1 out of 5 eggsUpdate to previous "good" rating

Pros: Absolutely none.

Cons: After initial setup bluescreens, I finally got the o/s to install after around 5 bsod's. Took about 12 hours over two days to install Microsoft updates on windows 7 because of random issues (and could never finish)- that proved to be hardware related. After throwing the Foxconn motherboard in the trash and installing an Intel that I bought - no issues.

Other Thoughts: Foxconn, you have earned one of those "never getting my money again" phrases from me. I'll go to great lengths to purchase different brands if the option is available. If it's not, I'll do without.

1 out of 5 eggsRuns Linux well

Pros: Looks nice. Ideally like the form factor. It runs Pear OS fine as frogs hair.

Cons: Windows 7 has random blue screens. The driver install something called splashtop that is not the quick boot OS but rather some malware that installs garbage into explorer and installs zynga? When I uninstalled this, it Boris explorer

Other Thoughts: Really wish I knew how to resolve the blue screens. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. It does not run hot

1 out of 5 eggsunreliable mobo

Pros: it worked. . . at first. . .

Cons: a week, later, random crashes. I changed the memory, and it seemed better, but after a few days, it started crashing randomly again. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT the QUALITY OF FOXCONN. Will NOT likely buy Foxconn again. i want a reliable mobo, but doubt FOXCONN's customer service.

Other Thoughts: paired with i3-2120 and kingston 4gb ddr3 ram/corsair 4gb ddr3 ram.

4 out of 5 eggsAdding IvyBridge support READ THIS

Pros: Received a free IvyBridge CPU from work so I picked the cheapest barebone system to put it in, and this was it. Decent motherboard (Foxconn H67S, so H67 chipset?), decent layout. Discovered the BIOS doesn't support IvyBridge out of the box, but was able to reflash it--READ BELOW!

Cons: Power supply fan is a bit on the loud side (but I wasn't expecting any different for the price).

Other Thoughts: TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK: If like me you didn't want to contact Foxconn to get an IvyBridge-capable BIOS, here's how to reflash it. You'll need a Sandybridge or earlier LGA1155 processor to do the reflash, obviously, and a DOS bootup disk (I used a FreeDOS 1.1 USB flash drive). Go FoxconnSupport.com and look for the latest (May 2012) BIOS for the H67S motherboard. It BIOS comes in two pieces, the ME BIOS and the system BIOS. I was able to reflash the ME BIOS but not the system BIOS, but that was all I needed! The combo of new ME BIOS and old system BIOS doesn't seem to be a problem, I've got a Core i5-3330 running Windows 7 x64 and Ubuntu 12.10 happily, no problems.

1 out of 5 eggsPower supply dead within a month!

Pros: Worked great for the month that it worked.

Cons: I had this working just under a month and the power supply died. I was invoice for this 8/27/12 which is outside of Foxconn's warranty period.

Other Thoughts: It might seem like a good deal, but now I'm stuck using my smartphone until I can get money together to replace the power supply.

Manufacturer Response:

We apologize for the inconvenience. Please call customer service department at 714-626-6909 for further assistance or submit your email to the link below. Our hours of operation are from 830am to 530pm PST, Monday through Friday (excluding public holidays).

1 out of 5 eggsTrashy Foxconn quality

Pros: Absolutely none! Apparently left factory in damaged condition. This shows poor quality control and poor quality performance by an employee.

Cons: Received barebones unit and it was a couple of days before the processor arrived. Opened box and removed barebones unit. Back upper corner was crushed and bent with appearance that it had been dropped. No way to repair damage and have computer look new. Box and packing that it came in were undamaged so damage had to happen before unit left the factory. This was to be a Christmas gift for two of my grandkids. Now will need to send back to Newegg for replacement without a chance a new one will arrive on time.

Other Thoughts: Installed processor and RAM to test and see if unit would work. Unit dead as a door nail.

5 out of 5 eggsEnergy Saver + Raid 5 from OS

Pros: quiet, compact, light weight, fits on the rack, 3 bays (half height 3.5" x1, full height 3.5" x1, full height 5.25" x 1), supports celeron G630T (35w) CPU for ultra energy efficient, to the Core i7

Cons: Sandy Bridge only (Ivy Bridge needs to get a bios replacement from the manufacture)
Only supports TDP 65W and below CPU, limits the number of CPU selections. Think there is only 1x i7 CPU that works with this power supply. The i7-2600S Sandy Bridge 65W.

Other Thoughts: Ready to drop in 3x 60GB Intel SSD ($70 each right now) for RAID 5 in OS

This is going to be my LAMP server.

I'm hoping even though the spec tells me this takes 8gb, I'm ordering 16gb, and hoping it would work.
