1 out of 5 eggs2 RMAs and counting

Pros: Small mini ITX system. Looks like a perfect replacement for my aging XPC at a good price. Would like to write more, if I could actually complete my build. If the third one is undamaged I'll update this review.

Cons: I could be the unlucky recipient of a batch of bad batch of Foxconn barebones, but I am sending back my second one after receiving it today and opening it to check the CPU socket to find pins bent again. The first one had the same problem, but I had to assemble that system to find it would not POST or have a HDMI/DVI signal at all before finding the problem. I am beginning to question Foxconn's outgoing inspection. Newegg's RMA service was kind enough to offer me a refund or another item. I opted for a third product, since I really like the look of the system and have already purchased my CPU, memory and HDD for it.

Other Thoughts: I have been a Newegg customer for over 10 years and building PCs for double that. This is the first time I got a bad item from Newegg. Their RMA process is fair and efficient. Sadly they can't open an item before they ship it or else it can't be sold as new. I suspect the issue lies with Foxconn and is most likely a failure of putting back the CPU socket cover after doing the system QA. After the first incident I carefully pulled the plastic cover that covers the socket pins during transport and found 3 pins bent. One in the middle of a group of pins and 2 along the inner square of pins. I'm at a loss of how someone can bend those pins and have the ones surrounding them remain intact. Maybe the person who QA'ed the system didn't even power on the unit. I'm interested if other Foxconn unit are having similar bent pins issues or if this is an isolated incident.

4 out of 5 eggsNice and small, inexpensive and a bit cheap

Pros: Nice and small, comes with the necessary heat sink. Basic setup with not a lot of room for extras. Low profile video card (PCI-e). Room for two 3.5" drives and just enough for a 5.25".

Cons: Make sure to get low profile memory. Nothing with a tall heatsink what-so-ever... The optical drive will hit anything that stands over typical hight of memory.

Front faceplate is plastic and tabs are prone to breaking if you have to get in and out of the case a lot.

Read the instructions when installing the HDD. It installs upside down and is a bear to get in at all. Once it is in, it works great. Don't do like I did and try to install it right side up. The BIOS saw the drive, but windows install did not. Had me confused for a few hours... Put it in like the instructions say, it fit better and windows install saw it right away.

Fans are a bit loud for HTPC. Recommend looking for silent 80mm fans. One for side of case, one for CPU heatsink.

Other Thoughts: Recommend getting low profile optical drive. Not height but depth profile. Everything fit snug with full size optical drive.

So far I would recommend this case to anyone doing SFF. Time will tell as I've only had it a week.

2 out of 5 eggsDo not use in a business

Pros: Small form factor frees up valuable desk space.

Cons: Foxconn does not sell replacement parts. The PSU fan bearings were bad on one of these and Foxconn would only replace the PSU it if was sent back to them first, no exceptions. They won't do advanced replacement of parts causing unnecessary downtime when something goes bad. In a business setting this policy is insane.

Other Thoughts: The PSU fan is a standard 80mm. I'm going to change it myself and buy another R10-H1 for spare parts. This is ridiculous, Newegg needs to reevaluate their relationship with Foxconn as they are not suitable for handling small business users.

5 out of 5 eggsNice HTPC

Pros: It is amazing the way this thing is build, little wasted space. I put the machine together and it fired right up, no problem. Drivers installed seamlessly. Runs cool and quiet. Very fast with the I3 processor.

Cons: The supplied heat sink will not go on as illustrated on the instruction sheet. When set down with the proper orientation a cutout in the aluminum will allow the four pin motherboard connector to just barely fit. I folded the wires over so they wouldn't be pinched. One supplied SATA cable is too short to be useful. You are going to need a right angle SATA connector to connect to the optical drive or risk the heat sink cutting into the wires. Also, one power connector is the old kind so if you install three SATA devices you will need a power plug adapter.

Other Thoughts: The hard drive is a little difficult to install. Instead of removing the power supply I bent the little hold down bracket and slipped it in. Watch out for the ears sticking up on the front of the hard drive as they will prevent the drive from dropping down all the way. If you connect the center power plug to the optical drive it will clear the heat sink, then use the end one on your card reader or whatever three inch device you install. Don't get tall memory since they will hit the drive cage.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding Next Gen System

Pros: 67 chipset that supports the latest Sandy Bridge processor. Intel Chipset, RST driver, and HD graphics. Sata 3 6gbps transfer for the latest SandForce Solid State Drives. WEI rated Core i3 at 7 and Mushkin SSD at 7.7.

Cons: 1st barebones was bad. Motherboard not chipset not soldered properly. 2nd was good. Quality Control?

Other Thoughts: Great price for latest 1155 intel sandy bridge. Also noted it has USB 3.0. Use drivers from intel site not included cd. LAN driver downloaded from RealTek as not Win 7 native. Change onboard SATA to AHCI or RAID as default is IDE for best performance. Small form factor 12 inch by 12 inch by 4 inch.
