4 out of 5 eggsFast and quiet but does not support mSATA

Pros: Fast, quiet, small

Cons: Does not support mSATA despite overview video saying so.

Other Thoughts: In the overview video at 5:17, he mentions that this unit can support an mSATA. It does NOT. FoxConn support has stated this. I also put an mSATA drive in the slot and the BIOS did not recognize it.

Other than that, seems like a great little unit!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: amazing product, plays anything imaginable. not mentioned but it has an MPCIE slot inside also. i used it to put a higher power wireless n 5ghz card in it to get it off of my 2.4ghz range. i have 2 of these configured the same way and i can stream HD and x.264 to both of them at the same time with no issues.

Cons: the remote included in the 'kit' is not that great under linux. it can be made to work, but for my setup a wireless mouse was more practical.

5 out of 5 eggsUbuntu Server with Wordpress

Pros: Low power consumption
small form factor
no noise
low price
Comes with SSD

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I installed Ubuntu Server 12 using a USB flash drive and experienced not one issue getting the software installed and currently have Wordpress up and running on this LAMP all in about 3 hours. Solid performance for what I needed.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent XBMC Front End (OpenELEC)

Pros: -Fanless (Silent, assuming you use a SSD)
-Small Size
-Installed OpenELEC w/o any issues
-*Bundled remote worked right out of the box (under OpenELEC)
-*Bundled SSD works!
-Drivers are supplied on a 4GB USB Drive
-Integrated WiFi, Intel 2200BNHMW (antenna internal 2x2, single band)
-Open Mini-PCIe port

*Promotional Bundle deal

Cons: -Runs warm (not really a surprise)
-Entering BIOS was a bit tricky on the first go around (had to spam DEL as the first few boots there was no splash screen signalling that it was actually booting)
-Internal WiFi antenna ("may" limit range/strength of signal)

Other Thoughts: I wish it had a built in IR Receiver, has what would appear to have a window for the possibility, but the motherboard speaker sits behind it.

Almost thought for some reason it didn't have built in WiFi capabilities till I realized there is no external antenna and I was picking up my WiFi network.

-Will be used as a XBMC Front End device

1 out of 5 eggsCan't get one to even boot

Pros: Small form factor, low power.

Cons: I bought two of these, around the Holidays. One of them had no video output and returned to manufacturer for replacement. The replacement will not boot to bios, the power button will not boot most of the time, unplug and replug, to boots sometimes. Once you get it to boot it send bad data to hard drive or SSD making it non-working. The hard drive and SSD was taken from the working one so the problem is with the replacement. At $10-12 dollars a crack to send it back for replacement is driving the low cost up. Sorry to say I won't be buying another.

4 out of 5 eggsHTPC with OpenELEC

Pros: Got it cheap during December sale. Quiet and fanless so its perfect for HTPC. Works great with OpenELEC. It can handle 1080p MKV files without stuttering or dropping frames. Small and unobtrusive. Supports 2.5" internal drive and built-in wireless.

Fully supported under Win7/8 with required drivers but would not recommend for anything other than basic tasks.

Cons: Slow CPU (Dual Core 1Ghz), only supports 1x204 Dimm, can get hot without proper ventilation.

Cannot perform CPU intensive tasks such as gaming or watching 1080p movies under Win7/8.

Other Thoughts: Outfitted with 64GB SSD, 4GB Ram, and Foxconn Wireless Receiver. Current deal includes SSD and Wireless Receiver so the final cost is the same as the December deal.

This hardware is ideal for any Linux distribution. It works great for browsing the internet and other basic tasks.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I am using this as a mythtv frontend and it works well. I have installed Ubuntu 13.10. Menus are a bit slow (CPU?) in my theme, but is perfectly responsive while playing recordings. Picture is good watching movies and TV.
Not having a fan is great and the aluminium enclosure helps disperse heat.
This device can be PXE booted.

Cons: Maybe speed.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome little server

Pros: For the last 4-5 years, I've had a small little server running in my house. I've used it for small website servers, FTP servers, file sharing server, etc. It has been a great addition to my house. I originally had a Sheevaplug (it's a small linux plug computer) but the USB died on it after 4 years. It was awesome... it did everything I needed. Once it died, I immediately went searching for my new home server. Newegg had the AT-5570 at the right price and I figured I would give it a try. I love it. I found an old mechanical laptop HD that I had lying around and bought some 4GB DDR3 1066 RAM. I installed Windows 7 and have not had any issues with heat or power. I run my little server headless so I cannot comment on this little guy's ability for video playback. It has been able to tackle everything I have thrown at it thus far. I measured the power intake with a kill-o-watt meter and it averaged 15 watts. It could probably be lower, but I am using a mechanical HD and I have a USB HD attached. I'm sure the power intake could be lowered if you used an SSD and no USB HD.

Cons: Initially, I had issues installing Windows XP. I figured a Windows XP installation would be a smaller footprint and less of a resource hog. But WinXP and SATA have issues from time to time. I just skipped the whole XP installation and stuck to Windows 7. Nothing to sweat...

Other Thoughts: There is a small USB flash drive that comes with the box. This has all of the drivers you need to get this computer up and running. Additionally, you can download all of the drivers from the Foxconn website and sneakernet the drivers.

5 out of 5 eggsYes

Pros: Fanless!! So, so nice to have a fanless media PC.
Small form factor, and good hardware specs.
I installed OpenElec on it, and it runs everything flawlessly, and does full screen visualization buttery smooth.

Cons: Gets a bit toasty; enough to where it made me a bit nervous about stability when I first got it, but it's performed quite well

Other Thoughts: You should get this. There are some old reviews that say that the OpenElec drivers have a watermark about not working with the hardware, but this has been fixed. If I needed another media pc, I would get another one of these.
