons: This does NOT have two 3.5" internal bays. The second 3.5" bay is not full thickness, it's about a quarter of an inch too thin to allow me to have two hard drives in it. I guess you could maybe mount an SSD there with a 2.5"-to-3.5" adapter (not included).

And other reviewers are right; the fans are very loud. The bios has pretty fine-grained control of fan-speed, but only for the case fan.

Other Thoughts: The cables could be run a little nicer if they were slightly longer.

4 out of 5 eggsThe price is right.

Pros: Small form factor. 2nd Gen Intel i-series compatibility. Has an expansion slot. Comes with IR remote and sensor. Stable board with no hiccups since build. More than capable of creating a powerful HTPC.

Cons: The power supply would be my first complaint. Quite honestly I went for an FSP Group FSP300-60GHT 300W TFX12V 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply since I knew I was going to do some expansion and modding for the build. The fan wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. There is only one fan so be aware of that. I replaced the fan with a SilenX 80mm effizio that is super silent and powerful. Sharp metal, but that's expected for this price point. It's a "shallow" case so be careful if you are going to use an after market heatsink for the CPU.

Other Thoughts: For the money you just can't beat this little box. My parents love the HTPC I built for them with this. It was a little hard to get everything in there, but this is a small form factor HTPC setup so what do you expect?

3 out of 5 eggsDecent, but with drawbacks

Pros: Small form factor. Good motherboard with lots of options.

Cons: Case fan is WAY TOO LOUD! My desktop tower is quieter than this. Truly annoying levels of fan noise.

Other Thoughts: If you use RAM with tall heat spreaders, you won't be able to install a DVD drive because the back of the drive will hit the spreaders.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat box

Pros: Ordered this for a small workstation for my wife. Paired with an i3 2120T and 8GB Mushkin Silverline. This booted right up, everything runs cool, works flawlessly thus far. I am very pleased.... Mind you, I bought this not for a HTPC. Wifey is running the full Adobe Master Suite, a slew of Microsoft products (including Visual Studio, SQL Server). Runs cool, is pretty quiet, and has a ton of features. Very pleased!

Cons: Only a couple things. No SATA III, but I knew that getting in. Fan could be quieter, but it's no loud, and 80mm's are cheap. There is a red light that shines from the side vent. It is also kind of a pain to install the hard drive and disc drive. Had to finagle with a 90 degree screwdriver.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this box to anyone. I've yet to try the remote, but other than the fan being louder than I find preferable (still not that loud...) and keeping an eye on the PSU (these tiny boxes have a reputation for sub-par PSU's), I don't have anything but good things to say.

5 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: Easy installation - Win 7. Booted first attempt. SSD was easy to install/configure and is silent and very fast. Temps low 30's Centigrade with stock cooler and CPU at idle. Intel Core i3 HD 3000 graphics very fast. Internet pages snap open. Every blu-ray we have played runs smoothly. We are not gamers. The HD 3000 graphics more than meets our needs.
Fairly functional remote control included with box.
RAM running at advertised speed with no BIOS RAM adjustments required.
PC box was dented a bit by UPS but machine was well-padded in styrofoam and not damaged
My wife really likes this PC.
Would buy it again.

Cons: Manual is limited. Some fan noise.
Even more limited manual for included remote.

Other Thoughts: HDPC with blu-ray drive / SSD.
