5 out of 5 eggsexcellent

Pros: small size
hdmi port
2 usb-3 ports
super quiet
easy to install memory and hard drive
For BEST results use Windows 7 32bit and graphics score of 5.8
It's an atom processor so it's not the fastest, so good secondary computer. If you are looking for gaming machine look elsewhere, but if you are looking to watch internet movies, surf the web, email, like-weight stuff Excellent for the price.

Cons: Not a speed demon. :)

Other Thoughts: Go to foxconn's site and download drivers and drivers for D270s motherboard.
There is program to download called FoxLive which can update Bios for you, which is nice. :)

5 out of 5 eggsIt Works

Pros: Dirt cheap sale price.
Great for what it is designed for.
Small footprint
Easy to set up and use.
Plays 1080p very well. It's not fully perfect but it's very adequate for most scenes. For example: If the entire screen erupts in a huge, billowing, Die Hard meets Rambo style fireball, then it will drop to about 20FPS but it won't freeze or pause. For everything else it's great.

Cons: Limited to Linux or W7 and that's about it.

Other Thoughts: I tried Vista 32 and everything worked great using W7 drivers except the video. Intel doesn't offer a Vista driver for this IGP and I gave up trying to make W7 drivers work, but I magically found a 32 bit version of Win7 to test with and it fit like a glove and ran exceptionally well.

Ubuntu is also runs great. The install was mostly pain free and the PC felt snappy. Windows handles video better but Ubuntu might do as well with some tweaking.

This will be used for media and kept inside my LAN only where it will handle my backups .

5 out of 5 eggsAll About the Case

Pros: The case has rolled edges, good air flow, and is compatible with many low profile mini-ITX boards.
The power supplies last a good long time.
Fans are quiet and also last a long time.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: In truth I really just wanted the case. I've used variations on this case for several years and the air flow and arrangement work for many solutions. Newegg didn't list the case separately and other sites were selling the bare case for ridiculous prices.

I've used other small form factor cases, and each one had their good points and bad points. This case for me has the best balance of good to bad.

The most significant "bad" point is that the optical drive extends too deep within the case and any processor that uses a non-low profile heat sink and fan the optical drive will hit it. If this case were lengthened by at least a half an inch to maybe an inch it would make the case near perfect.

I bought two of these systems pulled the motherboard (Foxconn D270S, an eighty dollar board), and replaced it with the ASUS C8HM70-I/HDMI MB I bought. A perfect fit and 64 bit compatible.

I'm likely to keep these cases for many years to come and just replace the components.

5 out of 5 eggsKey Points You Should Know

Pros: Cool and quiet
Has an HDMI port
Has an IR connector on board

Cons: Limited OS compatibility.
Can't use full 4GB of RAM in Windows.

Other Thoughts: Before you buy you should note the following:
Update the BIOS to the latest before installing OS. (Tech support says earlier BIOS' have an issue with locking up the machine. Pull power for a couple minutes to unlock.)
Machine was designed for 32 bit operating systems.
The MB is a Foxconn D270S and drivers for that board are all Win7-32bit.
The processor is an ATOM D2700, which is a dual core, Hyper-Threaded 64-bit processor.
The WEI for the processor is 3.8. (With the right drivers everything else is higher.)

5 out of 5 eggsDecent little box. Good for surfing and email.

Pros: 1. small
2. Just add: a). RAM, b). HDD and c).optical drive.
3. Unit contains chassis,mobo, cpu,
4. cooling is passive via heat sink, so fairly quiet.

Cons: 1. some issues with locating correct linux drivers.
2. this model lacks any built-in card readers.
3. only 1 PCI slot for expansion.
4. Not super fast but adequate to surf with and read/compose email.
5. expect to add about $75 to $100 to each unit.
You need some RAM, an HDD and an optical drive.

Other Thoughts: I have 3 different bare bones that are foxconn.
All basically the same. Close in configuration to this one.

The different model bare bones (those that include at least an SDHC card reader) allow you to put an OS onto an SD card and boot from it.
Would let you get by without an optical drive and a HDD.

I have 3 different models and all are still going.
Oldest is 2 years old.
Just my .02 cents
