Pros: pro: great little pc for the family. Enough power for the web and video.
this is a slow processor, but its good enough for common tasks, and its cheap

4 out of 5 eggsCheap, lower power, but solid

Pros: I picked up 4 of these to replace some really old workstations for users who barely do anything beyond opening a browser and firing up Outlook. For this they are pretty solid, but if you want to do anything beyond that you are going to have a bad time. Throw a cheap SSD in them and you will have a quick booting , responsive little workstation.

Cons: They don't have enough power to play any video content that is HD, so while I was hoping to use one as an HTPC it would not be a good idea.

I've also had some issues with them having errors booting into Windows, which is not a huge issue, but has been troublesome for users who don't know the monitor is not the computer. It seems like it's somehow causing a failed boot so the user is presented with the option to do a Windows health check the next time, but skipping this and booting normally has always worked after the failure. It's a very intermittent problem, so only 1 egg off but its worth noting.

Other Thoughts: It's important to realize that the processor on these is pretty slow, so if you want to do anything beyond the most basic of tasks this is not the right choice. They do make good very low powered workstations or could probably work as very simple server boxes though.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Does what I need it to do well and for low cost.

Cons: The front cover breaks easy

Other Thoughts: Built this as an inexpensive linux machine to access web and email. Also is used to view technical documents and chat with others on google chat. Has worked perfectly for over six months. Would have gotten 5 stars but the front cover broke the first time reinstalling it. Other than that it has been a great machine.

2 out of 5 eggsRandom but frequent BSOD and failed on bios update

Pros: Good little htpc for the 30 minutes it would work before blue screening. Cheap

Cons: After 30 minutes it would error and blue screen. Tried 2 memory dimms before trying to update the bios. Updated the bios through the wingui program following the instructions and now nothing is showing up on the hdmi nor dvi-d port. Really not worth the hassle of all this. STAY AWAY.

Other Thoughts: Tried clearing the CMOS by switching the jumper from 1-2 to 2-3 and it still doesn't post(or it may be posting but nothing is being output to displays).

Manufacturer Response:

Please call 714-626-6909 for a replacement BIOS chip. Our hours of operation are (M-F from 830am-530pm, PST, excluding public holidays).

Foxconn support team

5 out of 5 eggsGreat workstation

Pros: At this point I am going on 6 months of continued use on this little barebone. I use it as my business workstation, my playtime machine, development machine, virtual host, I even found the TPM for it and have since set it up...

This little box is still rocking nicely. I run virtuals, I crunch world community grid projects and do real work too... this thing just hums along. Very happy with this purchase. For the other hardware that I included in my build check out my previous review date (2/3/2012)

Cons: None at all. The barebone has been an awesome purchase. I plan to buy more going forward.

Other Thoughts: I'm starting to wonder at the technical skill level meter... perhaps it should be removed or somehow verifiable... most of the poor reviews on this barebone box are lacking real specifics.

This is a barebone and as such does not function until you add other components. Now... if you picked the wrong SSD, or if you threw in another graphics card that overdrew from the power supply or if you went with the wrong memory (voltage) or if you didn't read the reviews ahead of time to learn that you needed to spend 5 bucks on a longer SATA cable... the problem lies in 1 place... and it is NOT with the barebone.

I shake my head reading the poor reviews....

My apologies if anyone finds this offensive... it's not intended to be.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat HTPC

Pros: - Small
- Lightweight
- Low power consumption
- Good for HTPC
- DDR3

Cons: - SATA drive installation is a bit tight
- Plastic clips break easily on the exterior panel but do not affect the look or functionality
- PSU is very low power, can barely run a standard SATA HDD and Radeon HD 5450.

Other Thoughts: Overall this is a good product. Could be better but overall I am very content with the item.

5 out of 5 eggsHTPC...Working Great So Far!!!

Pros: Total with 4GB DDR3 Low Profile Ram and a 6450 Radeon 120 Streams 1GB ddr3 on windows 7 ultimate 32bit. Burning it for over 48 hours of full load...Downloads and 1080p viewing. So far so good..Ran 2 720p Movies side by side while downloading was on, no hiccups. Only if i tried to skip ahead it would lag while two movies where playing, but thats acceptable. Moving this puppy to the living room is easy..its light and only requires two cables. Tested the USBs. Watched a full movie and used two usb 2.0 devices to transfer 21GB. Took about an hour with a Movie running. Avg. Was anywhere from 15MB to 21 MB. I was impressed with this 1.6 dual core. Not sure how hot it ran..Maybe i should try MB monitor.

Cons: Really short sata cable. the aluminum on the back bends way to easily.

Other Thoughts: Bare bones + Memory + DVDWriter + Graphics card = 179 out the door. Easily could have sold this for at least 3bills. Also, plays general zero hour max, and diablo 2 with no issues. Im happy

2 out of 5 eggsBlue Screen

Pros: Machine works great as a HTPC which is what I purchased if for.

Cons: Blue screens on a semi-regular basis. Switched out RAM, Operating Systems (Win7 32 and 64 bit) and still blue screens.
