5 out of 5 eggsMay Need DDR3-1333

Pros: Good cheap barebones system -- using for linux/embedded network management

Cons: WARNING: I think the specs may be wrong, I bought 9 of these and cannot get them to post with DDR3-1066 memory; however, they seem to work fine with DDR3-1333. Foxconn's specs and tech support said they think DDR3-1066 should work but Foxconn's memory compatibility list only lists DDR3-1333 modules.

4 out of 5 eggsNo more free SSD?

Pros: Comparable to zbox but on a lower price

Cons: none, it is as advertised

Other Thoughts: Will buy more of these, maybe 5 or 10 more in the coming weeks but only if with free SSD.

5 out of 5 eggsI bought few from other channel

Pros: Super awesome price now, you should've seen the prices I paid back in the days
FREE SSD now!!! you kidding me! I would buy so many more if I had the need
Low Power
Slim
Awesome Foxconn tech support (if you ever have to call them)

Cons: None, because you need to know what you are buying before you buy it! people don't buy this as gaming rig and if you expect a $90 unit to play heavy graphic games, you must be out of your mind

well, wish Newegg had stock this earlier and with this promotion, I would not hesitate to buy from Newegg if I had to do it again

Other Thoughts: seriously, people give this unit a bad rating because Intel's failure to provide adequate 64 bit graphic drivers? the detail specifically said it's not compatible with 64bit OS and everyone is going crazy at Foxconn for what? because customer fails to read?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your feedback! we highly appreciate your support and please do check back from time to time as promotion like the free SSD comes and goes.

We have many specials line up during the holiday seasons this year, customers like yourself will find these to be of tremendous values.

Thanks again for being a loyal Foxconn customer.

Best Regards,

Foxconn Support Team

1 out of 5 eggsOnly supports win7 32bit

Pros: None

Cons: No support for any operating system but win7 32bit. If I would have known I would not have bought them. I got them for thin client point of sale workstations when they would not work with win xp I decided to use them as MythTV front ends. No support for Linux either. and every time I install any PCI video card they wont boot. I have three and I don't know what to do with them I should have shipped them back when I had the chance.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer
We apologize for the inconvenience,Intel only provided graphic driver & chipset driver for Win7 32bit .
You can load Winxp but you may need to change SATA Mode = IDE mode first. Then you should be able to install Winxp but without the graphic drivers, some apps don't run well with just generic graphic drivers. So we are not recommended to use under Winxp . Thank you for understanding .
Best regards,
Foxconn support team.

1 out of 5 eggsdon't buy this

Pros: i have bought 4 foxconn computers simular to this in the last year to use as terminals on our xp network and have been happy with them . unfortunately they no longer have drivers for xp

Cons: this one is not compatible with xp no drivers available
system places hard drive in e: instead of c: just another pain

Manufacturer Response:

Intel did not provided drivers for Winxp and Win7 64bit. You can still install Winxp by changing the SATA mode to IDE mode first but you will need to use a PCI graphic card instead.

Best regards,
Foxconn support team

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Graphic's Driver (Intel's Fault not Foxconn)

Pros: Easy installation process. Simple to install HD (single screw, upside-down mounting) under an easy to remove tray that holds the 5 1/4 bay (for cd/dvd) and the card reader. Cables were long enough to reach all areas needed. "Most" included drivers were fairly up-to-date.
Runs well, no heat issues, case seems well vented given tight space in bookshelf build.

Cons: Due to intel's shortsightedness, there are no 64bit drivers available for the GMA3600 graphics. No where on the product page does it mention that only 32bit support is available for graphics drivers. and given that it is otherwise a 64bit system.. this is a large shortcoming.

Sadly, Window 7 Ultimate 32bit install seems VERY buggy, routine crashes and glitches in screen updates with 32bit graphics drivers. Window dragging leaves old time window 3.1 trails if system is at all under strain. (>30% cpu usage).

Perhaps there will be a third party driver release for the gma3600, because the chance of intel/foxconn fixing this is likely zero.

Given this restriction, it's use as a HTPC is highly limited as playback with buggy 32bit drivers is weak at best, and game playing is going to be almost impossible unless playing non-graphical games.

Other Thoughts: Win7 Ult 64 bit installs fine, but no graphics drivers available at all. (any attempt to circumnavigate driver install seems to fail or result in the "your computer fails to meet minimum requirements..." message. I tried every version of 64 bit windows 7 with the same result. I will leave it under these conditions for now as oddly, no graphics driver seems to be more stable and less draggy than the 32bit os build. Although Windows only gives it a 1 for 2d and 3d.

In the end, I may have to just RMA the whole thing and go back to Foxconn's AMD boxes or build from scratch myself. As not sure customer will be happy with a partially disabled machine
