1 out of 5 eggsCompletely DOA

Pros: Small form factor for supposed specs.

Cons: Unit did not turn on. I figured proprietary PSU would be problem down the road, but it is a problem on Day 1.

Since computer gets no power, obviously cannot POST and test. PSU tested = useless.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsRuns VMware ESXi 5.1

Pros: A very cool little machine to run VMware for your router or firewall at home. Low power and MUCH better than the Intel ATOM CPU's for VMware.

Cons: The NIC driver is not recognised if you install ESXi 5.5, you have to install 5.1 and I have been told upgrade to 5.5. USB pass thru does not work, wish it did as I would need some devices to USB pass thru a NIC for firewalling and USB drives for FreeNAS shared storage.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected

Pros: I build this as a little nettop box for a couple looking for basic productivity. I've seen a E450 in action and this seems to be the same.

I stuck 8GB of DDR31066 RAM in it (anything faster is a waste since the E350 is limited to 1066). It does everything they want it to do, but their son wanted to play some video games. He plays League of Legends, so I put a radeon 5450 in it and it handles the game surprisingly well....better than his older laptop, for sure. He plays at 1280x1024 at moderate graphics with 40FPS. I am surprised that the processor could keep up with it. I made no promises since that wasn't the intention of the build.

comes with DVI and HDMI outputs.

I've never seen the power draw more than 60Watts, but it idles between 20 and 30. It really all depends if you have a disc drive and if you put a SSD or HDD in it. I added a video card and there went my power draw.

Cons: These barebones PSUs don't seem very trustworthy/sturdy. Time will tell.

The processor/heatsink is passively cooled. I find that as a con even though most people purchasing are probably building a HTPC. I don't like it because without good case ventalation it can get very hot. I didn't even bother. I unboxed it and added some screw holes on the side of the case (I know, voiding my warranty :P ) and added an 80mm fan to push fresh air onto the CPU. Keeps it nice and cool now (20-30c). I would just like to see some screw holes in case someone would like to add a fan.

the 5450 can't crossfire with an E-series...I wish.

Other Thoughts: This little unit will keep you away from atom at a low cost with surprising results. Saves power enough to pay for itself in a year or two (get an 80+ PSU and it can do better)...Just don't expect to game on it. It isn't designed for that.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat machine while it lasted

Pros: This machine was quite snappy at browsing the web and handling basic productivity tasks, couldn't have asked for more from a small form factor computer.

Cons: Longevity of this machine is certainly questionable. I had used this computer as a 2nd terminal in my store, and it received VERY little use, it was perhaps booted up and used about 10 times in about 1.5 years. Needless to say, when I needed it, it started smoking and burnt electrical component smell filled the store quickly. I took the side panel off to find it was NOT the power supply, but rather one of the transistors just below the main CPU had charred the surrounding area of the motherboard. This computer is now junk, and it doesn't sound like Foxconn cares much for after sales support.

Other Thoughts: I would have gladly paid a few more dollars if it meant better quality capacitors and transistors, instead I received a computer that wasn't DESIGNED by the MANUFACTURER to last long.

1 out of 5 eggsdied after 5 months

Pros: Price.

Cons: Died after 5 months. Bought it to run XBMC, we didn't use it 24*7 because of the noise, now I couldn't boot it up, probably the power supply is broken.

1 out of 5 eggsFox Con ME

Pros: nice small factor

Cons: Dead after 8 months. Very poor Quality components. It will not last! Good luck finding replacement parts for this one. (POWER SUPPLY 3.25"X 2.5"X 6") FOXCONN support is as good as the product that they sell.

Other Thoughts: Be ready to buy another system in very near future. FOXCONN is a waste of money. Stay with well known manufactures.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good price

Cons: Bought this for a client and 3 months later the motherboard died. I contacted Foxconn several times about getting a new one and never got a response.

Other Thoughts: This is not a bad review for Newegg only a bad review for the product. Newegg had shipped in a good time as they always do

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsdecent file server/htpc solution

Pros: overall i really like this little system. without ctalyst & ati tray tools it plays 1080p video smooth in MPCHC with latest drivers. Runs cool and quiet and consumes very little power. I was able to add an esata port using a pcie adater card, though i had to mod the bracket so it would fit. This card hosts a 4 bay esata encousure.

Cons: As mentioned by others, the cd/hd bracket is a bit cumbersome. It won't let you put any ram in the second slot unless its low profile, or you do what i did and tear the bracket out completely. I just mounted an 2.5" laptop hard drive on the top of the case by wedging it in a lip, and using some foam to secure it. Works pretty well.

Another con is there no way to mount a 2.5" hd in the internal bracket. Part of the reason i tore mine out.

Lacks USB 3.0, which sucks, as theres not really any low profile dual esata/usb 3.0 cards out there that support port multiplier for a 4 bay enclosure.

Other Thoughts: I added a 12omm fan to the side ventilation port, to get more airflow into the case, and it blows directly on the 350 heatsink. I used superglue, but you could drill holes in the case if you wanted. Keep in mind you need a 3pin fan/molex adapter, or a fan controller (what i use) as you get one fan port on the mobo.

One nice thing about tearing out the bracket, is you can possibly get a pcie extension cable, and put a taller dual usb 3.0/esata card in the cd slot. It requires some modding, but i'm thinking about doing it since i really want usb 3.0.

overall its a great buy, and witha bit of case modding can solve the ram fit issue, mounting 2.5" hd's and quite possibly leave room for a pcie usb 3.0/esata card to mount to the cd slot cover.

3 out of 5 eggsworks, but has unexpected limitations

Pros: Small and good looking box, big extra CPU heat sink and fan
Pro-active customer support!

Cons: 1. Ivy bridge CPU is not supported out of the box, but when I contacted customer support to find out if memory will fit, the rep not only provided me with precise advice, but also suggested to mail me a replacement BIOS chip, free.
2. My 3.5" WD drive did not fit into the box - drive was at least 20mm too long. I had to install it into 5" bay and use additional supports
3. Fan is nosier than I'd like it to be.
