4 out of 5 eggsGreat little PC, but...

Pros: Inexpensive for what you get.
Seems well constructed.
A tiny powerhouse (runs Windows 7 well)

Cons: A chore to disassemble/reassemble.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to build a PC for my Uncle. He wanted some small and low power so this was perfect. I put in 8GB DDR3 and a 2.5 (because I thought it used 2.5" drives). The problem he's having is that it would take a long time to reboot or startup from cold boot. In his words "if I leave it on, it's fine but once it shuts down, oy".

I didn't have much time to test it and such before he got it so maybe it simply needs a better FW or newer drivers.

Still, no big regret. It was a steal at the price and quite the value to have.

1 out of 5 eggsGot a dud

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Doesn't work. Won't install. Kernel panic

Other Thoughts: I bought this with Crucial RAM to make an HTPC. Originally tried to run a Linux box on it off flash drive. Didn't work. Thought it was a problem with the Linux distros so I bought an SSD and DVD drive to install Windows 7 on it. Windows 7 has a kernel panic and freezes on install. Memtest is fine on the memory. There is something wrong with the board. Maybe I just got a dud but quality control is lacking if they let a board that wont even get through an OS install out the door.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valuable customer,

We apologize for the inconvenience. Please make sure to set SATA Mode = AHCI if you are using SSD. Also CPU temperature in the BIOS should be below 65 degree Celsius. If you are using with multiple sticks of RAM please try to install Win7 with a single stick of RAM first.

2 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: NA

Cons: Received a defective board. The system would not boot. Foxconn support was quick to reply to my support request and provide troubleshooting but nothing worked and I was forced to RMA the system.

Other Thoughts: I went with another manufacturer ITX FM1 board and AMD A6 processor. Only a small bump in cost for much better performance.

2 out of 5 eggsDud

Pros: The unit mostly worked as advertised while it worked. My primary use was to use as a HTPC.

Cons: I tried to load with a XBMCbuntu but for some reason this unit would not load that OS properly....that should have tipped me off. Anyway I conceded to load another flavor of Ubuntu and then just run XBMC on top of that. It did this reasonably well though there was some tearing, especially on high action scenes. And I did have the updated drivers from ATI installed. Anyway, had it up and running for ~5 days then, nothing. I could not get the unit to respond in any other way. I imagine that the PS died.

Other Thoughts: Well I assumed this should be a pretty standard return with Newegg. After all of the great customer experience reviews I find on this website. Well anyway I RMA'd and shipped it out. Well since I did have it up and running I had thrown the original box away assuming I wouldn't need it anymore...its just a plain old cardboard box. Well, Newegg doesn't seem to think so. After they received it and a couple of chat sessions later I found Newegg to be completely inflexible in the matter. Even after explaining to them they could ship me a new unit in any old box and use the box from the new unit to ship back the defective one to Foxconn. Anyway, now I must now wait for them to ship it back to me only to spend another $20 or so dollars shipping it out.... and if this all works my total cost of this unit will have increased by about 40%. All the while being without my product for ~6 weeks. Very bad experience here. I'll be surprised if I ever shop here again. Same goes for Foxconn.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valuable customer,

We do apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact our support team via link below or call 909-978-6556 & provide us with your RMA# from Newegg. We will try to contact Newegg on your behalf. Newegg can send the unit back to us & we will be happy to fix it & send it back to you. 2 out of 5 eggsNice little PC BUT!

Pros: Nice size case for an HTPC works great for watching DVD's or one show at a time from the Homerun HD Prime also for email, web surfing.

Cons: This PC is far to under powered to make a good HTPC with Windows 7 and Windows Media Center Recording one show and watch another the on screen show is jerky. The other problem is the onboard NIC would lockup and require a reboot even with the latest drivers, had to turn to usb NIC. Also the lack of a supplied digital out for the sound carded was a problem for me I purchased an adepter that works but does not fit in the case.

Other Thoughts: Just as an FYI this unit is attached to a Homerun HD Prime cable card receiver and a complete Gigabit network. If I could do it again I would look at another more powerful processor.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valuable customer,

Please also try the latest lan drivers (PCIe) from Realtek. It is version 7.058 for Win7. You can download it from the link below. It is the fifth one from the list. See attached image. www.realtek.tw.com

Again, thank you for purchasing Foxconn products and taking the time to provide us with valuable feedback. Your business is appreciated.

5 out of 5 eggslove these things

Pros: zippy little things. Ordered 5 to test to possibly outfit a school and a medical office. use ssd's... windows 7 64 bit boots and gets to the login screen in about 10 seconds. runs on fumes, I would prefer linux on these guys, but clients usually want windows machines... runs beautifully on windows 7, as far as i can tell so far. thin, light, not noisy... and extremely low power consumption. Can run just about any basic office program you can throw at it... aside from possibly CAD or something you know is going to require a giant professional GPU and suck power.

Cons: 1 out of 5 was DOA but the RMA process was painless and I will be purchasing about 20 more. The card reader is taking up the spot that would normally hold the 2.5 ssd. no matter what you do or where you decide to mount the SSD you will have to get out the drill and do some slight case modding. I put the SSD inside the optical compartment because there is really no need for optical these days unless you have this set up as an HTPC with a blue ray. Mounting here also solves everyone whining about the short SATA cable. the shortest one that comes with it works fine and the other one can get pulled out. no eggs are lost for any of the above information, just FYI. the tribal design on the front is a tad cheesy... just pull the lights out of it. again, no eggs lost.

Other Thoughts: good box... i'm buying 20-50 more soon.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent and nice looking case

Pros: good looking case, price, easy instructions for installation, light, form factor

Cons: SATA cables too short, cable management, DVD drive cover, a bit too slow for a 1.6ghz processor, dual core

Other Thoughts: Very nice to look at, makes a good HTPC. the DVD drive cover is pretty useless because the eject button on the case won't line up with that of the DVD drive. Had to use Win command to eject, but for OS installation, however, i had to actually use a paperclip to get under the cover to access and push DVD eject manually--a big hassle. supplied SATA cables are too short, get your own. the computer seems to run slower than usual for the processor of its specs, maybe it's my HDD.

Handles Win-7 well, liked the media options and driver installation kit. Front panel audio and USB cables get in the way of HDD and DVD installation. the space is too tight and not easy to maneauver. overall, pretty decent case for the price i paid, but not sure if i will buy another one.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Office Computer

Pros: Great everyday office computer, throw in 8gb ddr3 ram, 128gb Crucial SSD and DVD writer and our accountant was happy. Run Peachtree, excel, word with several windows and browsers open with no problems in Windows 7 64bit. Internet download speed went up three folds Windows boot up very fast.

Cons: Price went up ridiculously after I bought 2 units.

Other Thoughts: Great everyday office computer, low power consumption and very responsive.
